The Husband Review – Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert SPF15 Moisturiser

Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert Moisturiser

I bet you didn’t think you’d see a review from Neal so soon again, right?  Vaseline challenged Neal to put their Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert SPF15 Moisturiser to the test – he’s been using the moisturiser for almost a month now, here are his thoughts:

Month-end and mid-year statutory requirements lead to long days in the office for me (I’m a Financial Manager).  Yesterday was a crazy day and today will be equally rough, so by the time you read this I’ll probably be on coffee number four, wondering how fast I can finish the cup before number five gets poured.  I’m not one to regularly complain about work and focus solely on weekends, but this weekend I am certainly looking forward to!

I have unwritten plans to go for a good bike ride, get some gardening done as Spring has arrived, then try rest to get some much needed sleep in.

Is anybody planning anything exciting for the weekend?

For those of you who read my last product review you would have seen my post on the new Vaseline MEN Extra Strength Body Lotion. If not, you can view the blog post here.

Today I will be sharing with you my experience with the Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert SPF15 Moisturiser.

Some fun:

Before I delve into the review, I should share with you that Vaseline are running a ‘Worst Face Scenario’ campaign.  The intention is to visually represent the worst case scenario that your skin will deteriorate to from sun damage, should you not take care in protecting it.  You can upload a photo of yourself to their website and their algorithm will age your skin.  It’s quite dramatic, I must warn you, but taken light heartedly the idea they are emphasising is a very real risk.  Here is my worst case scenario:

Neal Vaseline WorstFaceScenario

Perhaps if you upload your partners pic up there, it’ll convince them to start taking care of their skin!?  If you do decide to check out his #WorstFaceScenario, maybe send Luzanne a tweet and show her.  I’m sure she would enjoy seeing different scenarios.

So the product I reviewed is packaged in a 50ml container which features an airless pump. This design improves the sealing of its contents, keeping the moisturiser fresh, active and safe from contamination. Like the Vaseline MEN Extra Strength Body Lotion, the fragrance is fresh and cologne-like.

In my hands,

The moisturiser has a thick consistency and is non-greasy, so after applying it to my face I do not feel the need to wash my hands, one less thing for me to worry about.

It applies easily, requiring only a small amount so it will last quite a long time.  Since it absorbs very quickly into the skin, the amount you use can be deceiving, but even with a small amount I can feel my skin loosen up and feel comfortably firm.

The SPF15 properties are important to me as it will protect my skin from sunlight on long drives to and from work, as well as my mountain bike rides and races (sometimes I can be out in the sun for as long as 5 hours!).  Also when I’m pacing up and down the driveway, in direct sunlight, whilst talking on my phone. Yes, I’m one of those people who cannot stand still when talking on the phone, I must walk, and walk I shall…

Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert Moisturiser Review

On the packaging it states “MENface EVEN TONE EXPERT’, that there is a visible spot reduction and that it brightens / evens skin tone in 2 weeks.  Since I have a fairly even tone skin I can’t really comment on its effectiveness, sadly. On a plus side, the SPF15 will help prevent these dark spots from developing and hopefully maintain my even skin tone.

The most noticeable result for me was its ability to regulate oily skin.

I have oily skin.  I have really struggled to find a moisturiser which regulates the oil on my face throughout the day.  Many products advertise that they are ‘for oily skin types’, but they don’t always do what they say. Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert SPF15 Moisturiser does not advertise whether or not it is intended to help oily skin types, but it has really worked well for me.

I apply the product in the mornings after a shower, then I head off to work.  Even after a long day like yesterday, I can arrive home with my face still feeling healthy and showing minimal signs of oil.

Being fairly self-conscious about cleanliness at work and I have often felt the need to wipe my face with a tissue during the day.  Whilst testing Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert SPF15 Moisturiser, I did not feel the need to do this.

Overall, I’m happy with the product and am grateful to have had the opportunity to try out the Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert SPF15 Moisturiser.

I’d like to thank Vaseline for including me in this challenge, I really have benefitted from it and hope those of you who read this review and decide to try the product will experience the same as I have.

Then most importantly, I’d like to thank all of you for reading through my reviews and providing motivation through your comments.

The Vaseline MENface Even Tone Expert Moisturiser is available at your local pharmacy stores (Clicks, Dis-Chem etc) in a 20ml tube (R31,99), 50ml tube (R64,99), and 50ml pump bottle (R85,99).

It’s me again – Luzanne!  So I thought I’d show you what I might look like one day if I don’t stick to a good anti-ageing skincare routine – just for fun!  Take a look at the photo below, scary right!?  But also a little bit funny…check out those jowls!

Loved the review, especially that you included it didnt leave a greasy feeling on your hands, this must be important for men. Its a struggle to get my husband to use products for this reason. My brother too and they need to! I have forwarded this to then. Would love to know your goto sunscreen?

It is a strange paradox, we don’t mind having real grease and dirt on our hands, but can’t stand body lotion. As if we have a natural inclination to be dirty. Interesting…

Thanks for the comment and suggestion, perhaps sunscreen will be my next review?

I was confused, like why were you doing another post on the body lotion, then I started reading. I love the price point for these as my husband generally doesn’t bother with these types of products and I can’t afford hundreds of rands for products to stand in his cupboard, unused. So I don’t mind getting some of these products and then seeing if he uses it…and it sounds like good value for money as well 🙂

      Don’t worry, I confuse myself sometimes too… 🙂

If you decide to use it, let us know if he experienced the same?

      Thanks for the comment.

Such a good review, I love reading a review that is from a man’s point of view. It helps me to decide whether something would be worth it for my husband, and whether he would actually use it. 😉

Thanks Rheba, glad I could help.

Lol the photos are hilarious!! 😀 I may just buy this for myself becoz I find regular moisturisers for ladies don’t keep me matte for long.

I often wonder why one needs to differentiate between men and women when it comes to lotions.

Let us know your experience with it, whether it helps you?
