What I’m Packing – Makeup

So here’s the second instalment of my ‘What I’m Packing’ blog posts.  If you would like to see what I’m packing for body, hair, nails and skincare then click here.  Let me first start with explaining my logic behind choosing all the products I’ve chosen.  Firstly, I don’t pack my high-end makeup unless I really have to.  I like to travel with affordable makeup that I don’t mind getting lost / damaged because I can always repurchase another one without breaking the bank.  Secondly, as mentioned in my previous blog post, I like travelling with sample size products because should anything leak, it won’t create too much of a mess (and usually sample / travel size products are packaged in either plastic tubes / jars or in little sachets – perfect for travelling).  You’ll see I am packing quite a few sample sized foundations, I figured it’s the perfect time to start trying them out.

In terms of makeup brushes, I’ll be packing my Sedona Lace 12 Piece Brush Set (like this one) and my Beauty Blender plus my solid Beauty Blender Cleanser.  I’ll be exchanging the flat foundation brush in the set for my Sigma Flat Top Kabuki brush.

All are sample / travel sizes.

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Eyeshadow Primer | Smashbox Photo Finish Primer | Clarins Beauty Flash Balm | Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer | Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer | Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion | Too Faced Primed & Poreless | MAC Fix+ (used as setting spray)

Foundation & Concealer

All are sample / travel sizes except for the Revlon concealer and Estée Lauder foundation.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream | MAC Pro Longwear Foundation (sample) | Revlon Age Defying Concealer | Clinique Even Better Makeup | Clarins Everlasting Foundation (sample) | Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation (sample) | Origins VitaZing Tinted Moisturiser | Diorskin Nude BB Cream (sample) | Estée Lauder Double Wear Light

Powder, Blush, Bronzer & Highlighter

All are full-sized except for the Benefit highlighter stick.

Sleek Glow Face & Body Highlighter | Sleek Blush By 3 in Lace (more vibrant in person) | Bourjois Bronzing Powder | Revlon Age Defying Powder | Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter | NYX Blush in Taupe (for contouring) | L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Blush in Innocent Flush | ELF Blush in Pink Passion

All are full-sized except for the Smashbox palette.

Sleek Eyeshadow Palette in Oh So Special | Sleek Eyeshadow Palette in Au Naturel | Sleek Eyeshadow Palette in Respect | WetnWild Walking On Eggshells | Smashbox Brow Tech & Cream Eye Liner Palette (derp, this one is in the wrong category)

Liners & Mascara

All are full-sized except for the MAC mascara and Estée Lauder mascara.

MAC Brow Pencil in Lingering | Jordana Fabuliner in Brown | MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy | MAC Technakohl Liner in Graphblack  | MAC Powerchrome Eye Pencil in Copper Strip | Rimmel Scandaleyes in Nude (great for lining the inner rim, as white pencils tend to look a bit weird on me) | Jordana Fabuliner in Black | Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara | MAC Zoom Lash Mascara

All are full-sized.

L’Oreal Caresse Lipstick in Fashionista Pink | Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon | Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya | Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade | NYX Butter Gloss in Strawberry Parfait | NYX Butter Gloss in Peaches And Cream | NYX Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel | NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu | L’Oreal Caresse Lipstick in Dating Coral

Totally agree with you! Only pack what you won’t mind losing or damaging (but lets hope that is worse case scenario)

Don’t you LOVE the Pink Lemonade Lip Butter! I am head over heals for my newest addition! My mom recently purchased the Juicy Papaya and it looks amazing on her that I am pretty sure I am about to copy her and buy one for myself 🙂

I am obsessed with Pink Lemonade! Juicy Papaya is just as gorgeous, you’ll be sucked into buying it in no time, for sure! 🙂

One word – *Drool*. I love your choices again! Very clever to pack the way that you do. I’m never as organised or thoughtful as you. I normally just take what I have and put it in a large (extra large) toiletry bag and then realise that I’ve left stuff at home. Ha, ha.

    Have fun xx

    • 26 September 2013 / 21:25

Haha! I used to just chuck stuff in my bag like you and then get to the holiday place and discover all the things I had left behind.

Will def have fun! You enjoy the wedding! x

    Enjoy the hols!

    • 26 September 2013 / 21:26

They’re not in South Africa yet, but I heard from a follower of my blog that they’re coming back to SA and will be sold at selected Foschini stores.

Will keep a lookout and let you guys know if I see it! x

Hahah! I feel exactly the same, this holiday has been a long time coming!

If you’re here at 2h30 tomorrow morning, then we might be able to squeeze you in. 😉 x

  5. 26 September 2013 / 18:06

If *any* of your stuff goes missing while you are on holiday it is not me making a plan to steal it. 😉

    • 26 September 2013 / 21:31

      Hahahaha!!! I won’t think you’re the culprit then. 🙂

      Thanks so much, Lauren! x

  7. 26 September 2013 / 21:12

Um…that’s a lot of products to take on holiday!!! Why on earth do you need so many eyeliners and so many primers? Had quite a giggle. *said with love* have a great time in Cape Town! 🙂

    • 26 September 2013 / 21:33

I donno, that’s just how I pack I guess. 🙂 I like to use different things everyday, life gets so boring when you have to use the same ol’ same ol’ stuff. 🙂

Thank you, I hope the weather holds up!

    Hi Luzanne

Do you know if the MAC at the Edgars stores stocks the travel sized fix+ setting spray?

    • 30 November 2015 / 14:47

Hi Navania! 🙂 No, only stand-alone MAC stores / MAC Pro stores sell the travel sizes. For example the store in V&A Waterfront and the one in Rosebank Mall. 🙂
