OPI Couture De Minnie Mini Collection

First let me start by saying this collection is currently available for purchase in South Africa.  The whole Couture De Minnie collection is available from Twincare International (based in Sunninghill, Johannesburg) and  I’m sure you’ll find the collection at a salon that stocks OPI nail polishes too.

I have always been a fan of Minnie Mouse – so when I saw this collection released in the US, I knew I had to get the mini collection.  The collection was created in honour of Disney’s beloved character and explores the fashion forward side of Minnie Mouse, mixing pinks with fuschia and red.  She definitely knows her stuff, because I would never have dreamed these colours would look so good together!  The whole collection features 1 Liquid Sand, 3 crème polishes, plus 1 red & white polka dot glitter shade.

The mini collection contains the Liquid Sand and the 3 cream polishes.  I was so intrigued by the red & white polka dot glitter polish but after doing some research, I decided not to get it.  The reviews were quite negative saying the polish is a bit too goopy and thick.

A Definite Moust-Have

This is a pretty rosy pink shade (it almost changes colour from being a more red-toned pink in the shade, to being a creamy lighter pink in the sun) and contains a pearlescent shimmer.  I love that this little polish is creamy and very opaque, so you can get away with only applying 1 coat.  The shimmer in this little polish looks beautiful in direct sunlight, I am in love with this shade.

Magazine Cover Mouse

This is the Liquid Sand polish, I don’t own a red Liquid Sand polish so was pretty excited about this one.  As mentioned in previous blog posts, OPI’s Liquid Sand polishes are textured in that once they have dried, they look and feel like sand paper on the nails.  What I love about the Liquid Sand polishes is that you can leave them without a top coat for the textured look, or you can apply a top coat and the same polish will look completely different.  This one is a gorgeous deep red shade with specks of pink and gold glitter running through it.  This beauty is also very opaque but I find with most of the Liquid Sand polishes, it’s always best to apply 2 coats.  I am currently wearing this polish on my nails and I absolutely adore it!  Check on the left-hand side, it’s one of my recent photos on Instagram.

Chic From Ears To Tail

If you’re looking for a true bubblegum pink shade, this one’s for you!  It contains the slightest amount of shimmer, like a pretty silver shimmer.  I had to apply 3 coats because it is so streaky, but on the other hand it is quite opaque too.  The shimmer is most noticeable in direct sunlight and although I love the shade, the fact that it is so difficult to work with, puts me off a little bit.

Innie Minnie Mightie Bow

One coat, girls!  The swatch you see below is only 1 coat!  I think it’s pretty awesome, since not a lot of polishes these days are so opaque that you can get away with 1 thin coat.  This is a neutral red shade with a gorgeous shimmer.  This one is my favourite in terms of formula because it’s just to opaque and creamy (super easy to apply).

The swatches are in order as pictured above.

I just love the names of the polishes, too cute!  I’m currently wearing the ‘A Definite Moust Have’ shade on my toenails and someone actually asked me yesterday what I was wearing.  When I mentioned the name of the polish, they started laughing and I was like:  “No, really…  That’s the name.”

    Love love love!!!
Saw you post some on Instagram the other day, love them all!! I definetly need to find this collection.
One weird question, where do you find your ‘nail thingies’ for your swatches – it’s such a great idea!!

      Thank you, Jane! 🙂

Not a weird question 🙂 I buy them on eBay, you get like 10 or 20 in a bag and they’re super cheap! Just search on eBay for ‘False Nail Wheel’ – you can buy a pack of 10 for about R35,00.

I just died a little. I so badly want this. I am in love with the polka dot glitter and I also read some ominous reviews but I love it so much I might just get it anyway.

Beautiful swatches and the colours are gorgeous! I have two of the vintage minnie mouse collection and they are also gorgeous!

    Loved this post.

To be honest, the red & white glitter polish has been on my mind ever since I got this mini collection (even though I’ve read the bad reviews).

I also might just get it because it’s so unique. I just checked and you can get it for just over R 100 on eBay. If you want, if I order mine I’ll order one for you too & send it to you once it has arrived in SA?

I own the whole collection – I am that OB-sessed with Minnie Mouse! The glitter polish you mentioned is quite thick but it’s so special, it makes it worth it for me…

I love your swatches, Luzanne! x

Haha! I agree, all these shades are perfect in my opinion (even the ones that are a bit difficult to work with).

I think I’m definitely getting the glitter one! 🙂

I really love A Definite Moust Have!
Also I always loved the pastel pink one but a lot of people said it was problematic so that scrapped my love away and was happy that Tip Top’s Melting Marshmallow is still my number 1 pastel pink!

It’s VERY similar to Tip Top’s Melting Marshmallow, the Minnie one just contains some shimmer.

      Thanks for commenting, Siobhan! 🙂
