When it comes to photography, good lighting is a must! As a blogger, taking good quality photos has become a huge part of my life. Everyone enjoys taking a good ol’ selfie every now and again, right? Or perhaps you prefer filming quick videos on Snapchat? Sometimes, though, it’s a bit of a hassle – the lighting is either too bright or too dark, your makeup doesn’t show up properly on camera, or perhaps the artificial light from your ceiling lights are casting shadows in all the wrong places? Well, I have good news for you: I’d like to introduce you to…the LuMee case!
I think by now most people would have heard of the LuMee Light-Up Case for your phone – Kim Kardashian West made it instafamous after using it at the 2015 Grammy Awards. Whether you like the Kardashians or not, you can’t deny they take killer selfies! Selfies…gaaaah, I really dislike that word.
So, LuMee is pronounced “Loo-Mee” (in other words ‘illuminate me’). The case features small bright LED lights lining the front of the case, just outside the edges of your phone. The lights are neither too cool or too warm, they brighten the face giving your complexion a warm youthful glow. If you find the lights are a bit too bright for you, then you can always use the dimmer function too – just press down and hold the On/Off button (on the back of the case) to either dim or brighten the lights.
The case itself almost reminds me of those old Hollywood-style makeup mirrors with the light bulbs running down the sides – so cute!
What I really like about the LuMee is that it is rechargable, it comes with a charger that connect via USB port to your computer / laptop. In my experience it takes about half an hour for the case to fully charge, and if you keep the LuMee lights turned on, it should last +-2 hours.
Hi Online is the first South African retailer to stock the LuMee cellphone case. At the moment, they only have cases that fit the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S but I’m sure they’ll be getting more stock to fit other phones soon (especially if they see there is a high demand for LuMee phone cases). If you head over to their website here, you’ll see there are 3 colours available: Black, Silver, and Rose Gold. Obviously I chose the rose gold case, because well…I’m still in love with all things gold and / or rose gold. The case itself is made of tough, impact resistant plastic which means your phone is safe and snug as a bug in the LuMee.
Here’s what I’ve used my LuMee case for these past few weeks:
♥ We were on our way to dinner the other night, and I needed to touch up my lipstick in the car. I used the front camera on my iPhone, and the LuMee provided the perfect amount of light for me to touch up my makeup…no makeup mishaps!
♥ I skyped with a friend the other night (she’s currently on holiday in the US, so there’s a time difference) and the LuMee added front-facing (and very flattering) light for my Skype session (it’ll work for Facetime too).
♥ The power went out last night (the outage lasted for 6 hours, it was FREEZING) and the LuMee was the first thing I reach for. I was able to light the way for Neal to go start up the generator outside.
♥ I like to send my friends and Neal random Snapchat photos of myself (especially with silly filters on my face) and the LuMee does an amazing job of brightening up the face for Snapchats.
♥ The TV remote somehow ended up under the couch the other day, and I used the LuMee to find it.
♥ And last but certainly not least, I used the LuMee to light up my face for the photos in this blog post.
Hi Online was kind enough to provide a second rose gold LuMee Light-Up Cellphone Case (for iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S) as a prize for this giveaway. If you don’t own an iPhone 6 / 6S, why not enter on behalf of a friend or family member?
To enter, all you have to do is complete your chosen entries via the Rafflecopter widget below. Simple and easy!
Important: If you are not sure how to use the widget below, take a look at this blog post (I cover a ‘How To’ towards the end of the post).
Please note: I’ve added another Twitter entry to the giveaway, because I’ve noticed not everyone uses the Twitter button in the Rafflecopter widget to tweet the generic giveaway message that includes a link to the blog post. So I’ve added another option for you to RETWEET my giveaway tweet (the one with the photo). See below:
