South African BIOVEA Haul – Too Faced, Real Techniques & Burt’s Bees

BIOVEA South Africa Haul

I’ve made the discovery of the century!  If you live in South Africa, then you know finding a local online store that stocks well-known international brands is like hitting the jackpot!  To be honest, actually Leigh discovered this website – she mentioned where she purchased her Crest teeth whitening strips on Twitter a few months ago and I immediately hopped onto the website to check it out.  I was ecstatic to see lots of international brands sold at reasonable prices.

Ladies (and a few gents), if you are looking for a trustworthy online store – check out BIOVEA (they have warehouses situated all over the world, one of which is in South Africa).  I purchased my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette on their website (by the way, have you entered to win your very own Chocolate Bar Palette?) and received my parcel within TWO DAYS.  Here’s what I love about this website:

♥  They stock brands such as Too Faced, EOS, Real Techniques, Benefit, Macadamia, Sexy Hair, Milk_Shake, Burt’s Bees and Crest (plus many, many more brands) at relatively affordable prices.  Now…when I say affordable I don’t mean super cheap, I mean they don’t add a markup of 70% or 100%.  Some South African-based companies charge more than double the price of what one would pay in the US or UK and it drives me absolutely dotty.  I totally understand they need to add a markup to cover their import costs (and still make a profit) but 100% to 120% markup?  *shakes head*

♥  Courier delivery takes place within 1 to 3 working days after you have placed your order (thank goodness because I have just about reached my limit with SAPO).

♥  Delivery is FREE if you spend more than R 299,00 – which isn’t difficult since they stock products such as the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (R 83,00), Cover Girl Blush (R 79,00), Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser (R 126,00) and Real Techniques Blush Brush (R 119,00).

♥  They have a great returns policy – if you are dissatisfied with a product for any reason within the first 30 days of purchase, you may return it for an exchange or full refund.

♥  They are a proud sponsor of over 20 global charities, with a particular focus on underprivileged children.  Other charities they support include: ASPCA, Red Cross, UNICEF and (to name a few).

♥  They have a ‘Request A Product’ feature, so you can send them more information regarding a specific product you are looking for and they will see if they can order it for you.

Let’s take a look at what I bought this last time (I’ve ordered from them a couple of times already):

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes A La Mode Melted Liquified Lipstick Melted Fig

♥  Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Eyeshadow Palette – R 535,00

♥  Too Faced A La Mode Eyeshadow Palette – R 535,00

♥  Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Fig – R 316,00

Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme White Tea Facial Towelettes

♥  Burt’s Bees White Tea Extract Facial Towelettes – R 82,00

♥  Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme – R 115,00

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge Blush Brush

♥  Real Techniques Blush Brush – R 119,00

♥  Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – R 83,00

I know selected Foschini stores currently stock some of the Real Techniques makeup brushes but I’ve seen the list, and only a very select few stores stock RT brushes (like only 10 stores in the whole of South Africa).  And from what I’ve seen so far, the Miracle Complexion Sponge is cheaper on BIOVEA – whoop!

P.S.  You can bet your biffy I’ll be reviewing some of these products!  Let me know if there are any specific ones you would like me to review first, I’m happy to oblige…

Waking up to a post like this makes my heart so happy I want to scream…. ok Im going to scream aaaaahhhhhhhh! I dont know what to say. Im on that website right now and forget about the bank balance this time. There are too many things I have wanted. First on my list is that Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick and Burts Bees Sensitive facial cleanser and of course I will see many other things.
Thank you for sharing this absolute gem with us!!!!!

    • 21 April 2015 / 22:40

Gosh, you just leave the best comments!! I always look forward to reading your and Simone’s comments on my blog posts. 😉

How awesome is the website!? Next on my list are the Crest white strips, I’ve only ever managed to buy single sachets on eBay but shipping usually takes soooo loooong. Now I can place an order for a whole box and have it delivered in a few days…chop-chop!

You’re welcome, Carmen. Happy to enable you ladies!

Has anyone here bought from Biovea as I’ve read many complaints about this company on

      • 15 April 2016 / 14:31

Hi Chantelle – please see my reply to Liz D below. She had the same query. It’s unfortunately always a chance you take when ordering online – if you don’t feel comfortable ordering from BIOVEA then rather see if you can find the products you are looking for elsewhere. 🙂

Onmiddellik die website gaan oopmaak!!! Hmm….
Voorspel dat my beursie aansienlike skade aangedoen gaan word.

Geniet jou kuier in my geliefde Kaapstad! Dis so effens koud hier vandag, maar die res van die week lyk weer meer na somer….Gaan maak n draai by Shimmys Beach Club vir n namiddag-cocktail hier teen die einde van die week wanneer dit warmer is.

You girls must have shopped up an absolute storm as all they brushes are sold out!

      Go you! 🙂

      • 21 April 2015 / 22:43

Ek het gister bietjie op die website gaan kyk en het gesien daar is so baie goed wat uitverkoop is!! Lyk my mense het lekker geshop! 🙂

    • 21 April 2015 / 22:43

I love love the look of that Blush brush… I just want to sit and rub it all over my face all day. Just looks so fluffy!

Where can I find the list of which Foschini stores will stock the brushes? Any chance PE is on that list?

Can’t wait to see the reviews for these products! Thanks for sharing this find with us…yay!!

    • 21 April 2015 / 22:48

The blush brush is so soft and fluffy, I own 2 now – 1 for blush and 1 for bronzer. It’s amazing!

Here is a list (in case you haven’t been able to find it yet): Canal Walk, Cresta , Gateway Centre, Somerset Mall, Westville Pavillion, Chatsworth, East Rand Mall Boksburg, N1 City, Tygervalley. Nothing for PE unfortunately… 🙁

  4. 13 April 2015 / 09:30

I bought my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge from Biovea and am beyond happy with it! It’s amazing! Now that I know the service is so great, I’ll be placing another big order after payday this month (already making a note of stuff that I want!).

I popped into Foschini in Gateway on Saturday – they had already pretty much sold out their Real Tecniques brushes, they only had a compact blush/bronzer brush and a silicone eyeliner brush left – neither of which I needed… I even asked the sales lady when they’d be getting more in, and she couldn’t tell me.

    • 21 April 2015 / 22:51

I am so happy to have discovered the website!! I haven’t started using the sponge as yet but I’m hoping it’s as good as my beloved Beautyblender.

Foschini should definitely roll out to more stores, 10 stores in the whole of SA is just not enough.

Thanks for leaving a comment, Siobhan. 🙂

Do you have to pay customs when you order from biovea?

      • 26 October 2015 / 18:09

No, their warehouse is in South Africa – so no customs or duties are charged. 🙂

    • 21 April 2015 / 22:54

That is first on my list of reviews – the Melted lipsticks and the RT Miracle Complexion Sponge. 🙂

    13 April 2015 / 12:01

This is the post of the century!!!!! I am literally bouncing off the walls with excitement! I almost forked out a fortune last week to order some stuff from Sephora via a 3rd party USA shipping service but I just couldnt bring myself to pay nearly R1000! And Im still waiting (4 weeks now) for my Michael Todd order! Eek! Those Too faced melted lipsticks have been calling my name FOREVER!!!

    • Nicole Bekkers
      13 April 2015 / 15:10

The horror! The real techniques brushes are out of stock! And no chocolate bar palette! Wouldnt be surprised if half of South Africa went on to this site after this post! They need to stock up fast!!

      • 21 April 2015 / 22:58

Bwahaha!!! I also went onto the website yesterday and saw a lot of the things are out of stock… BUT hopefully that means they’ll have new & exciting products available soon!

    • 21 April 2015 / 22:57

YAAAAY! You’re comment brought a huge smile to my face – thank you, Nicole! 😀

I just can’t get myself to pay that amount of money for a third party to deliver it to SA, I’ve looked up the costs in the past and just gave up basically. If I remember correctly I waited almost 2 months for my Michael Todd parcel to arrive (and that was back in 2012 before SAPO started with their strike nonsense). I hope you receive your goodies soon!

  12. 13 April 2015 / 12:54

    hallelujah! Thanks for sharing.
Just one question about the burts bees face wipes – do they remove eye make up well?

    • 21 April 2015 / 23:17

They remove eye makeup really well, I can use only one wipe for the whole of my face & eye makeup. The wipes are so soft (not abrasive at all) and the formula doesn’t irritate my eyes. Plus, I love that the wipes are 99% natural (and smells good too!).

    13 April 2015 / 13:10

My credit card is CRYING after reading this!! Simultaneously loving and hating this post because my budget is going to go completely out the window with this site!!
Please can you review the Real Techniques sponge vs BeautyBlender… Really interested to know how they compare!
Thanks in advance for all the hours of shopping that I know are going to happen… 🙂

    • 21 April 2015 / 23:19

Hahahahaaaa! I shall do that for you, will start testing out the RT sponge tomorrow. I am hoping it is as amazing as my beloved Beautyblender, because it’s so much more affordable. 😉

      Happy shopping, Gina!

Ok so I was all set to order from Biovea but then discovered a long sting of complaints on against them for non- delivery/non- existent tracking numbers/not all items ordered in package delivered and on and on. And not all of them satisfactorily resolved either. Has really scared me off them…How long have you been using them? Anyone else here had bad experiences?

    • 21 April 2015 / 23:28

Don’t be scared off – the way I see it is there are bound to be slip-ups or human errors involved, especially when it comes to online shopping. For example, I love and I’ve never had any issues with delivery or the quality of the clothes they sell. I’ve placed a lot of orders on their website and yet, when you go to look at complaints for Spree, you find pages and pages and pages.

If you place an order and you feel you want to get in contact with the SA-based warehouse, let me know – I have a contact number.

  23. 16 April 2015 / 14:10

    Hi Luzanne.

Such an awesome post. I have been following your blog for a few months now, and you have inspired me to create my own. I love it, and I’m so excited to share things with readers.

    Keep up the good posts.

Would love to try Burt’s Bees foot creme, specially now during winter! Great photos!

    • 21 April 2015 / 23:29

Yes, I think I’m going to get a lot of use out of the foot cream during the cold, dry seasons ahead. 🙂

      Thanks, Mom! xo

  25. 20 April 2015 / 07:43

Oh this is wonderful! I always stock up on Crest strips while I’m in America but it’s great to know I can get them here too.

    • 21 April 2015 / 23:30

I love the Crest strips, I’ve always ordered them off eBay but only managed to find single packets and shipping was always a pain (took so long to arrive). I’m definitely placing an order for a whole box on Biovea soon. 😉

    Hi <3

Do you know which Foschini stores in Cape Town sell the RT Brushes?

    • Lalannie
      28 April 2015 / 11:51

Found the RT brushes at Foschini in Canal Walk – quite a bit in stock yay! Biovea sells them for cheaper though. Bought the blush brush on Sunday for R169.99 at Foschini (Biovea sells at R119.00) but they are sold out).

Hi there. The RT brushes are on special at the moment and you still get 15% off your first order. My sisters and nieces will soon be owing these brushes (part of their birthday presents). Just placed order now at 23h40 pm on their site. Thanks for sharing. You saved me a lot of money. Brushes are much cheaper than Take a lot…which is where you can find the Bold Metal Collections Take care..
