WIN A Valentine’s Day Hamper with Cadbury P.S.

Cadbury PS Giveaway Pink Peonies

I’m just going to come out and say it: Before I met Neal (my husband), I was single for at least 14 years!  I had a boyfriend when I was 12 years old (actually a couple of them…at the same time – haha!) but after that I was pretty much single for the most part.  Because of this, Valentine’s Day has never really been a very important ‘day’ in the year for me.  In the past, I always made a point of treating myself to something special because we all tend to feel a little despondent (and perhaps even a little lonely) on Saint Valentine’s Day.

For me, Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic love…it’s about all the different types of love.  The love you have for your pet, the love you have for your granny, the love in your heart for anything really…  These days I do have a special Valentine who always tries to spoil me (not just on the special days) but I will never forget the years I spent as a single girl.

Pink Peonies Cadbury PS Giveaway

Today I’d like to show YOU some love – it doesn’t matter if you’re single, married, divorced…if you have love in your heart, then this is the giveaway for you!  I’ve teamed up with Cadbury P.S. to give you a chance to win a very special Valentine’s Day Hamper containing choccies AND a R1000 online fashion shopping voucher!  If you’re the lucky winner, you’ll be able to treat yourself to a new pair of shoes, or a pretty handbag – whatever your heart desires!

Please remember: You don’t have to complete every single entry option, only the ones you feel comfortable with.  For example – if you only want to leave a blog post comment (and not share on social media), you are more than welcome to do so.

I heard noise in the kitchen, some crashes to realise our 5 year old is busy cooking I went to go and help him prepare breakfast for us… just because he loves us… we got a tump pint heart and spend time with each other.

  3. Simone Cameron 16 February 2017 / 14:07

I got up early, made my kids and husband heart shaped sandwiches and notes (though I do notes very often). Hubby went to woolies after dropping off the kids and brought me some flowers and choccies. I was annoyed because I was waiting for him to get home and make me coffee. lol

Worked all day….home… homework with my 8yrs old, test preps for the next day. BAthing the kids, supper….collapse into bed at 10pm. lol. Pretty much my life everyday…minus flowers for breakfast 😉 I used to love valentines day before I was a mom for myself, but now I like to treat my kids…well and hubby, but that’s not for this blog post. ha ha

  15. Sanet 16 February 2017 / 14:17

I completely agree. We love different things at different times in our lives and we pass through so many stages of love in our relationships. I got married “late” ( I was 38 ) and so did my husband ( he was 45)! He became the one “constant” love in my life and for that I’m eternally grateful. But I’m don’t regret my single years. They were full of adventure and exploration and endless possibilities. Cheers to LOVE!

  20. candice terblanche 16 February 2017 / 14:25

Been with my husband for 12 years and been married for 8 of those years and we have never celebrated Valentines day mainly because of how commercial the day is so because ‘society expects us’ to show our love on that day we generally dont lol

I do like the taje on appreciating everyone else and showing love to your pet neighbours and everyone so maybe just maybe next year will be different

  21. LiezelTee 16 February 2017 / 14:27

Spent it with my sweet mother as it was her birthday

  22. Elize Swanepoel 16 February 2017 / 14:27

Valentines Day is not really a “special” day in our household. My hubby, myself and little JD did lie on the bed spending half an hour of quality time before the day begun. To me this was extra special. My hubby gave me a choccie that night and little JD brought a homemede rice crispy heart dipped in something pink from school. 😀 I did however make a point in wishing all my friends and family on Facebook a happpy V-day whether they celebrate it or not. My history is basically similar to yours. I met my hubby after I’ve been single for 10 years and now we are together for almost 9 years and married for 5. I also spoiled myself with a chocolate or something nice. With all the hooha everyone else made about Valentines, I did feel a tad bit lonely sometimes and wondered what it would be like to have that special someone in my life. ♥

  26. Lindsey 16 February 2017 / 14:29

  27. Carolyn Augustus 16 February 2017 / 14:29

  39. Blanche Lucas 16 February 2017 / 14:42

  40. Melanie Pretorius 16 February 2017 / 14:43

My mom was my Valentine as my boyfriend and I don’t do the whole “showing-love-only-on-one-day” thing. She’s been living with me for just over a month and it’s been a big adjustment for both of us. PS is her favourite chocolates, she calls it Psssss (almost sound like psssssttt) so I got her a few bars and a card and she loved it.

  41. Melissa Carstens 16 February 2017 / 14:45

When I got home from work, I took my adorable dachshund, Booboo, for a long walk. I then treated her with some rice and chicken as she is use to pellets only. Seeing that tail wagging warmed my heart tremendously! We then played until she passed out next to me. Happy Valentines day to all <3

  62. Meghan 16 February 2017 / 15:38

Though this is our first year as an engaged couple and our tenth together overall, we didn’t do anything for Valentine’s. Life’s been hectic and the fiancé came home from an awful day at work. We hadn’t made plans, so rather just spent time reading and relaxing, with plans to go to dinner and a movie on Saturday night instead. He did however get me my one request- some fresh Krispy Kremes doughnuts for a dessert!

  96. Janet Perry 16 February 2017 / 19:28

My husband and I don’t make a huge fuss over Valentines Day and this year we both said, let’s just keep it simple and play it down a bit. On valentines day, I awoke to a familiar fragrance in my room and after a bit of squinting, I reached for my glasses and saw a huge bunch of lilies on my dressing-table. I was so happy! My husband had walked down the road in the quiet dewy hours of the morning and collected them for me. The exact same thing he did on our first valentines day as a married couple weeks after our wedding. I was smitten, sigh, once again. I made a nice meal later in the day and gave him chocolates and that’s about it, it was probably the best valentines day of my life and from now on, we’re keeping it very simple.

  97. Kelsey Niehaus 16 February 2017 / 20:13

I baked him his favourite dessert (lemon meringue) and he took me to a cute restuarant and we just spent the whole day together as we were both off. It was the best Valentines day i had in a veeeeeeery long time, actually it was the best ever.

  129. Anusha Naidoo 18 February 2017 / 18:29

Sadly my precious hubby is in heaven this Valentines Day , it’s a quiet evening after a long day at work, cooking dinner for my daughter and I, chatting to her , helping with homework, it’s then bed time , a shower , read a little and off to bed. I light a candle each night in memory of him and will do the same on this special day as well. Miss him dearly , fly high with the angels my love until we meet again.
It’s heartbreaking to think off our short few years together and the beautiful Valentine’s Day we use to share , I never thought I will be a young widow but that’s my destiny ….love to win as I certainly won’t be pampered this year or treated to gifts etc.

  130. Katherine 19 February 2017 / 13:41

  175. Danica Van Zyl 22 February 2017 / 09:53

We spent our Valentine’s a little different this year, since my little 16mth old daughter is also now her daddy’s little valentine – it’s about love overall not just romantic love I believe. We bought some bubbles and had our own little braai..with her joining in on the fun, feet dirty from playing outside and getting to share our steaks whilst sitting between us. So this made me remember that even though I didn’t have some alone time with my hubby..the love we have is what made her in the first place so what a beautiful way to spend this day. Oh..we didn’t have chocolate – can you believe it so this prize would be amazing right now!

  180. Rebecca Lewis 22 February 2017 / 10:42

Valentines was exactly a month since my boyfriend asked me out, so it was the first Valentines in years that had any meaning for me – a double meaning too! Unfortunately my boyfriend had to work that evening so we weren’t able to go out and do anything, and my parents were planning to go out for dinner before my mom got sick so since neither of us were doing anything special, I decided to cook my family a delicious pasta dish for dinner!
My boyfriend surprised me with a bunch of red roses the week before, and my favorite Lindt chocolate so I really didn’t expect or want another gift for Valentines – he already makes every day feel like Valentines! But what he did do was type me out the most beautiful letter that brought me to tears, which meant more than us going out or him buying me gifts.
He really is the most amazing man I have ever met, and since I love him for his heart more than his appearance or status or title, I know that this love of ours is going to last a very, very long time <3

  181. Tamsin Naidoo 22 February 2017 / 11:01

This year for Valentine’s Day my fiancé had to work. Unfortunately in the hotel industry you have to watch other couples and families celebrate days like these…. But never the less, Valentine’s Day is everyday as you love everyone everyday. We managed to have lunch at home together which was more than enough for us :)

Hopefully I win this because I didn’t get anything for valentine’s day which was very boring

  218. Debbie 23 February 2017 / 07:17

Disappointingly, we stayed in, again, for the 7th year in a row, inspite of me reminding him that it’s his turn to do something special for a change & spoil me. Usually I do something fancy at home, for fun, because he’s not interested, but this year I didn’t bother, sadly. This is my “2nd time round”, so perhaps I was just spoilt in my previous marriage / relationships. :(

  219. Jessica 23 February 2017 / 08:27

On Valentine’s, I worked my office job all day, then I went home and did more scheduled work for one hour. Then I went to hot yoga and felt like I was wrapped in a nice warm hug

With a new baby in the house, Valentines was not as exciting as it normally is. We did eat some gooey baked camembert and french bread, chocolate mousse and a glass of wine (which for me is a big treat!) Our proper celebration will be next weekend! For the first time we are dropping Harvey off at his granmas and checking into a hotel for a night away! I cannot wait to climb into clean hotel sheets and just sleeeeeep!

  223. Jaime-Lee Walther 23 February 2017 / 12:25
