Products Popping Up – April 2015

New Products Launching April

I really love writing these blog posts, because I always get so excited about all the new products that will be launching during the month ahead.  Today we’re taking a look at all the goodies that will be popping up around the shops, and this time around I’m featuring beauty products, a few food-y type items, and DIY home décor goodies too.  If you’re into flavoured coffees (for example Ginger Bread, Irish Cream, Double Chocolate), then you’re going to want to keep reading…

It’s going to be a long one, so go grab a nice cup of tea (or coffee) plus a snack…I’m sure you have a few Easter eggs or hot cross buns lying around?  By the way, have you tasted the Woolworths Apricot & White Chocolate hot cross buns?  They’re soooo goooood… *smacks lips*

CATRICE Absolute Rose Absolute Matte Eyeshadow Palette

Catrice Absolute Rose Eyeshadow Palette (R 89,95) – Soft nudes and trendy rose shades, some matte & some shimmery.  If you missed out on this eyeshadow palette, you might want to check the Catrice one out.  I bought this palette at Dis-Chem last week, would you like me to do a review on it?

Catrice Absolute Matt Eyeshadow Palette (R 89,95) – Six silky matte shades with a soft texture and intense pigmentation in just 1 palette.  This everyday neutrals palette features shades ranging from soft rose to warm / neutral browns.

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr Rescue

Maybelline is launching their limited edition Baby Lips in the Dr. Rescue version, you can take a look at this video where I featured the Coral Crave balm.  Baby Lips Dr. Rescue medicated lip balm provides care that soothes sore lips, with a hint of eucalyptus that combats dryness.  Available in natural tints to even out lip tone for healthier-looking lips.  Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue is available at Dis-Chem, Clicks and Foschini stores and retails for R 34,95.

I really like these lip balms, they smell like a mix of Zam-Buk and Wicks chappies to me.

Beanies Coffee

Beanies flavoured instant coffee will be popping up in Checkers and Checkers Hyper stores during the month of April – and I’m SO excited!  The lucky people of Cape Town have apparently already seen these at selected stores in March already, but the official release date is April 2015.  The best part about Beanies coffee?  Only 2 calories per cup and it’s sugar free!  Take a look at the flavours above and tell me they don’t get you all excited…?  Each jar will retail for R 39,99 – not a bad price, hey?

LOreal Skin Perfection

L’Oréal is launching their much anticipated Skin Perfection range.  In your 20’s and early 30’s, your skin is young but not always perfect.  Stress, fatigue and an unbalanced lifestyle can affect skin quality causing irregularities to appear including enlarged pores, uneven skin texture and fine lines.  This is their first correcting skincare range that acts on pores, texture and fine lines to visibly improve the appearance of skin quality.  Get yours at Clicks and Dis-Chem stores.

♥  Skin Perfection Correcting Serum (R 124,95) – A powerful formula enriched with ingredients to soothe redness and reduce pores.  This serum optimises the structure of the epidermis to help transform the appearance of skin quality.  Apply morning and evening before using your day moisturiser.

♥  Correcting Day Moisturiser (R 124,95) – Enriched with actives this formula helps transform the skin to look pixel perfect.  Pores look virtually undetectable, tone looks more even, and skin texture feels silky-soft.

♥  Skin Perfection Correcting Eye Care (R 124,95) – Helps transform the appearance of the eye contour.  Dark circles, eye bags and fine lines appear reduced. The tinted, refreshing eye cream brightens and illuminates tired-looking eyes.

Essie Fall 2014 Dress To Kilt Collection

The Essie Fall / Autumn 2015 collection will be on Dis-Chem, Clicks, Foschini and selected beauty salon shelves this month, and will retail for R 110,00 per bottle.  Essie’s new nail polish collection, Dress to Kilt, encompasses all of the trends we saw walk down the runway, bringing them right to your fingertips.  The 6 shades will allow you to go bold with a splash of cobalt blue, or keep things understated with a muted shade of teal.  Seasonal staples like mahogany and taupe are ideal neutrals that work with any fashionable fall / autumn frock.

♥  Style Cartel – an inky cobalt blue.

♥  Take It Outside – a punchy, fresh taupe.

♥  The Perfect Cover Up – a powerful peacock teal.

♥  Dress To Kilt – a seductive red.

♥  Fall In Line – an enigmatic jade green.

♥  Partner In Crime – a rich, dark chocolate brown.

Lancome Belle De Teint

Lancôme Belle de Teint is their first natural glow, healthy skin powder.  Belle de Teint recreates the natural radiance of healthy, luminous skin; perfect skin’s surface texture, thus amplifying its radiance; naturally beautify and enhance the complexion’s colour.  Because fair skin does not reflect light in the same way as more intense complexions, the iridescence level of Belle de Teint is tailored to suit each shade for an even more natural look.  The lighter the shade, the lower the pearl pigment concentration; the darker it is, the greater the concentration of pearl pigments to create contrast.  Belle de Teint has a complete range of 8 shades to fuse with every complexion, from the fairest to the darkest.

♥  Shades 01 to 03 are created for fairer complexions and thus contain no pearl pigments, for a matte natural glow effect.

♥  Shades 04 to 06 are created for more tanned complexions and are subtly iridescent for a luminous natural glow effect.

♥  Shades 07 and 08 are designed for the darkest complexions and are highly iridescent for an ultra-luminous natural glow effect and to combat ‘ashen’ undertones.

Lancôme Belle De Teint will retail for R 599,00 and will be available at Lancôme counters in selected Edgars, Red Square, Stuttafords, Woolworths, Foschini and Truworths stores.

LOreal NutriLift Gold

L’Oréal will also be launching their NutriLift Gold Anti-Aging Foundation, enriched with 6 active ingredients this foundation is marketed toward suiting more mature skin types.  Gold micro particles are used for a radiance boosting lift, plus Pro Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and collagen will give the appearance of smoother, firmer and more radiant looking skin.  This foundation also contains an SPF20, which is always a great addition to any foundation.  NutriLift Gold will be available in 6 shades & will retail for R 234,95 at your local Clicks, Dis-Chem, Edgars and Foschini stores.

Nespresso Monsoon Malabar

The new limited edition Monsoon Malabar promises to take you on a sensory journey, courtesy of Nespresso.  With an intensity of 8, Monsoon Malabar is an intense coffee that will delight those looking for strength thanks to its bold character and its unique taste.  Monsoon Malabar also possesses the perfect profile to be paired with milk, which reveals cereal and biscuit aromas while keeping its intense character.  Priced at R 79,00 per sleeve Monsoon Malabar will be available for a limited period at Nespresso boutiques or online here.

REN Rose Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser

I have been waiting for the REN Hot Cloth Cleanser to arrive in SA for quite some time, I even mentioned it in my ‘July 2014 Favourites’ blog post.  You guys know me, anything that features the words ‘hot cloth’ and ‘cleanser’ in the product name will be scouted out & tested by me.  A rich and velvety two-phase cleanser, formulated with toning and reviving Rosa Centifolia extract and nourishing Cocoa butter.  Thoroughly removes dirt, makeup and mascara, and gently polishes away dead skin cells to leave the skin purified, refreshed and radiant.  Apply to dry skin and gently massage over the face, neck and closed eyes for a couple of minutes.  Place the hot cloth over your face to open pores, before gently wiping away the cleanser.  Finally, rinse face with cool water to close pores.  The REN Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser will only be available at Woolworths stores from the 20th of April, and will retail for R 330,00.

FHI Heat Stylus

FHI Heat unveiled their Stylus this month – it has all of the qualities of a brush, but can heat up to 400°F. With this one hair tool you can smooth, touch-up, de-frizz, style, re-style, control or create volume, lift, waves, curls, bumps, flips and bends.  Stylus uses a ceramic heater that produces quick, even heating across the brush for long-lasting styling results.  The brush tips have 6 rows of short, smooth nylon teeth for tangle-free glide and effortless styling.  The tourmaline technology (red area) conducts heat for styling power, locks in moisture, reduces static and leaves hair silky smooth.  FHI Heat Stylus is available online at Everything Hair (R 1995,00) and Retail Box (R 1999,00).

The Stylus also features:

♥  5 fingertip-control temperature settings from LOW 250°F to HIGH 400°F for safely styling all hair types, from fragile to coarse.

♥  On/Off and temperature control button.

♥  1 hour Auto shut-off.

♥  Extra-long 360° swivel cord.

LOccitane Iris Bleu Iris Blanc

L’Occitane will be launching their new La Collection de Grasse Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc fragrance during the month of April.  This magnificent composition brings together the most beautiful species of Iris: Iris Pallida (the blue Iris) and Iris Florentina (the white Iris).  The blue Iris Pallida used in this scent has been grown in Grasse region (in France), specially for L’Occitane. With its rich, velvety notes, it shapes the fragrance. A white Iris Florentina, chosen in its native Mediterranean lands, lights up this precious scent, enveloping it in a luminous transparency.

Top notes feature blackcurrant and citrus, with heart notes of iris, ylang-ylang & peach, and base notes of iris, cedar and white musk linger.  The collection will feature a shower gel (R 235,00), a body milk (R 370,00), a hand cream (R 120,00) and a beautifully packaged Eau De Toilette (R 825,00).  Available at L’Occitane boutiques (click here to find your nearest boutique) and in the L’Occitane SA online store.

Lip Ice Tinted Gloss

Lip Ice is launching their new range of tinted gloss balms, available in 4 variants: Bubblegum Kisses, Summer Melon, Strawberry Sorbet and Sweet Mint.  The new Lip Ice Tinted Gloss has the ultimate 3-in-1 benefit:  Moisture & care (shea butter & Vitamin E), a subtle tint for your lips, and a glossy finish.  These will retail for R 19,99 at Dis-Chem, Clicks and other retail outlets.

The Body Shop Fiju Green Tea

Boy, oh boy…am I excited about this new collection from The Body Shop!  I haven’t had the pleasure of sniffing anything from the range yet, but will definitely be doing so as soon as I see the new range in-store.  We all know that green tea has antioxidant qualities. With its detoxifying health benefits, green tea has been revered for over 400 years in social and cultural activities, including the Japanese Tea Ceremony.  But did you know that some Japanese women apply it to their skin and bathe in it? It’s a skincare secret that’s been part of beauty regimes for generations, believed to help retain moisture and tighten pores.

The Fuji Green Tea collection is the first body care range infused with real green tea leaves hand-picked in  the heartland of Japan.  The collection will feature an exfoliating soap bar (R 80,00), a body butter (R 150,00), a body scrub (R 140,00), a body sorbet (R 130,00), a body lotion (R 130,00), a body wash (R 99,00), a Eau De Cologne (R 180,00), a very interesting bath tea (R 225,00), plus a bath infuser (R 115,00) that is to be used with the Fuji Green Tea bath tea.

The bath tea and infuser uses real whole green tea leaves to create a detox tea bath for your body, cleansing and helping to remove toxins.  Awaken and revive the senses with the sophisticated aroma of the citrus-fresh scent of Fuji Green Tea Eau de Cologne.  It’s the perfect blend of green tea, bergamot, lemon and mandarin top notes with a floral heart of camellia, jasmine and violet. Refreshingly light and crisp, it’s a classic scent for daytime sophistication.

NIVEA Honey & Milk Cream Liquid Hand Wash

Harnessing the caring properties of milk & honey, NIVEA launches its new Honey & Milk Cream Liquid Hand Wash, which feels  decadently creamy and lathers up to a soft foam.  The rich and nourishing cleansing formula is infused with milk proteins and honey to protect and deeply nourish your skin, caring for your hands as you wash.  Your hands feel luxuriously soft and smooth after washing, and to top it off, the gentle scent of honey, emphasized by soft floral notes, leaves you feeling indulgently pampered.  Milk contains lactic acid, which is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), serving as a natural, gentle skin exfoliant which also moisturises the skin.  Honey is highly regarded for its anti-bacterial and skin-nourishing properties.  The NIVEA Honey & Milk Cream Liquid Hand Wash will retail for R 27,99 at Dis-Chem & Clicks stores, and other leading retail outlets.

  3. 7 April 2015 / 12:48

I love these posts. I already picked up the Catrice Rose palette but they didn’t have the Matte one. Also looking forward to the Loreal Skin Perfection range and Dr Rescue Babylips. Thanks Luzanne

    • 10 April 2015 / 15:50

I also didn’t see the Matte one when I bought the Rose palette, will keep looking to review it on the blog.

      You’re welcome, Nisa. 🙂

    thanks for the lovely post…..

    • 10 April 2015 / 15:51

I’ll definitely do a review soon – we’re heading down to Cape Town tomorrow and although I’ve prepared blog posts while I’m gone, I will only be able to review the palette once we’re back on the 17th.

The Baby Lips Dr. Rescue lip balms are fantastic!!

OMG where do I start?????? the hotcross buns to die for. Love struck over the Catrice Rose palette. I hope I can get it in stores when in launches. The people in Cape Town have all the luck – im probably going to try most of those coffees because I roll like that…. ok maybe not the chocolate and orange and double chocolate meh.
Im not sure about the baby lips I have tried the ones on the market and they seem to dry out my lips so much. On days i dont wear lipgloss or lipstick (yes I have a few lipsticks thanks to you) I will opt for a lip balm and when I use my babylips I feel llike I have to reach for it a lot. My lips dont feel chapped but its almost not long lasting for me. maybe these Dr Rescue will rescue me and my dry lips
Now can we please have a moment of silence for those nail polishes. All of them except partner in crime. Love love love.

    • 10 April 2015 / 15:55

I’ve been looking for the hot cross buns this whole week but I think the special flavoured ones have been discontinued since Easter is over… 🙁 Booooooo!

Me too! Me too! I’m dying to get my hands on the Irish Cream, Cinder Toffee, Ginger Bread and Very Vanilla ones first though…

The Dr. Rescue versions are nothing like the original ones – I also wasn’t a fan of the original Baby Lips, these limited edition ones are definitely different. Very moisturising and feels so fresh on the lips. 😉

I agree, the polishes are gorge! Keep a lookout for a review soon! x

I look forward to these posts every month and they never disappoint! Makes me excited to go browse the isles looking for them. 🙂
Please could you do a comparison/review on the REN Hot Cloth Cleanser compared to the dirty works one?

    Thanks for the awesome blog!

    • 10 April 2015 / 15:58

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for when the Hot Cloth Cleanser launches in Woolies and will do the comparison review for you as soon as I can . 🙂

Thanks for popping by the blog, Jaclyn.

Ob-sessed with these blog posts, I look forward to them each and every month! 😀

Now to get my hands on the Loccitane range, Beanies coffee, Catrice matte palette, Fuji Green Tea range, Nivea handwash and the Baby Lips!! My bank account is going to cry by the time I’m done…

Please can you do a review on the Dermaceutic line, I’ve never heard of them as a brand before. 🙂

    • 10 April 2015 / 16:03

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog posts & leave comments, Yolandi – I really appreciate it. 🙂

So many things are on my ‘To Get’ list too!

I’ve tested a couple of their products & I love Dermaceutic. Not sure why I’ve never done a review on the blog before, but will definitely write a review on the Activ Retinol 0.5 serum.

    7 April 2015 / 14:22

Thank you thank you and thank you.

Hot cross buns no matter the flavour they are all my favourite!!!

I did miss out on the L.A. Girl Beauty Brick Nudes and did haunt Dis-chem for the longest time searching for it. Will defs check out the catrice ones – so, please do a review on both the rose and matte.

Not too keen on the baby lips as I bought two and didn’t think they were anything to rave about.

That coffee though… I am an addict so defs going to be buying a few jars.

    Have an awaesome April, Luzanne.

    • 10 April 2015 / 16:17

I’m going to try get my hands on the Matte palette but couldn’t find it in-stock the last time I was at Dis-Chem.

Are you referring to the original Baby Lips, when it launched in SA last year? I also wasn’t really a fan of the original versions but these Dr. Rescue ones are very different for me personally. They’re a lot more moisturising and feel refreshing on the lips.

I’m also quite the coffee addict! A lovely reader of my blog contacted me earlier this week and she’ll be sending me a Cinder Toffee jar as she works for the Shoprite group. Very excited for my first Beanies cup of coffee! 😀

  13. Elrese
    7 April 2015 / 14:34

Oh my word ek moet daai Beanies koffie probeer, dit klink divine! Die nespresso ene is nogal lekker, ons het dit die naweek gekry en gedink dit gaan baie sterk wees, maar dit is nie. Sien altyd uit na hierdie posts 🙂 xo

    Dressed in the City ♥♥♥

    • 10 April 2015 / 16:18

Ek is baie bly om te hoor die Nespresso een is nie te sterk nie, ek prefer die ‘weaker’ versions.

Dankie dat jy altyd tyd vat om my posts te lees, Elrese. xox

I don’t really ever look at products by Catrice but that Matt palette just might tempt me enough 🙂 Excited for new Baby Lips and the Lip Ice 😀

    • 10 April 2015 / 16:20

I must be honest, I also never used to focus on the Catrice stand in the past but I’m trying to get into more of their products since they are one of the more affordable brands at Dis-Chem. Keen to give their products a good testing & will report back! 😉

Ek was nog altyd n Elizabeth Arden Green Tea aanhanger so daardie Body Shop Green Tea reeks is so reg in my kraal, kan nie wag nie!
Geniet al die laaste paashase – genadiglik vir my boude kom dit net een keer n jaar…

    • 10 April 2015 / 16:26

    8 April 2015 / 11:30

Okay….so tell me which bank to rob to buy at least half of the stuff on this list? he he

Before I start with this… So halfway with my pregnancy now and I can finally eat a little bit more. Immediately I picked up the coconut lindt balls…OH.EM.GEE! Were they good!!!!!!!

Bummed as I have not found that flavour of hot cross buns at all at our woolies…only the chocolate and I wasn’t loving them too much.

Definitely going to get some of that Nespresso to save for after I’ve given birth. Sounds delish. Um okay….so we can see who can eat again, as I’m only talking about food items….lol.

Will definitely look out for the L’oreal range. It’s something I worry about, using stuff that’s maybe too invasive for my skin. My mom washed her face with lux and water for her 57 years on earth and she barely has one wrinkle. So she always says I shouldn’t use all these products…it’s something I think about. Using them, what if I am doing more harm than good? So I think something made especially for this age group is great!

I got the smoked poppy seed body scrub from the body shop…wowser…I’m in love. My skin feels amazing afterwards. I don’t need to feel guilty about not putting any lotion on. he he. I have seen a mention of the green tea range somewhere and meant to go and get a few goodies, but I was blank when I got there. I’m thinking they didn’t stock it yet as I’m sure they would have mentioned a new range in store.

Okay am going to stop now…I really want that air dryer brush thingamabob…..

Great read!!! Hope you had an awesome long weekend and easter:)

    • 10 April 2015 / 16:54

Aaaaah, I just LOVE these long comments! They really do make my day! Thanks, Simone!

I’m so happy to hear your tummy has settled a bit (even if only a little bit), and even more happy to have introduced you to the amazingness of the Coconut balls… YUM!

Meh, I didn’t even attempt to try the chocolate hot cross buns as I just knew I wouldn’t enjoy them.

Definitely picking up the Nespresso pods when we’re in Cape Town next weekend, we always buy a few sleeves when we’re at the V&A Waterfront. Neal & I are too lazy to drive to Sandton or even order online – haha! 😀

My gran also used to wash her face with a soap bar and applied Like Silk moisturiser – that’s ALL! And her skin was so smooth & gorgeous. I think a lot of us are struggling with skin and health issues because of the food we eat (all the sugar and preservatives are definitely not conducive to clear skin. Always look out for Alcohol Denat. in a skin care product, if it’s at the top of the ingredients list then don’t bring it anywhere near your skin. Alcohol (applied daily to the skin) causes cell death over time.

I’m definitely heading to The Body Shop this weekend, keen to give the new range a big ol’ sniff!

I also want the Stylus, but just can’t spend R 2k on it right now…

Great blog post…once again. Love your work! Please review the Catrice eyeshadow palettes. I eye these up every time I go to Dischem, but just not sure if I should go ahead and purchase yet another palette. Although having an all matte palette from the drug store does appeal. I used the Loreal Skin Perfection whilst living in the UK. I first used the serum but didn’t think much of it, but I then paired it with the matching moisturizer and OMG saw a difference to my skin’s texture overnight.

Thanks, Arleen – will definitely review the Catrice palettes (just need to get my hands on the Matte palette first). I totally agree with you, matte eyeshadows are really hard to come by at the drugstore. I know shimmery eyeshadows are a lot easier to formulate but there is definitely a gap in the market for more matte shades.

Going to start testing the Skin Perfection range soon, it’s not really suited for my skin as I’m at the age where I prefer anti-aging products. But will test it out nonetheless. 🙂

The L’Oreal Skin Perfector Line sounds like just what I need. I will be sure to keep an eye out for it.
