My March Rubybox arrived last week – hurraaaah! I always get excited when the second week of the month draws closer because I know a little box filled with goodies will be delivered right to my doorstep. It’s like Christmas (or your birthday) once a month – EVERY MONTH! For those of you who don’t know what Rubybox is, it’s a subscription service (although you can cancel at any time) where you receive a selection of beauty editor-endorsed sample beauty products (usually 4 or 5). Price is R 119 per month, which includes door-to-door delivery. Rubybox also has an online boutique stocked with makeup, skin care products, fragrances, beauty tools, nail polishes, hair care products and body care products. You earn RubyRands when you shop online or write reviews on their website on the products you have received and can use these RubyRands to receive discounts on products you purchase in their online boutique. RubyRand members also receive special offers – now who doesn’t like a good special offer / sale!?
As I opened the little information card enclosed in the box, I immediately noticed the word ‘autumn’. “Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” – George Eliot
Now in all honesty, autumn is not my favourite season – give me spring or summer any day! But this year, I am actually looking forward to autumn. Autumn means winter soups, snuggly blankets and experimenting with darker lipsticks or subtle smoky eyes.
This month’s Rubybox includes the following:
♥ Rimmel Colour Show Off Lipstick in Red Fever
♥ Rubybox Head Bands (in turquoise blue and purple)
♥ Diesel Loverdose Eau De Parfum
♥ Sante Naturkosmetik Shower Gel in Coconut Dream
♥ Sante Naturkosmetik Sensitive Day Cream
I was very excited when I saw the lipstick, I absolutely adore the packaging.
Spunky metallic pink packaging with a cute little crown on the lid. I don’t own a lot of red lipsticks or glosses but I have been looking for a good neutral red. I find that some warm-toned red lipsticks can make one’s teeth look a bit yellow and a too cool-toned red washes out my face. This red is perfect.
While the headbands are not quite the colours I would go out and buy myself, I can definitely see myself using these to keep the hair off my face when I use a face mask or wash my face. If not, I can always give them as a gift to my little niece.
I quite enjoy receiving a perfume sample in my Rubyboxes, they are so handy when going on holiday or just keeping in your handbag. I currently have a small mountain of various EDP samples in my cupboard, but I’m definitely not complaining! I also recently made up a little “Bridal Emergency Kit” for my sister-in-law when she got married back in January of this year and included a few of these little perfume samples.
Diesel Loverdose scent is described as “the base notes feature the spellbinding warmth of vanilla infusion mingling with ambrox. Creamy liquorice liqueur mixes with woody scents.” In my opinion, this is a perfume for ladies who like strong, fresh, sweet fragrances. If you normally wear soft florals or crisp, clean citrus scents, this is probably not for you.
I’m looking forward to the Sante Naturkosmetik shower gel, I Iove any type of coconut scent so this is right up my alley. If it smells anything like coconuts, I’ll be all over it.
As for the sensitive day cream, I’m not sure I’ll try it right now. My skin is extremely sensitive at the moment and I’ve had to get rid of most of my ‘drugstore’ products. The only skin care products my skin has been able to tolerate is Bioderma, everything else burns unfortunately. I’ll either wait for a couple of months until my skin is back to normal or I’ll give it to my mom. The product information card does state the Sante Naturkosmetik products contain active, certified organic, plant-based ingredients, extracts and oils which does sound pretty good to me.
Thanks for a lovely Rubybox, Rubies!
