Products Popping Up – August 2015

New Products Launching - August

It’s that time of the month again – new products launching time!  I know you girls love these blog posts, so I’m going to keep this intro short and sweet.  First of all I would like to thank each and every one of you who have been so supportive these past few days.  It means more to me than you will ever know.  I appreciate all the positive comments, messages and emails and it feels so good knowing that you understand what Tuesdays’ blog post was about.  A few of you may have noticed that I haven’t been very active on social media or here on the blog these past few weeks (except for commitments I had towards brands), there are 2 reasons for this and I will explain both in another blog post.  I guess what I’m trying to say is all the tweets, messages and comments have lifted my spirits in so many different ways and I just want to thank you for that.  I’ll be replying to all the comments on my previous blog post today.

Now, as I like to always start these ‘Products Popping Up’ blog posts off:  Go grab yourself a snack and your current favourite beverage, because we have some very exciting launches to get through.  I’m nibbling on Popcorners (the butter flavour) and sipping on a glass of homemade lemonade.  Have you ever tried Popcorners (they’re gluten free, not that I’m on a gluten free diet)?  They’re so good – Kettle, White Cheddar, Sea Salt and Butter are my favourite flavours.  You can buy them at Dis-Chem.  Plus the Sea Salt one is relatively healthy, and contains only 3 ingredients:  Corn, sunflower oil and sea salt (0 grams of trans fat).  These were initially very hard to find (last year I could only buy them at my local butcher shop) but like I mentioned, you can now buy all the flavours in small or large packets at Dis-Chem.  So goooood!

I’ll wait here until you get back with your snacks…  Ready?  Ok, let’s take a look:

Catrice Kaviar Gauche

Catrice Kaviar Gauche Collection ♥ starting at R 52,95 – Following their successful collaboration at Berlin Fashion Week at the beginning of the year, Kaviar Gauche and Catrice are reuniting again in the Summer to present a mutually developed makeup collection for the most beautiful day in a woman’s life.  Soft pastel shades and contrasting grey stand for a light, avant-garde look and modern romanticism.  Brides as well as all other fans of bohemian chic can look forward to a modern and feminine style.  This collection is currently available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide.

The collection contains a Gilding Eye And Face Palette (R 149,95), Blurring Powder Pearls (R 79,95), 2 lip glosses (R 61,95 each), and 4 nail polishes (R 52,95 each) in light pink, soft lilac, pastel apricot and a warm grey.

Essence Nauti Girl Collection

Essence Nauti Girl Collection ♥ starting at R 24,95 – Various classic blue shades, grey and red define the nautical colour scheme and are combined with fresh apricot, beige and brown.  Plenty of beauty treasures are on board, including four nail polishes, two long-lasting lipsticks and a blush in bright apricot-red with an anchor embossment.  The ultimate highlight is the waterproof eye pencil in cool blue with an integrated sharpener in the lid.  The limited, fruity-aquatic fragrance ensures a wonderfully scented breeze on your skin.

The collection features the Nauti Girl Eyeshadow Palette (R 69,95) that contains 5 trendy shades, a navy blue waterproof eye pencil (R 57,95), a felt-tip eyebrow tint (R 44,50), 2 longlasting lipsticks (R 44,50 each),  matte apricot red blush (R 57,95), 4 nail polishes (R 38,95 each) , a cute nail stickers pack (R 24,95) featuring nautical designs and a ‘Like A Nauti Girl’ fragrance (R 59,00).  The floral-fruity and aquatic scent offers a sparkling freshness with its bergamot, black currant, peach, melon, tangerine and lemon ingredients. Coconut, lotus blossom and oceanic elements in the heart note provide an aquatic, floral touch while raspberry, musk and vanilla add depth in the base note.

I sniffed the fragrance when I visited Dis-Chem earlier this week to check out the collection.  I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the fragrance smells, if you love a fresh & fruity scent then this is definitely a great affordable option for you!

Loreal Professionnel Tecni Art Hollywood Waves

L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Hollywood Waves Fatale ♥ R 296,00 – Sculpting gel-cream gives up to 24 hours of defined looking waves and curls.  Seductively contoured and bouncy waves with enhanced shiny look.  For curls without heat, apply to damp hair and braid in sections.  Once dry, unbraid to reveal bold waves and curls.

L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Hollywood Waves Siren Waves ♥ R 296,00 – Recreate the red carpet look waves and curls that look defined, elastic, soft and shiny.  An innovative elasto-cream texture offers elastic feeling curls with definition, while illuminating the look of hair’s natural shine.   You can also revive and boost fallen curls by reapplying Siren Waves on dry hair.

How amazing is the packaging of the above L’Oreal Professionel products?  The black and pink packaging speaks to me…  You can find these at selected hair salons nationwide.

Essie Cashmere Mattes

Essie Cashmere Matte Collection ♥ R 124,95 each – Created from semi-satin finish and reflective micro-pearls, these nail polishes add a rich, soft-spun effect and provide just the right touch of season-less chic.  The luxurious neutral colour palette was inspired by rich cashmere.  Available exclusively at Foschini stores.

I know these nail polishes don’t look like much in the bottle, but I double dare you to Google a few swatches.  Guaranteed you’ll have to put your tongue back in your mouth.

LOreal Infallible Matte

L’Oréal Infallible Mattifying Base ♥ R 189,95 – This is their priming base in gel-form that mattifies the skin. Instantly transforms skin texture, resulting in a matte finish and velvet soft touch.  Prepares and smoothes skin by minimising imperfections, pores and shine.  Foundation glides seamlessly across it.

L’Oréal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation ♥ R 189,95 – A matte result that lasts up to 24 hours, clinically proven to be waterproof, sportproof and steamproof.  Enriched with Perlite technology, and reduces the appearance of shine up to 24 hours.  Achieve a matte finish that won’t fall flat with this lightweight, longwearing liquid formula.  Available in 8 shades ranging from ‘Vanilla’ (fair) to ‘Mahogany’ (deep).

Available at Edgars, Red Square, Foschini, Clicks and Dis-Chem stores nationwide.

Smashbox Double Exposure Palette

Smashbox Double Exposure Palette ♥ R 895,00 – Think of it as the palette of possibilities.  With shadows that transform when activated with water, Smashbox’s latest innovation is all about mixing it up.  Each shadow changes in 1 of 4 ways when wet – amps up vibrancy, gets deeper, turns metallic or adds sparkle.  The possibilities really are endless.  So in essence, the 14 shadows actually become 28 shades and won’t glaze over.  The kit also contains a  #SHAPEMATTERS insert featuring how-to’s for 6 eye shapes, a special double-ended brush and a Full Exposure Mascara sample.  The Smashbox Full Exposure palette will be available at Red Square, Woolworths and Edgars stores (I’ve already seen it at my local Woolworths store in Centurion Mall).

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara ♥ R 275,00 – For the biggest, boldest, blackest black lashes ever!  With just one coat, you instantly get major volume, length, curl, lift and intense black colour.  Even with multiple coats, this flexible, buildable formula leaves lashes soft with no clumps, flakes, or fall out.  Lash conditioners lock in moisture so lashes stay soft, coat after coat.  The curved brush mimics the eye shape so it’s easy to grab every lash.  Available at selected Stuttafords, Truworths and Woolworths stores, or online at Spree.

Loreal Revitalift Filler HA

L’Oréal Revitalift Filler [HA] – Revealing a new collection of anti-aging skincare products that help correct skin volume loss, a sign of aging that often gets neglected.  The special formulation contains an exceptionally high concentration of skin plumping ingredients Hyaluronic Acid and Fibroxyl, which provide an effective solution to thinning skin, fine lines, wrinkles and volume loss.  Available at Clicks, Dis-Chem and Foschini stores.

Volume Filler Daily Concentrated Serum ♥ R 279,95 – This advanced serum contains high levels of fragmented Hyaluronic Acid, a humectant molecule that helps the skin retain moisture.  Skin resiliency is restored, while the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed.  Apply every morning and evening, dispense a few drops on fingertips and gently massage over entire face, concentrating on areas as needed until thoroughly absorbed.

Volume Filler Daily Moisturiser ♥ R 279,95 – The deeply replenishing formula provides the skin with a powerful combination of ultra-hydrating, re-volumizing ingredients.  Daily Moisturizer is made with concentrated Hyaluronic Acid and Fibroxyl, a moisture-booster, naturally derived from rye seed extract.

OGX Coconut Water

OGX Coconut Water ♥ R 149,99 each – Quench thirsty hair with tropical coconut water, packed with nutrient rich electrolytes to refresh and nourish each strand for unbeatable hydration and shine.  New OGX Coconut Water shampoo and conditioner contain an exotic blend of coconut oil and bamboo extract to revive and hydrate.  The pure and natural paraben- and sulphate-free formula provides weightless hydration to transform thirsty hair into silky, shiny perfection.  Available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide.

Ladies, the Coconut Water range smells incredible!  I bought the shampoo and conditioner about a week ago at Dis-Chem and it is definitely my favourite hair care scent at the moment.  I used the Coconut Milk range about a year ago when OGX first arrived in SA and I liked it, but the Coconut Water one is way better.  Fresh, light and coconutty!  If you like Pina Coladas…  *I don’t know the rest of the lyrics to that song*

OGX Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil

OGX Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil ♥ R 149,99 each – During a season of exposure to salt, water and frizz, the summer weather can be a real drain on the health and appearance of our hair.  If your tresses are feeling limp and looking lacklustre, OGX Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil will help rapidly restore its condition and strength.  Infused with nutrient rich argan oil and rich keratin proteins. The range includes a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioning treatment  and healing oil that ensures that strands are strengthened from within and nourished throughout, reinforcing elasticity and resisting breakage.  Available at Dis-Chem stores (not Foschini).

OGX Kukui Oil

OGX Kukui Oil ♥ R 149,95 each – Make even rainy days a ‘good hair’ day with OGX’s new frizz busting range.  An ancient Hawaiian secret known for its hydrating and waterproofing abilities, Kukui Oil eliminates frizz and leave curls beautifully defined, and bouncing with luminous shine.  Repel humidity and seal in moisture with Kukui Oil shampoo & conditioner, an indulgent combination that gives hair a shimmering, glossy texture that smoothes while keeping humidity at bay.  The Frizz Defying Curl Cream has natural hydrating abilities, which makes this the perfect blend for frizz-free curls.  Available at Dis-Chem stores (not Foschini).

TOP TIP:  Be sure to keep an eye on the blog during the next couple of weeks as I’ll be giving away ALL THREE of the above ranges in a special OGX hamper.

Tangle Teezer Salon Elite Candy Floss

Tangle Teezer Candy Floss ♥ R 230,00 – To welcome those longed for free spirited days Tangle Teezer spun a limited edition colour remix of their world-famous detangling hair brush.  A dreamy combo of ice cool white with sweet-as-candy pink.  Detangling wet and dry hair without any tugs or pulls, it has an innovative centralised concave design that delivers firm, salon style brushstrokes from roots to ends.  Will be available at selected hair salons, or online at Everything Hair and Retail Box.

Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions Precision Lifting & Pore-Tightening Concentrate

Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Precision Lifting & Pore-Tightening Concentrate ♥ R 895,00 – Difficult to treat, visibly enlarged pores are a skin concern affecting over 300 million women globally. Historically, their increased appearance has only been attributed to dirt and oil on the skin’s surface. The truth is that there is another key contributor to enlarged pores. When skin loses its elasticity due to aging, it begins to sag and pores become visibly bigger, resulting in skin that appears older.  Precision Lifting & Pore-Tightening Concentrate  is a clinically tested serum that restores elasticity for more toned and uplifted skin.  Visibly lifts skin and helps re-shape facial contours while noticeably tightening the appearance of enlarged pores.  It’s formulated with key active ingredients, including yeast extract and geranium essential oil that improve skin’s elasticity and overall bounce-back quality.  Yeast Extract  has been studied in the past for its multiple skin benefits, which include anti-oxidant and cell renewal properties, with the ability to improve skin smoothness and texture when introduced in cosmetic formulations.  Geranium Essential Oil has been shown to stimulate biomarkers associated to anti-aging and anti-oxidant benefits, and to protect against the degradation of collagen and elastin.  Will be available at Kiehl’s counters in Edgars stores nationwide.

Marc Anthony Coconut Oil & Shea Butter

Marc Anthony Coconut Oil & Shea Butter ♥ starting at R 119,95 – Formulated for dry and damaged hair, the natural goodness of coconut oil balances these daily negatives and transition hair back to a place of moisture, shine, health and manageability.   The ability of both coconut oil and shea butter to be absorbed into the hair helps to nurture and protect from the inside out.  Their natural moisturising qualities keep your hair supple and shining while nourishing, strengthening and conditioning.

The range consists of a sulphate-free shampoo (R 119,95), conditioner (R 119,95), deep conditioning treatment (R 49,95) and oil treatment (R 139,95).  Available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide.

Marc Anthony Volumizing Collagen Bamboo

Marc Anthony Volumizing Collagen Bamboo ♥ starting at R 119,95 – Formulated for thin, fine, weak or brittle hair.  When you are faced with this issue your one desire is to have fuller hair that doesn’t break with the stress of daily styling.  The Volumizing Collagen Bamboo collection helps you to get extra thick, full, strong hair throughout your hair care regimen – from wash to style – to create big, voluminous, beautifully bouncy hair.  Transform weak, flat, lifeless hair with the strengthening power of bamboo and the extra thickening and plumping power of collagen.  An added dose of biotin and silica offer conditioning, protection and support strength.

The range consists of a sulphate-free shampoo (R 119,95), conditioner (R 119,95), and Extra Volume Thickening Cream (R 139,95).  Available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide.

Marc Anthony Kinky Girls With Wild Curls

Marc Anthony Kinky Girls With Wild Curls ♥ starting at R 119,95 – If you have naturally curly hair, this is the range of products to help you embrace the natural curl texture.  The trick is being able to control it while still keeping its wild, bouncy, voluminous qualities.  Define, nourish and moisturise with an exotic blend of the richest oils in the world.  Formulated with a super blend of exotic shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil and argan oil to add deep nourishment, hydration, softness and shine to extra dry, dull, coarse, frizzy curls.

The range consists of a sulphate-free shampoo (R 119,95), conditioner (R 119,95), and oil treatment (R 139,95).  Available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide.

Wow, this is such an exciting list. I’ve been waiting for so many of these to arrive in SA. Def going to give the OGX Coconut Water and the L’oreal 24H Matte a try. Also keen to smell TBS Italian Fig scent. Thanks for the heads up, once again.

    • 11 August 2015 / 10:02

The Coconut Water shampoo and conditioner are incredible, definitely my current favourite duo! The L’Oreal 24H Matte foundation has received so many rave reviews from overseas bloggers and YouTubers, and with good reason. Will definitely do a review on both the primer and foundation soon.

  16. Nicole Bekkers
    9 August 2015 / 17:55

Cant wait for TBS fig perfume! I saw Fleur from Fleur de Force rave about this and I really like fresh scents. Always a struggle to find. I would love a review from you on the infallible foundation before buying it. I know all the bloggers overseas are raving about it, but sometimes I am skeptical when that happens because hype is a real factor! I think your reviews and opinions are always spot on and Ive never been disappointed.

    • 11 August 2015 / 10:05

I think the Italian Summer Fig fragrance will get me excited for Spring and Summer, can’t wait to see it on the shelves in The Body Shop! 🙂

I’ll definitely do a review on both the L’Oreal Infallible primer and 24H matte foundation soon, so keep your eyes peeled. 🙂

Some inetresting products this month. I have already gone in search of the popcorners and they are so yummy. My fav is white cheddar.
So the search continues for the other products i would love to try like hollywood waves, ogx coconut water shamps and conditioner. I found the keratin but would really love to try the kukui oil I see Zoella and Caroline Hirons talk about it in there favorites videos a lot. Also – I dont really use perfume but I would love to try the Fig scent from the body shop. i love figs so I hope I will like the scent. I imagine it to be very fresh yum.

    • 11 August 2015 / 10:06

I finished a bag of the butter flavour and the white cheddar flavour this weekend – eeeek! 😀

If you like tropical coconut type scents, then you will LOVE the OGX Coconut Water duo. Sooooo goooood!

      You’re so welcome, Mahlaku! 🙂

    11 August 2015 / 11:09

Yay another blog post. So addicted lol.
Just a question please. Is the OGX coconut milk more for dry hair than the coconut water duo?
And any idea if we have Loreal Infalliable eyeshadows available in SA?

    • 13 August 2015 / 14:01

Haha! So happy to hear you enjoy these blog posts. Yes, I’d say the coconut milk version is a bit more nourishing, the coconut water one is lightweight, yet hydrating. If you have dry / frizzy hair, I’d recommend the coconut milk duo. But if you have normal type hair that needs the extra hydration without weighing it down, then go for the coconut water duo. Gosh, I can’t tell you how good the coconut water products smell. 🙂

If you are referring to the Infallible pressed pigment eyeshadows in the little flat jars, then yes we do have them in SA. Not all the shades though. I saw a couple of them on sale at Dis-Chem about a week ago. 🙂

I actually saw the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte foundation at my local Edgars store (in Centurion Mall) at the end of July already but it’s the only store so far where I have spotted it. I think they’ll be rolling out to all the other stores (Clicks, Dis-Chem etc) soon.

It genuinely makes me so happy to hear when my readers enjoy my blog posts, thank you for leaving such a kind comment. 🙂

I have a complaint about your blog and I think I am going to have to stop reading it. Luzanne, you are single-handely putting me at risk of bankruptcy! Since I discovered your blog, my online shopping has reached levels that have my family planning interventions 🙂 The aramex delivery guy knows me by name and commented on how well my patio plants are doing (“lots of new leaves!”). If the delivery men are familiar enough with my house to notice the state of my fauna and flora, then I know we’ve got problems.

But in seriousness, thank you for your always insightful, well-researched and down to earth blogging. Even though my bank is crying, I have lots of new “toys” to play dress up with <3

I’m itching for L’Oreal’s Infallible base and foundation. Their lippies are my absolute faves! Also Marc Antony’s Coconut and Shea Butter line…they all look delish and are on my August wish list!

    • 13 August 2015 / 14:07

The foundation is really good for combo to oily skin, but I imagine even normal skin types will be suitable. It’s a bit too matte for me right now, since my skin is SO dehydrated at the moment. But I can see the primer and foundation reaching holy grail status during the hot Summer months. 🙂

Just love your blog and posts! ANY idea when the loreal base is launching?? Just dying for it!!

    • 13 August 2015 / 14:09

Thank you so much, Sian. 🙂 I’ve already seen the foundation at my local Edgars store in Centurion Mall (but it’s the only store so far where I’ve spotted it). It will definitely roll out to all the other stores during this month, so just keep checking at Clicks and Dis-Chem. 🙂

    Hi Luzanne!
I’ve been waiting for the L’Oreal 24H Matte foundation and primer with bated breath! Can’t wait to make a purchase.
Thanks so much for this post!

    • 13 August 2015 / 14:11

Me too! Fortunately L’Oreal sent me both a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been testing it on and off ever since. It’s a bit too matte for me at the moment but only because my skin is in a very weird state at the moment (dehydrated and sensitive), but I can see this becoming a firm favourite during the Spring and Summer months ahead. 🙂

I love reading your post and have actually gone and tried most of the products you have reviewed and I have to say I have not been disappointed once…and I have recommended my friends to try it as well

since I am such an ardent coconut user, I am most definitely going to try out the coconut shampoo ,I use the coconut oil on my hair before my daily swim to minimise the chlorine in my hair and it works wonders….
