Tarte Fantastic Foursome Enthusiast Set

So I thought I would share these lovelies with you, since they are some of my favourite cheek products.  Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes have developed quite the cult following in the Youtube and beauty blogger world, so I knew I had to get my hands on a few of these (even if just to see what all the fuss is about).

The ‘Fantastic Foursome’ blush set hit the shelves in the US at the end of last year, the set was part of the Tarte Cosmetics Holiday 2012 Collection.  They usually have these wonderful kits / sets come out all year round for special occasions (Christmas, Mother’s Day etc).  I absolutely love their products,  I just wish they would ship worldwide!  Until such time, though, I will have to get my Tarte ‘fix’ from eBay.  Trusty ol’ eBay.

Now although this set was released end of 2012, there are still a few of these available for purchase on eBay and Amazon.  I must add though, the sellers on eBay are charging A LOT more than what the set initially retailed for.

Here’s a bit of info on these blushes:  They are advertised to have a 12-hour wear time (in my humble opinion, though, I would say 10 hours), the texture is soft and they are super pigmented.  Here’s a little snippet from their website: “A long-wearing, supremely soft blush infused with Amazonian clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun.”  The Amazonian clay in the product minimises oil in and around the pores which means your blush won’t melt off your face on a hot day (gosh, that sounded like something from a horror movie!).  It definitely works, this stuff truly is long-wearing.  To prove it, these blushes have won numerous awards:  Allure Best Of Beauty Award, Total Beauty.com Award to name a few.  They are also formulated without Parabens, Sodium Sulphate, Synthetic Fragrances and Gluten.

I took these photos before I started using the blushes because I wanted to show you the gorgeous design etched into the blush (that’s why they look untouched).

The name is fitting.  I wouldn’t call this a traditional blush, but rather a highlighter.  It’s a pearly champagne colour with a subtle shimmer.  Perfect for using on the high points of the cheeks, down the bridge of the nose and on the cupid’s bow.

Don’t be scared, this blush isn’t nearly as neon as it looks in the pan.  It’s one of their matte blushes and it gives the cheeks a beautiful light pink color.  In saying that, it’s buildable so you can adjust the intensity.

I was so excited when I saw this colour!  I have been searching high and low for a matte, bright(ish) coral blush.  I say ‘ish’ because no one wants bright orange cheeks!  ‘Magic’ is a pigmented coral with a hint of pink and I have found it to be the most wearable out of the set.  It just gives your cheeks the perfect flush – no other way to describe it.

This one is also not your traditional blush, it leans towards a bronzing powder – I can’t imagine using this on the apples of my cheeks.  I’m not all that crazy about too much glitter / shimmer on my face and although the shimmer in this ‘blush’ is quite subtle, it’s still there.  If it were matte, I could use it as a contour shade as well.  I’ve been also using this one as an eyeshadow in the crease (if there’s one thing I’ve learnt from MAC, it’s that a blush doesn’t just have to go on the cheeks).

Now these blushes are not the same size as your normal Tarte blushes, these are mini sizes.  Not mini to the point where I can’t fit a blush brush in the pan, it’s the perfect size.  One of these smaller sized blushes will last me years – even if I use it every day.  Normal Tarte blushes are 0.2 oz, these little babies are 0.1 oz.  A normal-sized Tarte blush retails for $ 26 (approximately R 260,00), this set (including international shipping) on eBay came to about $ 60 (approximately R 600,00 – for FOUR long-lasting blushes).  The initial price for the set in the US was $ 35 – that’s a bargain!

Beware, these have been heavily swatched by me.  I should have included a blended swatch as well, but alas, so we live and learn.  Maybe next time…

I’m really impressed with these blushes and would love to have more Tarte products in my makeup collection – I just wish they would offer international shipping or have their products stocked in an online shop like ‘Kiss and Makeup NY’ or ‘Vivadream Cosmetics’ who do ship worldwide.  But in the meantime I’ll have to rely on eBay.

These really are amazing blushes, there’s definitely a reason why everyone is raving about them! xx

I have Tipsy which is a gorgeous coral – I think they are lovely products, but in my opinion, somewhat over hyped. I still prefer Nars :) xx

    • Luzanne 15 July 2013 / 18:28

The Tarte blush in Tipsy is SO similar to NARS Orgasm, I’ll be doing a blog post on the 2 soon. But Tipsy lasts longer on my cheeks, Orgasm starts to fade after couple of hours… How many NARS blushes do you own? xxx

Tipsy is matte whereas Orgasm has quite a bit of gold shimmer on me. I agree that Tarte lasts much longer, but I think Nars have more unique shades and are much easier to blend. Plus I prefer the packaging, Tarte is a little plasticky :p
I have Sin, Gina, Douceur, Deep Throat, Orgasm and had Angelika but gave it to a friend (addicted much?!?) xxx

Haha! I must be losing my marbles, I meant Splendor – the Tarte blush in Splendor is similar to Orgasm.

Been wanting to get Deep Throat, Angelika and maybe Albatross but I’d rather spend the money on Mary-Lou Manizer (rather than Albatross). Also want to try the NARS Multiples…

Thanks for checking out my blog posts, it means a lot to me! xxx
