Urban Decay Is Now Available In South Africa!

Urban Decay South Africa

I have the bestest of best news for you!  Urban Decay is coming to South Africa!  And I’m not talking about the resellers online and on Instagram.  Nope…I’m talking the real deal, ladies!  Urban Decay Cosmetics will be setting up shop in South Africa during the first half of 2016.  I was at a special L’Oreal Luxe launch last year and they informed selected bloggers and media that the brand was heading to South African shores.  We were sworn to secrecy, so I couldn’t tell my readers.  BUT I did, however, give you a sneaky little hint in this blog post.

**UPDATE**  Urban Decay is now available in South Africa, keep reading for all the details!

I can’t tell you how many emails I receive on a weekly basis from ladies (and a couple of gentlemen) asking where they can purchase Urban Decay products in South Africa.  I’ve always been hesitant to recommend South African-based resellers because we all know, there are A LOT of fake UD palettes out there.  And I’ve heard and read horrific stories about fake brand eyeshadows containing toxic chemicals, and causing allergic reactions and long-term health problems.  But that’s a thing of the past – we can all rest assured that the products available in-store will be the real deal.

Here’s what I know so far:

♥  The first store is a stand-alone store in Sandton City, Johannesburg.

♥  There is now another ‘store’ within the Foschini store in Eastgate Shopping Centre.

♥  You are ALSO able to purchase the entire Urban Decay collection in the Foschini For Beauty online store.

♥  The entire Urban Decay product range is available in South Africa – even ALL 100 Vice lipstick shades.

♥  We will be getting the upcoming limited edition collections as well, but will unfortunately not get the Gwen Stefani range of products.

♥  The Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation retails for R490,00.

♥  The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer retails for R395,00.

♥  The Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion (for the face) retails for R450,00.

♥  A Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette (the 6-pan palette) retails for R490,00.

♥  The Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks retail for R295,00 each.

♥  The Urban Decay Naked palettes (Naked, Naked 2, Naked 3, and Naked Smoky) retail for R850,00 each.

♥  The Urban Decay single eyeshadows retail for R225,00 each – plus there will be 56 shades available.

♥  The Urban Decay Primer Potions (Original, Eden, and Minor Sin) retail for R320,00 each.

♥  The full-size Urban Decay Makeup Setting Sprays retail for R450,00 each.

Start saving those pennies, ladies – because there are A LOT of amazing products in their lineup.

If you’re interested, I have already reviewed the Naked 3 eyeshadow palette on the blog.  It’s a full detailed review of the palette, shades and I also included swatches.  To check out that blog post, click here.

I also own the original Naked palette, as well as the Naked 2 palette and you can expect reviews and makeup tutorials using those palettes very soon!

I’ll be attending a launch during the next few weeks, and you can bet your biffy I’ll keep you updated on everything.  And should I receive an extra palette or two, I’ll definitely be doing a GIVEAWAY for you.  No use in me owning doubles, right?

Anyway, here are a few of their products that I am particularly excited about:

Urban Decay Naked Palette South Africa

It’s the palette that revolutionised neutrals forever.  Loaded with 12 bronze-hued shadows in an insane range of textures, including matte, satin, shimmer and sparkle – the original Naked proves that neutral is anything but boring.

Urban Decay Naked

The chocolaty velvet case is emblazoned with the word ‘Naked’ in gold foil lettering.  The mirrored case also includes a professional-quality, cruelty-free double-ended shadow / blending brush AND an Eyeshadow Primer Potion sampler with resealable samples of ALL FOUR formulas (Original, Sin, Eden and Anti-Aging). Each sample holds about a week’s worth of primer.

Urban Decay Naked 2 South Africa

Naked 2 delivers luminous shades with shimmer and sparkle to the smoothest mattes imaginable, and is packed with 12 never-boring taupe-hued neutrals (including a gorgeous grayish brown, a glittery copper and our lewdest, blackest black).  Expand your Naked range to create even more sultry neutral looks, smoky dramatic looks and everything in between.

Urban Decay Naked 2

The case has an art-school inspired look with a hinged lid-taupe metal with embossed chocolate brown artwork.  It’s smooth, modern and cool to the touch.  Naked 2 includes a professional-quality, cruelty-free double-ended shadow / blending brush AND an Eyeshadow Primer Potion sampler with resealable samples of all four formulas (Original, Sin, Eden and Anti-Aging).  Each sample holds about a week’s worth of primer.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette South Africa

Experiment with 12 never-before-seen (and insanely beautiful) rose-hued neutrals – from pale, shimmery pink to deep black matte with rosy red micro-glitter.  Choose from every finish imaginable: ultra-smooth mattes, gorgeous pearls and glimmering metallics.  From the palest, shimmery pink to deep, warm black, these neutrals will make you swoon all over again.

Urban Decay Naked 3

Naked 3 includes a NEW double-ended shadow / blending brush AND an Eyeshadow Primer Potion sampler with resealable samples of all four formulas (Original, Sin, Eden and Anti-Aging).  Each sample holds about a week’s worth of Primer.

As mentioned, I have already reviewed this palette on the blog (plus included swatches) – you can check it out here.

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette South Africa

The key to nailing the most sought-after and elusive eye look ever?  Naked Smoky is loaded with ALL the essentials you need for the perfect neutral smoky eye.  The palette is packed with a dozen sultry, smoky neutrals, including nine never-before-seen shades and three exclusives from past palettes.  Experiment with warm bronzes, dimensional grays, rich browns, gorgeous taupes and deep black.  From mattes and satins to shades with sparkle, Naked Smoky has it all.

Urban Decay Naked Smoky

The case and brush feature a cool floating smoke effect, with ‘Naked Smoky’ in gunmetal foil.  To add to the mysterious vibe, the shadow pans are set in a smoky transparent base.  This palette makes sultry, come-hither eyes totally doable.  The detailed lookbook breaks down four amazing eyeshadow looks, and the exclusive double-ended brush (with a Tapered Crease Brush on one end and a Smoky Smudger Brush on the other) makes application easy.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

Coverage without compromise.  This weightless formula blurs imperfections for a flawless finish that feels invisible, but looks professionally retouched.  Not only does the new light-as-air foundation give you the buildable coverage you desire – it also looks and feels like you’re wearing absolutely nothing.

Naked Skin uses light-diffusing spheres to ‘blur’ imperfections for a luminous, demi-matte finish that feels invisible but looks professionally retouched.  Naked Skin is oil-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free, and loaded with nourishing ingredients.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Hide even your most scandalous flaws.  Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer gives you buildable, even coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish.  Ultra lightweight, this high-tech formula melts like a second skin to give you full coverage in an instant.  For complete coverage, just keep building; no matter how much you apply, Naked Skin Concealer always blends beautifully and NEVER settles into fine lines.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

The original Primer Potions have been revamped, with packaging that includes an applicator, this legendary primer looks more gorgeous and applies with more versatility.  And the paraben-free formula still packs the powers it’s famous for: 24-hour, crease-free shadow, more vibrant color and smoother application.  The formula glides on smoothly, and space-age polymer technology fills in any imperfections on the skin’s surface, prepping your lids for all-day shadow.

Choose your favorite shade: The Original shade blends beautifully on all skin tones and dries invisibly.  The nude matte finish of Eden offers full coverage while hiding ALL redness (and gives you a gorgeously subtle look when worn alone).  And Minor Sin, a champagne shimmer, is a sheerer version of Sin that we reworked based on customer feedback.

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow

Sparkly shadow goes ultra-sophisticated-with intense hues, microfine sparkle and lush, 3D metallics.  You’ve never seen a sparkly shadow this sophisticated.  Moondust is dazzlingly sparkly but with a super refined, incredibly sophisticated feel (and not a single speck of chunky glitter).  Microfine bits of iridescent sparkle collide with intense, dreamy hues and lush, 3D metallics – for an effect that’s out of this world.

New technology gives Moondust an amazing effect not found in traditional pressed-powder shadows.  It feels like a cream but goes on like a powder to create a smooth, brilliantly reflective look.  The result?  Sexy, twinkling sparkle with a ton of depth and movement.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter

Apply these amazing, easy-to-use loose glitters on top of a glitter adhesive for a jewel-encrusted effect that lasts all day (with very little fallout).  Glitter is like the cilantro of the beauty world. You either dig it, mess factor and all (like we do), or you don’t.  For those of you who are firmly planted in the glitter camp, there’s Heavy Metal Loose Glitter.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Liner

The water-based, buildable liner contains super-fine glitter in a clear base that dries quickly and really stays put (for long wear without any fallout).  Because the glitter is suspended in a gel, it won’t separate in the bottle (so you don’t need to shake it like you do with watery formulas).  Peach and cucumber extract condition the skin, while carrot extract smooths and softens.

Wear Heavy Metal alone, apply it over any eyeshadow or layer two shades together for a more intense glam-rock effect.  The precise, thin-tipped brush makes it easy to create fine, glittery lines.

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Sprays

Mist on this weightless spray to give your makeup serious staying power.  All Nighter keeps your makeup looking gorgeously just-applied for up to 16 hours without melting, cracking, fading or settling into fine lines.  Clinically tested formula is suitable for all skin types and features patented Temperature Control Technology.  Yep, this baby actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place – even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions.  The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or all night).

Oily skin has met its match!  Mist on this weightless spray to control oil, deflect surface shine and help makeup stay put.  Meet your most powerful oil-control ally, De-Slick mists on weightlessly to control oil, deflect surface shine and keep skin looking beautifully matte.  High-tech ingredients help keep foundation, shadow and blush from smudging, sliding or fading – so you hardly ever need to touch up.

Stop makeup meltdown…mist on this weightless spray for makeup that lasts all day without smudging or settling into fine lines.  Chill features cooling time-release Temperature Control Technology that actually chills the surface of your makeup – to keep it looking gorgeously just-applied for up to 12 hours.  Perfect for drier or combination skin, Chill mists on to keep makeup from smudging or settling into fine lines.

I’m sure there will be a lot more products in the range coming to South Africa, but those look like sure-fire winners to me!  And I highly recommend any of the Naked palettes – but I will admit, the original Naked palette and the Naked 2 palette are my favourites.

So tell me…are you as EXCITED as I am!?

Yes 🙂 The best news ever, Luzanne. I bought what I suspect was a fake Naked on bidorbuy.co.za…it wasnt cheap at all but maybe a bit too cheap for an online reseller. A friend gave me the genuine Vegan palette a few months later which has several of the same shades as Naked and oh my word, swatching them side by side was a revelation. The fake shades lacked that buttery intensity UD is famous for, plus the staying power of the fake was pitiful. I shudder to think about the dodgy chemicals I put on my eyelids….
