Review & Demo – BaByliss Curl Secret

BaByliss Curl Secret Review & Demo

I think curls suit everyone – in fact, I’ll take it a step further and say:  I think most ladies look better with curled hair, it softens the features and adds volume to thin or limp hair.  Obviously I’m not referring to Little Bo Peep curls – I’m talking about soft curls, wavy curls, natural curls, tousled curls, beachy curls, afro curls, messy curls…there are so many to choose from and you are bound to find the perfect curl that complements your hair texture and features.

Let’s rewind to 2011, before I knew what curls could do for my facial features – most of the time, I wore my hair in a ponytail or a bun.  If you have ever seen me with my hair in a ponytail, you will know that it does absolutely NOTHING for me – especially since I don’t have a forehead, I have a fivehead.  I look older when I wear my hair in a ponytail or a bun and I started to notice this whenever I saw myself in a photograph.  I then started researching various curling irons online because I was determined to make a change (plus I was obsessed with Kim K curls back then).

It sounds pretty vain, I know, but we all go through ‘improvement’ phases in life.  This was my ‘superficial improvement’ phase and I’m owning it!

Back to the subject at hand, it took me quite a while to get used to the idea of a curling iron (my very first curling iron was a 1 1/4″ Pink Hot Tools Titanium curling iron, which I still love to this day) and my hair definitely did NOT look all that great the first few times I used the curling iron.  But I kept at it and eventually I got the hang of it.  I’m planning on doing full hair tutorial video for you guys soon, using my trusty Hot Tools curling iron but today’s blog post is about my review and demo YouTube video on the BaByliss Curl Secret (which by the way, is a lot easier to use than a curling iron).

This hair curling tool is perfect for beginners, trust me.  It does all the work for you – it’s user-friendly, quick & easy to use and creates long-lasting curls.  In the video I show you exactly how to use the Curl Secret, what pre-and post-styling products I use and I tell you what I like and dislike about the Curl Secret.

Please let me know whether you found this video to be helpful, I tried to keep it as short as possible but still informative:

I mentioned under the information section of the video that I would add a few close-up photos and mention a couple more likes and dislikes for the Curl Secret in this blog post, since I have thought of additional points I would like to add.

See?  Two temperature settings (| and ||) & three timer settings (8, 10 and 12 seconds).

So in addition to the likes and dislikes mentioned in the video, here are additional ones that I forgot to mention:

♥  The Curl Secret creates long-lasing curls, as mentioned in the video my hair does not hold a curl very well.  When I curl my hair with a curling iron, my curls will last for about a day (if I pin my curls).  If I don’t pin my curls, they last for about 5 hours.  With the Curl Secret, my curls will last for 1,5 to 2 days.  And when I use smaller sections of hair & finish off with the Fudge Urban Iced Raspberry & Vanilla hair spray, my curls last for 3 days straight (no jokes!!).

♥  The 2,5m swivel cord is another thing I like, if there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s struggling with a short non-swivel cord that keeps winding up shorter and shorter.

♥  Sleep mode function, the Curl Secret will go into sleep mode (the temperature will drop down to 50 degrees Celsius) after 20 minutes of non-use.  Who is useless at turning off heating tools?  *raises hand*  I am!

♥  If the Curl Secret is switched on longer than 60 minutes, it will automatically switch off (since curling a full head of hair usually only takes 15 – 20 minutes).

♥  My curls do feel a tiny bit more dry when using the Curl Secret BUT that is only because my Hot Tools curling iron is titanium and compared to ceramic curling tools, my titanium curling iron always gives me softer, shinier curls.

I hope you enjoy the video, I’m definitely starting to enjoy filming and editing videos a lot more.  If you would like to watch the video on a bigger screen, just click on the ‘YouTube’ button in the bottom right-hand corner of the video screen above.  If you would like to see more videos from me, please subscribe to my YouTube channel.  Subscribing to a YouTube channel will keep you up-to-date with the latest video updates from your favourite vloggers, that means you won’t have to go search for that specific vlogger or new video on YouTube.  Each new video will appear in your ‘My Subscriptions’ tab on the left when you open up YouTube.

My next video will be a makeup tutorial on the eye-look I was wearing in my Empties video.  It seems quite a few of you liked the makeup I was wearing in that video, so keep a lookout for that.

As always, thank you so much for supporting my blog and now my YouTube channel – it means so much to me knowing you take time out of your day to pop onto my blog or watch my videos.

I really am tempted to get one of these but I wish I could somehow try it out first (I have quite long hair and I have heard very long hair gets stuck in it).. cause its a lot to pay if it doesn’t work on my hair :/

Hhhmmm… I’ve also read they say it’s not really suitable for super long hair. My hair is quite long (it comes down to the middle of my back) and it works perfectly for me. All you need to do is start a bit lower down on the hair length i.e. don’t clamp down right at the root of the hair, start a bit further down and take a bit smaller sections, so that the chamber doesn’t get stuffed with this huge piece of hair. I have no idea if that even makes sense – haha!

Let me ask Clicks if there’s a store that has a demo model – where are you situated? 🙂

It really is very easy to use – perfect for someone who doesn’t have the time or patience to mess around with a curling iron (it’s safer too because there’s no way you can get burned!). x

Want to get a curling iron, bday coming up. Out of all your experiences with different curling irons over the years which one do you think is the best considering ease of use, longevity of curls and price point? I have fine straight hair and my curls generally don’t last longer than 5 hours even when done by a stylist at a salon xx p.s love your blog, love that I have a private beauty adviser on hand at all times
