Sweater Weather Tag

You guys know I love tag blog posts – and even though I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this post, I still thought it would be fun to do.  I tag anyone who would like to do this blog post and remember to add a couple of photos to make it even more interesting!

Favorite candle scent?

Ooooh, tough question… I’m guessing we’re talking about an Autumn / Winter scent here in which case I will have to go with ‘Vanilla Chai’ from Yankee Candle.  It’s a deliciously rich and spicy mix of ginger, cinnamon and vanilla (smells exactly like a Chai Latte).

Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

I will have to go with coffee AND tea…I’m quite weird when it comes to the colder months because I need a coffee in the morning to wake me up.  I love eating rusks (especially Ouma Condensed Milk rusks) during the colder months and I only eat rusks with tea – coffee changes the taste of the rusks too much for me.  So I usually have a coffee in the morning and then a tea (Early Grey or Ceylon) with rusks in the afternoon.

What’s the best Autumn memory you have?

It’s not really a memory because it happens every year – we have the most beautiful trees in the area where we live and during Autumn, their leaves start to change colour but not all the leaves change at the same time so you have this amazing ombré of yellow, orange, red and burgundy that happens all in one tree.  Stunning!

Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?

I love dark lips during the colder months – not necessarily on myself but some girls look really stunning with a dark lippie.  Winged liner, for me, isn’t really season specific – you can rock any season of the year!  I have been eyeing the new Rouge Edition Velvet lippies from Bourjois, these shades are perfect for Autumn and Winter.

Best fragrance for Autumn?

Diesel Loverdose – floral, yet spicy.  It is described as opening with star anise and mandarin.  Sambac jasmine, licorice and gardenia petals form the core of the composition, placed on an oriental base of amber, vanilla and woody notes.

What is Autumn weather like where you live?

Our Autumn days are usually quite chilly early morning and late afternoon but with sunny weather during the day.  This year, though, we’ve had some pretty cold weather already…eeeek!

Most worn sweater?

Probably my cream cable knit sweater from Forever New.

Must-have nail polish this Autumn?

It changes each year – in 2013 it was Essie Bahama Mama but this year it’s Essie For The Twill Of It OR The Lace Is On (sorry – couldn’t choose).

Football games or jumping in leaf piles?

Neither…I prefer to stay indoors when it’s chilly but definitely NOT watching sport.  I’d much rather curl up on the couch with steaming cup of tea while watching a series like ‘The Following’ or ‘The Walking Dead’.

Skinny jeans or leggings?

Leggings, I find they are a lot more comfy than skinny jeans.  And I tend to overindulge during the colder months and jeans are too constricting on the days when I really indulge – haha!

Combat boots or Uggs?

Probably combat boots – I’m a big fan of boots during the cold months.

Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?

Not sure, really…  We don’t have pumpkin spice drinks or pumpkin pies here in South Africa, so it’s hard to say.  If I think about it, though, pumpkin spice consists of cinnamon, ground ginger, cloves, nutmeg and allspice.  Chai spice consists of cinnamon, ground ginger, cloves, cardamom, star anise and fennel…which could be quite similar.  I love a good Chai Latte, so I would probably be all over a Pumpkin Spice Latte too.

Favorite Autumn TV show?

We don’t really have season specific series here, but at the moment my favourite TV show is ‘The Following’.

What song really gets you into the Autumn spirit?

See, now this question is geared more towards you guys in the northern hemisphere because Autumn means Thanksgiving and Christmas is just around the corner over there.  I can’t think of a specific song that really gets me into the chilly-month-spirit but I will let you in on my favourite song of the moment: Sara Bareilles – Brave.

P.S. Not my feet…I wish my toes were that cute!

I have so many yankee candles and now you’ve made me want yet another one lol!

Loved this post, thanks for sharing Luzanne. xOx

    • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:02

Haha! We can never have too many Yankee candles, Diana! 😉

  2. Svetlana 29 April 2014 / 16:31

Those Bourjois lippies don’t feel that great on the lips..somehow grainy and dry, if that makes sense, and they don’t last long at all. Nice colours though :)

    • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:04

Aaaah, that’s a pity… And I’ve been so looking forward to trying a couple of shades. :( Thank you so much for letting me know, Svetlana. x

Loved reading yours and we are going into the a hot summer here in Texas and you guys are heading into Winter.

    • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:05

I was actually thinking about you the other day, Steph… Thinking it’s so weird how you’re from SA but you’re living in Texas – and I know it’s not really that weird because I used to live in Scotland and it wasn’t weird at all. I guess it’s just weird thinking about it for the person who is living in the home country. NO IDEA if that even makes any sense haha! 😉

      • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:06

P.S. I will forever be very jealous of you living in the US with all those drugstore (and high-end) brands at your disposal!! :)

I am luuving the weather right now, but I don’t want it to get any colder. Enjoyed readin this blog post, Lu. I always like finding out new things about you. It is like getting to know a friend a bit better.

    • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:08

I’m also pretty happy with the weather we’re having now…it’s chilly but not cold. A nice bowl of soup and a soft blanket does make the idea of Winter a little bit more appealing, though… 😉

I definitely see you guys as my friends, so I’m happy you see it that way too! x

  6. Natasha 29 April 2014 / 18:04

I also only eat rusks with tea :) I don’t think I’ve ever even tried with coffee, it’s just how I’ve always done it.

    • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:09

So glad I’m not the only one who does that…Neal thinks I’m totally bonkers! 😉

  7. farzana 29 April 2014 / 21:01

Stupendous post, Luzanne – I always enjoy these tag posts because we get to know you a bit better.

I’m obsessed with The Following as well; I went out and bought The Lace Is On after you had it on the blog a couple of weeks ago; and that Yankee candle sounds delectable.

    • Luzanne 29 April 2014 / 21:10

Thank you, Farzana. :) Yes!! The Lace Is On is gorgeous, isn’t it?

You must get your hands on the Yankee Candle – it’s perfect for this weather. 😉

  8. Ilona Fourie 29 April 2014 / 22:07

I just love reading these posts from you. It’s so nice to get to know you better. It’s also so refreshing and amazing how similar we are except for the tea…….. I just love coffee and will have it I all shapes sizes and as many as possible.

Aaah, thanks Ilona! Looking forward to meeting you at the Dove #BeautyIs meetup this weekend! x

P.S. Coffee will always be my number one fave…but a girl’s gotta eat rusks every now and again! 😉

  9. Lily 29 April 2014 / 23:05

So glad you did this tag, the weather here in Texas has been crazy, almost makes me wish it was Autumn again! Haha!
Oh my gosh! I wish I could give you a piece of pumpkin pie with a latte over the computer so you could have a bite of yummy goodness. Sigh. If only…
    Enjoyed reading this!

    • Luzanne 30 April 2014 / 13:58

Haha! A couple of months ago I was longing for Autumn and I’m pretty sure I’ll be longing for Spring soon…especially when I see all the makeup and nail polish collection arriving in the US! Hah!

Gurl, I wish you could! I’d probably take the whole pie from you though! 😉

    • Luzanne 5 May 2014 / 20:08
