Products Popping Up – September 2016

Trust me, you’re going to want to go get a snack (and beverage) before you even attempt to read this blog post.  Go ahead, I’ll wait here…

Oh, and go put all your bank cards in an ice tray in the freezer.  I say this, because there are A LOT of pretty darn amazing goodies in this blog post – and all are launching this month (or they might have launched already).  I should probably apologise in advance, because you’re going to be spending a good amount of money on beauty products this month!

And let’s just ignore the fact that I skipped the August edition of this blog post last month – I unfortunately had a lot going on, and by the time I actually had time to compile the post, it was way too late in the month.  I think I’m going to start uploading these ‘Products Popping Up’ blog posts around this time of the month, mainly because I’ve noticed some brands can only send me info after the first week of the new month.  At least I know that way I’ll be able to include as much new information as possible.

As mentioned in my previous ‘Products Popping Up’ blog post, please remember this is a monthly series where I introduce my readers to all the new products that are launching during a specific month.  It’s important to note: These are not product reviews – the product descriptions / stockists / pricing come from press releases that have been sent to me by the brands themselves.

Always remember – if you would like to see an in-depth review of any of the products featured in these blog posts, you are always welcome to let me know in the comments section below.

Anyhoo, let’s take a look at all the products you can look forward to seeing pop up in-store this month!

Olgani Naturals Oral Health (starting at R48,95) – If you love natural products and care about what you put in- and onto- your body, opt for natural oral care that will effectively clean your mouth and nourish your body.  Olgani Naturals is a brand that cares about the health of the entire body and offers a completely natural oral health care option to protect and care for your teeth and gums.  Their products are free from glycerine, fluoride, sweeteners, foaming agents, artificial preservatives, dyes and flavours, artificial anti-bacterial agents and parabens.

Glycerine can coat the teeth, slowing the natural process of re-mineralisation of tooth enamel and contributing to the formation of dental plaque.  Instead of the need for glycerine in Olgani’s formulae, the principal of ‘oil pulling’ was adopted, using sesame and coconut oils to create a unique signature blend, NutrireB.  NutrireB is a proprietary base combination of rice flour, sesame oil and sea salt.  Rice flour, which is rich in minerals and vitamins, is non-abrasive yet thoroughly polishes the teeth.  Sesame oil moisturizes and nourishes gums and teeth.  Sea salt is a natural preservative, regulating the pH and stimulating production of saliva, your body’s natural mouth wash.

Today the Olgani Naturals range includes a Herbal Refreshing Toothpaste, two different types of mouth wash – Sage & Spearmint and Clove & Xylitol, and the latest addition to the range, Mineral Rich Evening Toothpaste, with Mineralife™ Cal/Mag – the first toothpaste on the market especially formulated for night-time use.

The mineral-rich Olgani Sage & Spearmint Mouth Wash or Olgani Clove and Xylitol Mouth Wash are effective at removing bigger particles between the teeth before brushing, and are also handy to use on the go during the day.  The mouth washes are a dry blend of sea salt, organic herbal extracts and essential oils. A half a teaspoon of the salts quickly dissolves in warm water for a rinse and gargle.  They can also be used as brushing salts – applied directly onto a toothbrush.

Available at Dis-Chem stores and leading pharmacies nationwide.

The products featured below launched last month – I know someone might have missed seeing them in-store, so I decided to add them to the bottom of this blog post:

The Body Shop Superfood Face Masks (R300,00 each) – Sweep away dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, smoother complexion.  These face masks are essential weekly treats – they leave skin feeling softer and smoother, looking brighter and more radiant.  Three of the face masks in this range are vegan-friendly, and 2 are vegetarian-friendly.

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask –  This is a mud-textured exfoliating mask which deeply cleanses and detoxifies the skin.  It is inspired by Ayurvedic traditions, and its tingling mud-texture works to detoxify and unclog skin that needs to release impurities and toxins to help reveal a healthy looking, youthful glow.   Bamboo charcoal is a powerful, detoxifying superfood – it is often found in smoothies and juices, as it is known to adsorb accumulated impurities before carrying them out of the body.

Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask – An indulgent honey-textured moisturising mask which nourishes and hydrates the skin.  Inspired by African healing and soothing rituals, this indulgent melting honey mask works to replenish, restore and comfort skin that needs an intense, nourishing treatment to feel softer and smoother.  The texture of this mask looks and feels so authentic and natural because the formula is 20% Community Trade Honey from Ethiopia.  Blending this ingredient with oils helps it nourish the skin even more, and stops the formula feeling sticky on the skin.

British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask – A refreshing gel-textured moisturising mask which nourishes and hydrates the skin.  Inspired by European bathing rituals, this refreshing gel mask works to moisturise, soothe and tone skin that needs to be quenched and replumped with moisture and comfort to reveal its dewy glow.

Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask – A creamy exfoliating mask which brightens and revitalises skin.  Inspired by Chinese traditions, this creamy exfoliating mask works to brighten, even and revitalise skin that needs an intense treatment to remove dullness and unevenness.

Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask – A fresh gel exfoliating mask which revives and energises the skin.  Inspired by the rituals of Amazonian tribes, this juicy fresh exfoliating mask works to fight the appearance of fatigue, and invigorate and boost the radiance of skin that needs a fast recharge from signs of tiredness and stress.  Acai is an amazing superfood – the berry is often ground into a health powder to add to healthy recipes and smoothies.  It is known to boost energy and the immune system, and in some cultures it is thought to promote long life.  This is because it is packed full of iron, amino acids and anti-oxidants.

Guerlain Abeille Royale (starting at R2770,00) – Developed by Guerlain Research, the age-defying skincare products in the Abeille Royale range are composed of active ingredients with exceptional repairing properties derived from bee products, especially honey from Ouessant Island in France.  The formulas of the 2 new Day Creams and the new Night Cream have been revised to offer even greater effectiveness and sensory pleasure.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Day Cream And Rich Day Cream (R2770,00 each) – Two creams, two textures, two innovative formulas.  At the heart of the new Abeille Royale Day Creams lies a repairing concentrate with a comprehensive action that works on all the key levels of the skin to improve its radiance and the quality of its texture.  It incorporates 2 types of hyaluronic acid: One of high molecular weight that acts rapidly on the surface, hydrates and smoothes the skin, minimising wrinkles and fine lines.  The other of low molecular weight that passes through the skin’s mesh to boost the proliferation of epidermal cells to reduce surface imperfections, boost collagen and fibroblast synthesis in the dermis.

The new Day Cream texture is a perfect balance between richness and lightness.  The texture’s comforting softness can instantly be felt, leaving skin radiant and comfortable.

The Rich Day Cream has an utterly delectable texture as rich as a balm.  Enriched with beeswax butter, derived entirely from natural sources, the formula gently glides over the skin, which instantly appears smoother.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Night Cream (R3235,00) – Optimises our skin’s natural ability to renew itself overnight thanks to Abeille Royale Repairing Concentrate enriched with Moroccan honey, combining an antioxidant and a soothing action.  Moroccan honey’s antioxidant properties target free radicals and decrease their production by more than half.  It also spectacularly reduces prostaglandins E2, pro-inflammatory mediators that contribute to premature skin ageing.  The luscious, silky smooth texture makes application a pleasure and holds the promise of effectiveness on wrinkles, firmness and facial contours during the night, the most conducive time for skin renewal.

Available at Guerlain counters in selected department stores nationwide.

So, tell me….which of the products mentioned in this blog post will you be hunting down at the shops?

Me?  I have my eye on the: Wet n Wild Mega Glo Contouring Palette, Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation, Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Multi-Perfecting Concealer, Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Brush (yes, another makeup brush!), La Roche-Posay products, DKNY Be Tempted Eau De Parfum, Clinique Pop Matte Matte Lip Colour + Primer, Clinique Pop Liquid Matte Lip Colour + Primer, Michael Kors Wonderlust Eau De Parfum, Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel, Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette, LCN Fruit Fusion Hand Peeling, LCN Fruit Fusion Hand Cream, and The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask.

Remember to let me know what you would like to see a review on first!

P.S. I have been buying 1 of the new The Body Shop face masks every few weeks (just so that it’s not this HUGE total of R1200,00 all at once), so at the moment I own 4 of the 5 masks.  I still need the Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask, then I can do a full review for you.

    Hi Lu,

Please do a review on the Stila Eye and cheek Palette and the Maybelline Master Contour stick. Also the Clinique Lipsticks. And the body shop skin defence.

Excited to see the La Roche-Posay products popping up cause I have super sensitive skin! Hope it works though..

Thanks alot for the post.. however, my wallet wont be thanking you 🙂

    Have a wonderful week!!

      19 September 2016 / 09:35

Will do – I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the Stila palette (it’s such good value for money). 🙂

I haven’t used any La Roche-Posay products yet, but keen to give them a go too! xo

Please review that Guerlain foundation and brush, it looks amazing! Also have my eye on La Roche-Posay products, and the Alexander McQueen perfume..swoon

    • Luzanne
      19 September 2016 / 09:37

Will definitely try to do a review on the Guerlain products – the brush looks so interesting (like a powder brush, but it’s for liuid products). 🙂

  3. 13 September 2016 / 10:53

I tried a sample of the old formulation of Lingerie de Peau ages ago and absolutely loved it. The shade I had wasn’t perfect though, so I didn’t commit but I’ve been thinking about it ever since. R900+ for a foundation though? Holy hellfire. Temptalia posted a review saying that even though they’ve updated the formulation, it’s still top notch… and maybe even better than the old one. It’s her favourite foundation as well, so that says something to me. I’m going to get through a few of my makeup items first, I think, before I pick up a better shade sample and consider committing, but it is definitely one of THE products on this list that I’m lusting after.

After that, La Roche-Posay all the way. Seriously. I’ve wanted to get my hands on the matte moisturiser, serozinc (which I heard isn’t launching yet????) and sunscreen, though I’m actually gonna give The Body Shop formulation a try.

    • Luzanne
      19 September 2016 / 09:39

Haha!! I’m definitely going to try to get my hands on the Guerlain products to do a review on the blog (any maybe use in a video too).

Yes, I’ve heard GREAT things about the Serozinc Spray – hopefully they’ll bring it to South Africa soon. I think there’s definitely a market for it, especially with the SA climate. 🙂

  4. 13 September 2016 / 11:21

When will The Body Shop Multi Protection Essence and Cushion Foundation be in store?

    • Luzanne
      13 September 2016 / 12:25

Both are already in-store – I bought the Cushion Foundation last week Friday, and also saw the new Multi-Protection Essence (it’s fab, by the way, the best SPF I’ve ever used!!). 🙂

      • 13 September 2016 / 13:56

Oh I need to go! Does it fall under their 3 for 2? Please say yes!

        • 14 September 2016 / 21:33

I went into the body shop yesterday and got the sunscreen. When they saw me reaching for it, I was told there’s a 3 for 2 on all skincare and makeup 🙂

          • Luzanne
            19 September 2016 / 09:41

My local The Body Shop store said the new face masks weren’t part of the 3-for-2 (I was so disappointed). 🙁

        • Luzanne
          19 September 2016 / 09:40

The face masks were not part of the 3-for-2 (I tried that), but the cushion foundation was. 😉

            24 September 2016 / 14:22

            Hi Luzanne

That’s strange, I got my face mask from the Tyger Valley The Body Shop and it was part of the 3 for 2 face products special! I’m sorry, maybe they were mistaken? The promotion ends tomorow though. 🙁

As an aside I saw the Multiprotection but wasn’t sure if I should get it, definitely will now after your review! Thank you! 🙂

  5. 13 September 2016 / 11:31

Those Stila palettes are well priced! Would love a review on them.

I know the body shop is great quality, but their products are a bit more pricey than I realised.

There’s just too much awesome goodies in this post that I want to try out!

You always have me harassing the Nespresso agent in PE about the new flavours before he even knows about it. lol.

    • Luzanne
      19 September 2016 / 09:44

I agree – the Stila palettes look like good value for money. 🙂

I think The Body Shop still has products that are reasonably prices (their body products), but I think the new skincare and makeup products that are coming out do have a bit of a steep price tag. That’s why I always try to wait for their 3-for-2 promos. 😉

Bwahahahaaaa!!! Tell him to start reading my ‘Products Popping Up’ blog posts! 😉 😀

    • Luzanne
      19 September 2016 / 09:47

LOL! These ‘Products Popping Up’ blog posts always take me aaaaaaaages to write and compile. This one took me 2,5 full days to write and create all the images for the blog post. 🙂

The Oil Infused Micellar Water is bomb – so good!! I’ve been loving the Vichy serum too, it’s super hydrating.

Going to buy the Stila palette (Light), and will start testing it ASAP! 😀

I’ve seen the Botanicals range at the Cotton On at the Mall Of Africa, but I never really had an inclination to purchase anything from the range. If I do, I’ll let you know. xo

    • 21 September 2016 / 08:50

YOH but I can’t believe how much the Vichy Aqualia Thermale serum is going for here in SA.. It makes me want to cry for the bottle that fell on my tiles all that much more Cam 🙁

Super packed post! Thank you, Luzanne. Only the very best handpicked for us 😉

I am loving the body shop!!! That ‘down to earth’ 8-pan pallette… also tried the polishing mask and love it.
The noughty haircare range also looks interesting – please do a review.
The Cotton on body range reminds me of the Aesop brand in terms of design but definately not price – so keen to try and hoping they come to CT stores.

    • Luzanne
      19 September 2016 / 09:49

Yep!! I think this is my longest blog post to date – haha! 😉

The Chinese Ginseng & Rice Polishing Mask is fab – I used mine last night actually. Fortunately Noughty sent me a couple of the products, so I’ll start testing them as soon as I can to do a review.

You’re so right about the packaging of the Cotton On Botanicals range – I’m sure Cpt will get the range soon! 🙂

OMG so many awesome products! The Body Shop will probably be my first stop after payday, and the palettes from Wet not Wildmark and Stila too. Good price on that Stila palette I reckon. Perfect for travelling too. Can’t wait to see your reviews on the Body Shop masks!

    • Luzanne
      19 September 2016 / 09:59

I agree – the Stila palette sounds like it’s great value for money (but only if the formula and pigmentation of the blush and shadows are good). 😉

Just need to get the last Nourishing Manuka Honey mask, then I can do a review on the full range.

SO MANY NEW STUFF!!! I have a feeling my bank account is going to hate me after payday. 😉

I’m going to buy the eyeshadow quad from The Body Shop, a Wet & Wild mascara, and the Sunflowers fragrance from EArden. I was in love with that fragrance when it first launched years ago, so glad they brought it back. And the Nivea cleanser and face wipes, I’ve always loved their products.

Please review the face masks from The Body Shop, and the lip products from Clinique.

Hahah!!! Don’t worry, my bank account is already quite upset with me. 😉

I’ll hopefully be able to review the masks soon – just need to buy the Nourishing Manuka Honey mask, then I’ll have all 5 to do a detailed review. I’m very keen to test the Clinique lippies, especially that liquid lipstick!

The Body shop skin defence and the Wet n Wild contouring palette has captured my heart. I can’t wait to purchase them this month. I always look forward to this post and once again it has not disappointed. Thanks for sharing Luzanne,

So many new products launching! Please please do reviews on the Stila Palette and the Body Shop masks! Had my eyes on the masks for a while but I’m not sure which one I’d like to get?

Wow, there are so many amazing products that were launched this month! It’s been ages since I browsed the makeup and skincare shelves, so I may just fix this soon. I tried a Wet n Wild liquid eyeliner a few months back and it was awful! I hope these liners are better, I’m looking for a good budget liquid liner.
