Grab a spoon, guys! The Body Shop’s latest collection is so deliciously fruity, you’ll find it hard to resist scooping this jam-textured scrub into your mouth.
I mentioned this Raspberry collection from The Body Shop in this blog post, and I already knew whilst writing that blog post that I would make a point of getting my hands on the body scrub from the collection. So a couple of weeks ago, I trotted off to a The Body Shop store in Pretoria and picked up this little guy. It’s unlike any other body scrub I’ve experienced before, because it’s not 100% a sugar- or sea salt scrub, it’s a proper fruity jelly scrub with little raspberry pips inside.
What The Body Shop says: This exfoliating body scrub contains raspberry extract and has a gorgeously jammy texture. It leaves skin feeling softer and smoother. Seasonal early-harvest raspberry scent, removes dead skin cells, leaves skin feeling softer and smoother.
My review: I adore a true, juicy raspberry scent and this collection did not disappoint. The reason why this collection is called ‘Early-Harvest Rasberry’ is because these beautiful berries were picked earlier than normal, this means their antioxidant properties were kept intact. What it means for your body, is it will be hit with a fresh raspberry scent that helps to keep your skin radiant, youthful and glowing. Deliciously fruity and sweet (if only this was edible), it jiggles like a jam with real raspberry seeds acting as an exfoliant. I’d be lying if I said the temptation to taste it didn’t cross my mind the first time I tried this. It also contains tiny sugar granules for added exfoliation, which means it’s quite a textured body scrub and yet not abrasive at all. Don’t be fooled, though, this leaves the skin feeling smooth and free of flaky skin. As mentioned before, it’s not your average scrub because it doesn’t lather at all but the seeds do a great job of exfoliating effectively, leaving behind a hint of raspberry scent. It makes for a welcomed change from the usual creamy / oily formulas – it truly is something special.
The pro: The sweet smell and seedy texture is extremely comforting, making my tummy rumble every time I use it. The formula helps to gently exfoliate the skin (it’s not a harsh scrub at all), making it suitable enough for daily use.
The con: I personally don’t have any cons to mention but if you like a scrub that lathers up, then this scrub is probably not for you.
The tip: Follow up with the Early-Harvest Raspberry body butter to enhance the scent and make it last on your body throughout the day.
The price: R 90,00 at The Body Shop stores (I haven’t seen these at Clicks stores).
The Body Shop’s Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub is so fruity, it should be one of your 5-a-day!
I’m really enjoying using this scrub because it’s the perfect amount of scrubby-goodness (my skin is quite sensitive when it comes to body exfoliators, and I can’t use ones that are too harsh / abrasive). If you are in the market for a new body scrub, give this a go – it’s limited edition, though, so hurry!
