Outfit Of The Day – Winter Casual

Forever New South Africa

The quest for the perfect ‘fit’ in jeans is long and tiresome. For me, they’re either too short, too baggy, or too small around the waist.  I like my jeans tight around the leg area, but not too tight – and one thing you should know about me: I will always choose comfort over trendy.  I’ve received a surprisingly large amount of requests to do an ‘Outfit Of The Day’ (or #OOTD) blog post over the past few months, and I’m not really sure why because 1. I’m definitely not a fashion girl, and 2. I look super awks when I have to pose for outfit photos.  Maybe some of you have seen me at the shops, and liked the outfit I was wearing; or perhaps you’re just keen to see what clothing items I’m into at the moment.  So, that’s what I’m going to do for you today – a proper ‘Outfit Of The Day’ post.

Don’t worry, I’m not becoming a fashion blogger – beauty (and lifestyle) will always be my top passion here on Pink Peonies, but I might just throw in a couple of #OOTD blog posts every now and again to change it up a bit.  I actually had lots of fun with this little ‘photoshoot’ (my friend and fellow blogger Dimi took the photos of me – thanks, Dimi!), and I really wanted to introduce you to a new brand of jeans I was recently introduced to.

Outfit Of The Day South Africa

♥  Freddy WR.UP® Pantalone Lungo Jeans – get it here.

♥  Forever New Tessa Faux Fur Puffa Gilet – get it here (sold out in the online store, sorry!).

♥  Woolworths Organic Stretch Cotton T-Shirt – get it here.

♥  ALDO Dark Brown Boots – Winter 2015 (not available anymore, sorry!)

So, we’ve already established that finding the perfect pair of jeans can be quite a nightmare for me.  Most jeans are too short for me (I’m 1,83m), plus they tend to accentuate all the wrong areas (flabby tummy, saggy bum, and wobbly thighs) – I am close to 35, you know…  Eeeeek!  A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to Freddy jeans, and although it might sound a bit dramatic: My life will never be the same again.

So what are Freddy’s?  First of all, they are the comfiest pair of jeans I have ever worn.  Allow me to tell you about the special design of their pants – their exclusive WR.UP® technology enhances your curves through a shaping & embracing action on your buttocks, thighs and waist.  Although their jeans and other pants (cargo, faux leather, cotton leggings, and active wear) look more like proper trousers (front zip and pockets), they FEEL like figure hugging leggings with their 78% cotton and 22% elastam mix.  The unique Freddy cut really does lift and pull you in in all the right places, plus the silicone band inside the belt adheres to your skin (it doesn’t feel weird or uncomfortable) so they never slip / slide down and give you that dreaded ‘bum cleavage’.

Freddy Jeans

The magic is all in the design of these jeans – high quality fabric with the perfect amount of stretch, combined with strategically placed panels that provide a smoothing and shaping effect to the hips and thighs.  Plus the specially designed seams around the bum area define while creating a supportive lift.  This is pretty darn amazing for someone who naturally doesn’t have much to work with in the bum area.  This might sound clichéd, but I feel confident when I wear these jeans because I know they look good.

Freddy Jeans

Pricing starts at R1499,95 – trust me, these jeans are so worth the price tag.  I am so in love with my Freddy jeans – so much so, that I’m super keen to purchase this pair of ‘Skinny Long Length Black Cotton Pants’Freddy South Africa does have an online store (check it out here), but I suggest you pop in to one of their stores to try on a pair (just to get the sizing right).  For reference, I am a size 12 (jeans or any other pants) and in a Freddy I’m a size ‘L’.

Check out their store finder and list of stockists here.

Freddy currently has 2 competitions running where you could win yourself a pair of Freddy pants (as well as some other goodies) – check out the competition details here and here.

I hope you enjoyed this little ‘Outfit Of The Day’ blog post – let me know if it’s something you would like to see more of, I can’t promise I’ll do a post every month – mainly because I don’t have a photographer on call (Neal doesn’t really know how to take ‘fashion blogger’ photos), but also because my outfits are really not that interesting (or trendy).  Haha!

P.S. Excuse the messy hair and rather tired look in my eyes – these photos were taken when I was in Franschhoek for the Elizabeth Arden junket last week.  I had been up since 4am that morning (travelling) and only slept for about 2 hours the night before – I always worry I miss my early morning flight with these media trips.

P.P.S. Not sponsored, yall.

  4. Una 10 August 2016 / 13:45

Really enjoyed this, I donno why but Ive always wondered what your style is like. I knew you had good taste, but always wondered if you dress for comfort or for fashion. Im the same, much more prefer to feel comfortable in what Im in.

    xx Una

    • Luzanne 11 August 2016 / 11:03

  5. Simone 10 August 2016 / 13:57

    LMAO @ the PSS!

Those jeans look AMAZING! But my fat arse will never fit into them. They look really good on you.

Had no idea you were so tall….so an interesting read finding out some new titbits on our fave blogger <3

I think the pics are fabulous! You look great and the photographer did a great job as well.

    • Luzanne 11 August 2016 / 11:06

Haha! Just had to add that, because I wasn’t sure if people would think it’s a sponsored post since it’s so different to what I usually do. :)

Thank you for the compliment, Simone! Yes, I’m quite tall – most of the time, I’m the tallest person in the room. I used to hate how tall I was when I was in school, but now I don’t really mind it at all.

Yes, Dimi did a great job! And I felt really relaxed and comfortable while she was taking the photos – I guess it’s because I knew she does #OOTD posts too, and know how it feels to have your photos taken. 😉

  6. Isabelle Perkins 10 August 2016 / 13:57

I have the same puff jacket with the faux fur but mine is burgundy, I love it.

    Great post, Luzanne. 😀

    Really enjoyed it!

    • Luzanne 11 August 2016 / 11:07

Oh my goodness, I saw the burgundy one at Forever New and contemplated getting that one too. Then when I went back a few days later they were all sold out! :( I really love these puff jackets – they’re so versatile. :)

Pragtig – jy lyk so so mooi in daardie Freddy’s. Ek het ook ‘n stel, maar myne is swart en ek is mal oor hulle. Sal definitief nooit weer ‘n ander paar jeans koop nie.

    XO, Talitha

Oh ja, jy moet asseblief weer ‘n ‘fashion post’ doen.
