The Realistic Beauty Wish List

Beauty Wish List

I enjoy creating wish lists…  I enjoy the process of snooping around on other beauty blogs (or YouTube videos) and seeing which new & interesting products are out there in the world.  Some days, I’m disappointed because I know most of the products I see will probably never make their way to South African shores.  It’s such a let-down when you see products from brands such as Tarte, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Colour Pop, MakeupGeek and you know you’ll probably never be able to get your hands on them.

Fortunately a few South African online stores stocking interesting brands have popped up in the past year or so.  I’m particularly excited about a specific online store that launched just a few weeks ago – it stocks brands such a Colour Pop (I’ve wanted to try their Lippiestix ever since I first laid eyes on ‘Lumiere’), Anastasia Beverly Hills, Beautyblender, MakeupGeek and Z Palettes.  The website is called Beauty Link, they are based in South Africa and offer courier delivery starting at R 49,00.  But more on that in another blog post.

So, I thought it would be a good idea to create a wish list of products that actually really might come to our shores soon, in this blog post I am only featuring brands that are already sold in our local shops.  I have no idea whether these specific products will eventually make their way to our shelves, but a girl can most certainly dream…

Freeman Beauty Face Masks

Freeman Beauty Banana-Oat Instant Smoothing Mask – Whip up a little skin nourishment with this sensational facial smoothie!  Deliciously-fragrant banana-oat blend contains softening ingredients for gorgeous skin.  Highly active Alpha Hydroxy Acids rapidly exfoliate dull skin cells and reveal a softer, smoother, more radiant complexion.  Antioxidant-rich Bananas nourish freshly exfoliated skin with minerals and antioxidants to keep bumpy skin issues away.  Soothing Oat works double-time to nourish and keep skin calm, cool and collected.

    Hi Luzanne

The LA Girl HD Pro setting powder is available in SA…bought 2 of them at Dischem Centurion several weeks ago…they are found on the same stand aa the LA Girl BB creams (on the right hand side of all the BB creams) 🙂 About R60 each if I remember correctly.

    • Luzanne
      25 June 2015 / 20:46

Oh, that’s great news!! Thanks for letting me know, Dani. 😀 I’ll go take a look next time I go to Dis-Chem again – I was there yesterday and didn’t see the powders (was at the Dis-Chem in Centurion Mall). But it’s very possible I was looking into my eyelids – haha! 😉

Thanks for checking in on the blog, Sophia. The Banana-Oat mask, Coconut Bronzing mask, Key Lime face scrub, Pumpkin mask, Cinnamon & Moroccan Clay mask, Coffee & Chai eye mask AND Rose sheet mask are top of my list! Way too many masks for just one person, but still…I want them ALL! 😉

  7. Geraldine
    25 June 2015 / 15:50

Those L’oreal eyeshadow palettes are so pretty! P.s saw the Vaseline sprays in my Clicks just yesterday, I stay in Durb’s btw. Great post.

    • Luzanne
      25 June 2015 / 20:55

I agree, they look very similar to the Urban Decay palettes…

Oh, wow! Really!? That’s awesome news, I’m going to check at my local Clicks store tomorrow! Thanks for the heads-up, Geraldine. 😉

  9. Ursula
    25 June 2015 / 16:24

Those Vaseline spray moisturisers sound like something I would love, I am so lazy when it comes to applying a body lotion and somehow I think these will make the whole process more interesting for me. 😉

Hoping those Freeman masks and the Virgin Mojito range arrive here soon. XO

    • Luzanne
      25 June 2015 / 20:56

They are just incredible, so easy to use and absorb really fast into the skin too. I’m exactly the same, so bad with applying a moisturiser to my body.

I’m hoping these products arrive in stages, otherwise my bank account is going to hate me – haha! 😉

  10. Talitha ❤
    25 June 2015 / 18:21

Those real technique brushes are SOOOO pretty!!! *drools*

I would be keen to try the LA Girl stuff, as so far I love the BB cream and the concealer.

Any banana/oat mask…I’m there like white on rice! An awesome wishlist…. I know you will update us if there is even a hint that any of these items will be available on our shores in the near future!

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:22

I know, right!? Rose gold is everything!

I must admit, I’m most excited about the primer and makeup setting spray from L.A. Girl. Not usually a fan of loose powders.

I’ll definitely keep you updated! 😉

    26 June 2015 / 12:18

Ons het Vaal Driehoek toe getrek vir my man se werk so 18maande terug (kom oorspronklik ook van Pretoria af). So dis omtrent ‘n struggle om “high end” produkte hier te kry, wat nog van new releases 😀 So elke keer as ek ‘n trippie Jhb / Pretoria toe beplan, weet my man ek het alweer gesit en beauty blogs lees, haha. Moet sê, ek het nog nooit iets gekoop wat jy voorgestel het, waarmee ek nie tevrede was nie, dankie so baie vir jou omvattende reviews xx

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:23

🙂 xo

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:24

      It’s a powder product. 🙂 xo

    26 June 2015 / 13:52

Nog ‘n vraag!! Ek dink ons almal weet hoe lief jy vir gesigmaskers is, met goeie rede. Dankie vir die wysheid wat jy altyd daaruit deel. Hoe gereeld sal jy sê moet mens maskers gebruik? Een keer ‘n week / elke dag / ??

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:26

Ek persoonlike gebruik ‘n gesigsmasker so 2 keer ‘n week. 🙂

    27 June 2015 / 11:06

My wish list will definitely include the OGX Cherry blossom shampoo&conditioner and the Vaseline Intensive Spray&Go moisturizer for dry skin!

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:26

I think the Cherry Blossom range must smell absolutely amazing!

  16. Arleen Marree
    29 June 2015 / 09:38

I haven’t seen the Vaseline Spray & Go in South Africa yet, but Palmers Coco Butter do a range that is available in South Africa. Having used both brands, I would say the Palmers one is better.

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:28

I’ve tried the Palmer’s gradual tanner spray product and I didn’t like it at all because of the scent – it reminds me of really cheap chocolates. I know it sounds terrible, but that’s what it reminds me of. Do the normal Palmer’s body moisturiser sprays have the same scent?

  17. 29 June 2015 / 15:06

SO keen for a Virgin Mojito shower gel. Do you know if there’s any chance of that collection coming to SA?

    • Luzanne
      29 June 2015 / 17:28

It will most likely arrive in South Africa just before Spring, I’m very hopeful. 🙂 I’ll find out for you and will let you know in another reply comment.

    Thank you Luzanne.
The freeman masks are fab – bought the overnight one on your recommendation and loving it.
Yay to the L’Oréal Color Riche La Palette Nude – hopefully this one is readily available as the LA Girl one has been sold out since forever!
