Winter is here…

For those of you who live in the southern hemisphere – yes, we are nearing the end of Autumn with Winter just around the corner.

I can’t say I’m sad to see Summer go, I love Winter.  I always say it’s easier to warm yourself up when you’re cold, than vice versa.   Yes, there’s always aircon but then you are confined to a specific room, and ice lollies / cold drinks only cool you down for so long.  It’s much easier to dress up in layers of snuggly clothes, wrap yourself in a blanket and drink yummy Milo or Horlicks.  Better yet, stay in bed with the electric blanket on and read a book.

What I’m looking forward to this Winter:

Lighting my Yankee Candle in Blissful Autumn.  This divine scent is a mixture of lightly spiced autumnal fruits (think pears and apples) with a woody undertone.  Perfect mix of sweet, creamy and fresh.  Smells. So. Good.

Soup.  I love soup.  Any soup – thick, clear, creamy, chunky, hot, cold, spicy, anything!  I made Butternut soup about a week ago when it started getting cold here.  I might just write a post for the recipe – it’s healthy and pretty darn tasty!

Scarves.  I just love how easy it is to bring some colour into an outfit by adding a scarf.  As with most things in my life (well beauty-related things), I am a hoarder of scarves and I never get round to wearing all of them.  I feel like I’m just getting into the routine of remembering to wear a scarf and then Winter is over.  Just like that.

Darker lipsticks / lip glosses.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE wearing my pink and coral lippies but I feel like this Winter I should really just give darker tones a try.  I usually stick to nudes in the colder months but this year, I’m going to try my hand (lips) at something like MAC Party Line or Diva.

Dark nails.  Firm favourites during the Winter months are ‘Every Month Is Oktoberfest’ (OPI), Leading Lady (Essie), Bahama Mama (Essie), Scandalous (Revlon), Bobbing For Baubles (Essie) and I’m Not Really A Waitress (OPI).

What are you looking forward to?

Well, actually I’m a bit of a summer lady! Winter is not very friendly towards the older generation! Aches and pains are worse in the colder days! But on the positive side is the warm comfy stews and soups, lots of dark chocolate to nibble at night while warm little doggy bodies snuggle close to you!
