NEW Dove Nutritive Solutions & Hair Care Tips + GIVEAWAY

Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair

Ask a woman about her hair and she just might tell you the story of her life.

There’s a reason why some women say their hair is their crowning glory.  Rapunzel, Goldilocks, and the Disney Princesses – they always have the most glorious locks and shining tresses.  Throughout history, and in fairy tales & legends, a woman’s hair has been seen as a manifestation of her femininity and desirability.  This might not be true for ALL women, but I’m pretty sure it’s relevant to most women – myself included.

I see my hair as a reflection of my identity (well, part of my identity) because it is both personal and public. I often feel like a bad hair day equals a ‘bad everything day’.  I could be having a really REALLY good makeup day, but if my hair looks too flat, too frizzy, too dry, or too lacklustre…well, then we have a problem.

I think, with age, I’ve become a lot more confident when it comes to my tresses.  When I was younger (high school, university and throughout my twenties) I lived for changing up my hair colour and / or hairstyle.  My hair has been every colour of the rainbow (except green & grey) and in terms of style, it has been everything from super short (think Halle Berry’s pixie cut) to super long.  When I first started University, I went from brunette to blonde in one go.  Eeeeek!  I don’t even want to think about how damaged my hair was after that.  I adored the ash blonde, my stylist highlighted my whole head of hair every single time I visited the salon, and so there were always different tones and streaks of blonde.  But that also meant my hair was put through a large amount of bleach and damage every 6 to 8 weeks.  For the next 10 years I put my poor tresses through constant bleaching and heat styling, and it really started to take a toll.  By the end of 2013 my hair was extremely damaged and in 2014 I eventually decided enough was enough.  My hair was dry, brittle, thin, and there were split ends everywhere (not just at the ends of my hair).

So, in March 2014 I went from blonde back to brunette…and I LOVED it!  It looked so much more natural, I didn’t have to worry about root regrowth, the chocolate brown suited my skin tone, and best of all: I knew my hair was on the mend.  I think, at times, I’m really hard on myself when it comes to my hair – people sometimes compliment me on my hair, and often times my reply is: “Thank you, but I have no volume at my roots.”  “Thanks, but I think my ends are a bit too dry and damaged.”  The endless articles on celebrities’ new hairdo’s often make us feel insecure about our appearance.

I’m definitely not saying colouring your hair is a bad thing, I like to colour my hair every 8 weeks because my natural colour is a mousy brown shade.  It adds that something ‘extra’ and gives my confidence a little boost.  I’m also not saying changing the style of your hair is a bad thing, change is as good as a holiday…right?  What I am saying is: I want healthy, shiny hair.  Not only hair that LOOKS healthy, but hair that FEELS (and IS) healthy.

It takes time and effort to get to a point where you’re 100% happy with your hair.  Me?  I think I’m about 95% of the way there – if only I could have the natural body and volume that Samantha Schuerman has.  But even without the root volume I wish I had, I think I have a pretty good relationship with my hair – mainly because I enjoy taking care of it.

Dove Hair contacted me a couple of weeks ago to partner up with them for their new #DoveHairPerfectPair campaign.  They sent me one of their repackaged and reformulated Nutritive Solutions hair care ranges to trial and test, plus sponsored the prizes for a fun giveaway.  Below I’ll be sharing my first impressions of the Intensive Repair products, along with tips on how you can repair damaged hair.

Dove Hair South Africa recently ran an online survey on Women24 to gauge the kind of relationship women have with their hair and how their hair makes them feel.  The results showed that a woman’s relationship with her hair elicits various emotions.   80% percent of women surveyed felt that their hair affected their day to day mood.  Particularly, when asked to share one word that best describes how they feel about their hair, 30% of participants responded with “identity / personality”, 40% “challenging” and 30% “confidence”.

Dove has therefore relaunched their hair care range with the aim to offer women an affordable long term solution for their hair.  The new Dove Nutritive Solutions 2-way care system starts to repair the hair from day 1, leaving it looking shinier and feeling silkier.  It also uses Nutri-Keratin repair actives that progressively nourish and strengthen each strand from within, so that hair looks healthier and  stronger after each wash.

Dove Nutritive Solutions

The Dove Nutritive Solutions products provide both instant and long term results, so your hair gets better and better with every wash.  Here’s a bit more information on the 4 unique product collections within the new Dove Nutritive Solutions range:

♥  Daily Moisture – The special formula, with Pro-Moisture Complex, gently cleanses and protects normal hair from the daily wear and tear of life.  The range aims to make hair softer and 5 x smoother, allowing it to keep its natural balance without weighing it down.

♥  Colour Care – Designed to provide progressive nourishment to colour treated hair.  Complete with Vibrant Colour Lock technology and UV filters, the range is specially formulated with lower sulfates to gently cleanse and immediately protect your hair to keep colour vibrant for up to 10 weeks.

♥  Nourishing Oil Care  – Treats frizzy and unruly hair by nourishing each strand at the deepest level, smoothing up to 100% of roughness and eliminating frizz.  This leaves hair supremely soft and manageable, without being greasy or weighed down.

♥  Intensive Repair – Formulated to be the best solution in the Dove hair care collection for damaged hair.  It instantly repairs signs of damage while continuously nourishing, making hair healthier and stronger.  Nutri-Keratin repair actives immediately repairs the hair surface, while progressively nourishing the core of each strand.  Hair is reconstructed from within and is healthier with every wash.

Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Hair Care

Here are my first impressions (this isn’t a full review, as I’ve only used the hair care products twice so far):

Hair can break for a variety of different reasons – colouring, highlighting, poor diet and aging.  While it’s impossible to completely eliminate breakage, there are a few things that you can do to make your hair stronger and more elastic so that it is less likely to break.  Keratin are the building blocks for strong, healthy hair – it’s a fibrous protective protein that strengthens hair, making it more resilient and less likely to break.  Incorporating hair care products that are fortified with keratin help repair damage to the hair, while protecting it from future breakage as well.

90% of every hair strand consists of keratin, 5% is water, and the rest are lipids, pigments and minerals. Intact (healthy) keratin is elastic and insoluble in water, so it can’t be rinsed or washed away.  It’s also able to tolerate extreme temperatures, that means hair is built to withstand hot rays of the sun, the bitter Winter chilly weather, as well as the heat from styling tools like curling irons, flat irons etc.

Ongoing exposure to environmental stressors can do some serious damage to the long strings of keratin, and once keratin is broken down into small enough strings, it becomes water soluble and will be washed away each time you wash your hair.  Keratin-containing hair care products provide hair with optimal protection against moisture loss, and fills gaps & breaks in the hair shaft to make hair more supple and manageable.

I found this Dove Intensive Repair duo (shampoo and conditioner) left my hair feeling smooth right out of the shower.  My hair feels silky, but not too slippery, and is easy to comb through while it’s wet.  I’ve noticed my hair is more manageable (no knots & tangles) and easier to style, which means I can cut down on styling products and hot hair tools.  I just wish the shampoo didn’t contain SLS (Sodium Laurel Sulphate)  – hopefully Dove Hair will look into creating hair care products that are free of sulfates and parabens soon.

I really, REALLY like the scent of the Intensive Repair range.  It’s not like the other Dove hair care ranges I’ve used, it smells fresher and more youthful.  The Intensive Repair Daily Treatment Conditioner is a product that really stands out to me – it’s not the regular conditioner in the range, it a deep conditioning treatment that is lightweight enough to use on an everyday basis.  It leaves my hair feeling silky soft, with a lingering fragrance that lasts for quite some time.

Dove Intensive Repair

Here are my top 5 tips for growing healthier, stronger and more vibrant hair:

♥  Make sure your diet includes enough protein and healthy fats & oils – you can get protein from meat, eggs, dairy, nuts, seeds, beans and peas.  Protein is known to have an impact on hair strength, shine and thickness.  Vitamin C is a building block for keratin, so citrus fruits, peppers and brussels sprouts can increase the development of keratin.

♥  Sleep on a satin pillow, and if you have long hair try to braid it before you hop in to bed.  Snoozing on a satin pillow case is gentle on the hair, and will prevent knots, damage and even hair loss.  I recently started using this one from Every Second Counts.

♥  Try to cut back on blow drying, curling, and straightening your hair.  Heat styling can really damage your hair, so I try to air dry my hair most days and will only use a heat tool once my hair is completely dry.  I hardly even blow dry AND curl / straighten my hair in one go, unless I’m really pressed for time.

♥  Use a special brush like the CALA Wet n Dry Detangling Hair Brush or Tangle Teezer when brushing wet hair.  These are less likely to snag and pull your hair, and remember to be gentle.

♥  Always use hair care products that will target your specific hair problems.  If you have dry / damaged hair, use a shampoo and conditioner that contains liquid keratin.  Keratin keeps hair strong, elastic and healthy.

I love my hair cause it’s naturally curly but then at times I also hate it cause as soon as it gets moisture, my pretty hair is gone.

If there is anything I could change about myself it would certainly be my hair. I hate it! I have highlited hair, my natural colour is Dark brown but I prefer blonde hair. The condition is not the best because of the peroxide. I hate that my hair is broken in certain places especially by my forehead, i have a fringe which I never cut – lol! There is the odd day where I feel happy about my looks and that is when my hair falls into place by itself and actually looks good. Very rarely I might add, would love the condition to be better.

I have a love / hate relationship with my hair, i am naturally dark, but decided i need a change, so i had blonde streaks put in. My hair seems more dryer now (go figure) & also a little bit frizzy. I am yet to find a shampoo / conditioner that will leave my hair smooth & sleek. Help is needed & would be much appreciated! X

My hair is dull and lack lustre. It has no body and just looks drab at the moment!

    15 March 2016 / 10:27

I must be honest….since having Adam I haven’t had good hair days. After I had my 2 boys, I went insanely bald across the front of my hairline. It was horrific. There’s no way to cover it up… I’d do comb overs, but mostly I just hid away in the house. For months. The hair is now about 2 to 3cms long, spiky situation…so I have a bun every single day with the front gelled down as flat as possible. Still a while to go before I have good hair days again 🙁

Would love to win this. My hair is in such a bad state as I just wash and put it in a bun. Sometimes no conditioner, sometimes I don’t comb it out, I just don’t see the point. It’s such a bad experience and sadly I’ve been through this twice….*le sigh* Funny this didn’t happen after my daughter, only my boys.

Awesome giveaway Luzanne! I wish you could upload pics of all these crazy hair styles you were rocking back in the day 😉

what i dislike about my hair that i got to frequently dye my hair as it is going so grey so fast, leaving my hair in a bad condition, not healthy and lack of shine so hair is damaged and dull.

Although it’s long and more on the healthy side, I have very fine hair, so I’m all about having that extra bit of volume and getting my hair to look thicker. When my hair is flat and not looking it’s best, I don’t feel confident at all.

  9. Michell Klopper
    15 March 2016 / 10:31

At the moment, i hate my hair…..i have been using a coconut shampoo, and it is suppose to drench my hair in nutrients and leave it looking and feeling silky smooth and good looking… but now it’s dry and gets tangled very easily, and it gets oily very fast a day after washing, so i then have to wash again or it will look like i never wash hair……i stopped using it…and now i can’t seem to get back my beautiful full of life hair that i once had…..i want to test this awesome hamper….who knows…maybe its the miracle i have been waiting for!!!!!!! 🙂

I love my hair because it is naturally straight so I don’t have to fuss with it too much. That suits the lazy in me just fine!
I had quite a bit of hair fall after my pregnancy from breastfeeding & anaesthetic from cesarean, but it’s thickening up again slowly…

I dislike my hair because it is fine, thin, limp, it does not hold a style, if I curl it, the curls last only 2 minutes, plus I have to wash my hair daily

    Amazing giveaway,

I’ve been seeing dove products all around and have been looking forward to try them. I went for the big chop recently so now I have 4c Natural Hair and I love it. However I still have a lot to learn about my natural hair considering I went through 16 years of my life with it relaxed. I am looking for products that will help take care of and grow my natural African hair.

I cut my hair because, like you Luzanne a bad hair day meant “bad everything day”, lol. I hated that I didn’t think my natural hair was pretty and I disliked that thats how I felt so I decided to embrace my hair and its 4c ‘ ness !!!

I hope the dove care range works on Natural Hair too.

I have a LOVE-HATE relationship with my hair. As in I love it for about 24 hours after being to the hairdresser and hate it until I go again! It’s very fine and flat and I want it thick and full of natural “body”. I want it a brilliant shade of red but my hair wants to be blondish-grey. If I colour it red it starts to fade immediately and I have ugly (flat) regrowth after just 3 weeks. So I have to colour again, running up thousands in salon costs. So, i have to settle for something more “practical”. Which looks ok-ish but is utterly frustrating for a wannabe-cameleon like me…
    Like I said: it’s a LOVE-HATE!!!

  22. 15 March 2016 / 11:00

I have the oiliest hair ever! I wash it today & tomorrow morning like clock work – its oily again!
And yes…I do rock the frizzy ends as well….
What I love about my hair? The fact that my hair is all – natural! I have a beautiful colour ***

    15 March 2016 / 11:01

My hair story…..shew where do I start. I have super long dry damaged hair. It’s not too think but it’s not thick either. Wish I could chop it off but I can’t ( dad is totally old school-Indian girls must have long hair bla bla bla)
I don’t mind the length just wish it was healthy. Unfortunately can’t afford all the fancy treatments to try it out. Either buy conditioner or treatment not both 🙁

Maybe this win can give me the pick me up I need

I use to have this really thick long hair, everyone always wanted to touch it, because it was so soft, and then a few years ago I got really sick and it was months before the doctors could figure out what was wrong with me. Those months my hair started to fall out and I lost almost half of my hair. When I left hospital I had to had it cut short because so much of it was gone. It was a really sad time, now my hair is medium length but I never got my beautiful thick hair back. It is now thin, limp and frizzy. No matter what I do it just doesn’t look good any more to me.

Truth be told, I’m rather proud of my hair. It’s taken a hell of a lot of patience, a lot of experimentation, and a fair bit of self restraint to get where it is today. I’ve become obsessed with growing my hair…my new goal is to grow it long to have beautiful long locks to do those AMAZING hair tutorials we see on Pinterest and Youtube.

Great Post! as Always! Well I’ve had naturally curly hair and during my early years tried all the straightening products known to man so I could look like everybody else when everybody wished for my curly hair lol. Only in my recent years have I decided to go natural and I’m loving my hair! I love my bouncy curls! And I have the option of changing my entire look just by straightening once a while 🙂 The only problem I have is the frizz sometimes as curly hair craves moisture. But I’m working with it and always on the look out for new products. Maybe the new Dove range will help! Thanks!

My hair mmmmhhh, is like a worn out, dried out upside down mop! Its so dry that I take a white tooth comb to the shower and it takes me about 10 mins to get through the knots. I have to add on conditioner about 4 times to finally get my fingers loosely through. Then the blow drying session is another episode. I am left with red cheeks and hot and sweaty again and in desperate need of another shower. Then I have to move on to the straightening iron to have the look of decency and looking normal and sleek. Naturally drying my hair is really not ideal as I am left with extra volume and incredible frizzy hair. My fiancé and dad actually mentioned that it made me look “wild” hahaha. After entering 30, I noticed that my hair is dryer and more course but not matter what vitamins I take for good hair, skin or nails, nothing seems to help. I have to trim off split ends more often lately. I would so love to win this hamper and to give it a try especially before the cold winter season dawns on us. My hair really needs this intensive repair treatment and mask to soothe and tame and repair all my damaged bits and to revitalise my roots.

My hair!!!!! It used to be thick and lustrous but years of highlighting has taken its toll. I tie it up most of the time cos in my opinion it only looks nice when just washed and blow dried. It has become much thinner from menopause and medication and even gets frizzy now Wahahaha weird! I suppose the pool water does not help either as we swim about 5 times a week. Would love to get some help from Dove. By the way I only use Dove soap 🙂

I like that my hair is so versatile and soft and even though it is styled often, it still is healthy.

  30. 15 March 2016 / 11:40

I use to LOVE Dove hair products!! I am the same as you and i’m about 95% happy with my hair these days! I use to hate how thin and flat it was but now since I have switched up my diet and started to only wash my hair twice a week and sleep in coconut oil my hair has come on leaps and bounds and have gotten so much thicker! I always thought it wasn’t long enough but I think the thickness was the problem! x

I hate my hair, its dry, brittle, coarse, thinning and a nightmare to style. I spend 30 minutes ironing it only to go outside and have a curly frizzy mess that gets tied up. I am utterly fed up and often feel like going bald!

  32. 15 March 2016 / 11:46

What a great day to read this post, I am having SUCH a bad hair day today and I feel so self-conscious about it. Had a meeting with a lot of the bosses this morning so I hid in the corner :/

Ever since moving to Durban I have been really battling with frizz. I am also obsessed with trying to get more volume in my hair.

Have a great day my Lu

I have naturally curly hair that’s extremely prone to frizzing (mincing lol) I permanently have to fight and straighten my poor locks just so that i feel human and not like Alex the lion from madagascar lol I wish i could find a product that would allow me to wear my hair in it’s natural form without leaving it dry, damaged and so tangled.

  35. 15 March 2016 / 11:55

Well I love my hair I have really fine hair but its a lot I really try and keep it as healthy as possible so I am believer in hair masques and serums. So last year I decided to grow my hair out and donate 20cm to CANSA so I tried my best not to damage it with any hair dyes, I felt why cut my hair in stages just grow it out and in December 2015 I donated a 20 cm long ponytail and I would definitely do it again. It was for a great cause and to me I can always grow my hair back because there is someone out there in need of help.

But I wont lie I did love having some caramel blonde highlights in there to brighten my dark hair up, but when I donated it was totally natural no hair dyes.

So fingerscrossed would love to win the Dove hamper I am a big fan of their haircare products 🙂

It took me a loooooong time to love my natural hair. I have very curly, thick long hair, and to be honest I wanted for the longest time for my hair to be straight. That’s until 2 years ago, that I’ve started to appreciate my natural, beautiful curls. So lemme get started on my hair horror story. I’ve always been a lover of long hair, so when I had a mini hair cut( cut my hair to just a bit longer than shoulder lenght), I quickly got bored of it and wanted my long hair back.
I had heard amazing stories from people and on the internet about how horse shampoo can help stimulate hair growth, so guess what, I tried! It did help with letting my hair grow, but at a terrible cost. My hair got extremely dry, it looked dull and it was damaged completely. There were times when I cried over how my hair turned out, because my hair is everything to me. I believe that my whole outfit and make-up can be on fleek, but if my hair is bad, then I look bad.

Fortunately today my hair is so much better its not fully repaired yet, but I’m getting there. I’ve been using a lot of moisturizing products to help repair my hair. I’ve also been rocking my natural curls, and avoiding too much heat. I’ve also recently dyed my hair red, and I’m looking sooo hot! I am my hair.

I would love to win this awesome hamper, to give my hair a well deserved pamper session. 🙂

I am pregnant with my third child, and let me tell you since falling pregnant with my first, my hair have never been the same. It is brittle, looks damanged and can’t seem to get back the state it was prior to the pregnancies. I can’t afford salon products, and this Dove range would be perfect as it will be realistic for me to continue with the products since it is much less expensive as Salon products. I really love Dove products but this really really call my name!

  39. 15 March 2016 / 12:54

I have hypothyroidism nd my hair has been badly affected. It is still falling out and it is even more dry and straw-like than ever so I am really hoping I win a hamper to try out.

My hair used to be very thick but since I’ve been in my in thirties I have suffered from severe hair fall. I am always trying new products to minimize the hair fall and I’m on a mission to treat my hair the best I can – no chemical processes and heat, lots of masks and oils. I still like my hair even though it’s not as thick as it used to be – it’s long and very straight. I’m very boring with my hair and almost always wear it up. I would love to try the Dove products to blow new life into my hair 🙂

When you said you have been all colors under the sun it made me think of myself 😀 hehe I love experimenting with my hair, but I have finally chosen blonde as ME 🙂 But I still do love to play around with my different blondes. But blonde=dry hair. I have also recently chopped all my hair off…OOPS… hehe so growing my hair is on the agenda!! I am all about looking and feeling healthy, and hair is definitely important. I wash my hair everyday as I am an active person doing physical training daily, so products that nourish my hair is a MUST… But enough about my hair :D… Your hair is so beautiful, I love the curled look on you 🙂 And if you say this product is great I will try it (thumbs up)

I have very thick hair . I often do struggle to keep it silky smooth , it tends to get knots and with using heating tools on a daily basis it can get out of hand, Eeek ! Would love to give the new Dove intensive repair range a try !

I have super long, super thick hair… but what I love (and occasionally hate) about it is that it never looks the same two days on a row 🙂 My hair has a life of its own, and i love that it curls/waves differently depending on the mood 🙂

I coloured my hair in December and my ends were peroxided. The way my hair felt from that day onwards was just instant regret.. I cut my hair very short at the end of Matric and over styled it in my first year so I was struggling with split-ends and then I decided to dye my hair in second year which just damaged my hair even more (not the smartest move).

For the past three years I’ve been easing up on the heat styling, oiling my hair more and trying to trim my hair every few months. And I actually had quite healthy hair last year (barring the fact that I have crazy amounts of hair fall due to stress).

So because I felt like it was time for change I decide to dye my hair and the hairdresser does something I completely didn’t ask for.. After I got over it, I decided that I’m just going to get my hair back on the right track and I got back to my oiling and I wanted to get the Dove Leave In Treatment. It was sadly sold out at Dischem so I got the L’oreal Damage Rescue Treatment instead.

I am on track to happy hair again, even though my hair feels too try if I forget to put Argan Oil in my ends.. Anyway enough of my long story, I love the fact that my hair is naturally curly. It makes it so easy for me to let it air dry and it’s still wearable.

Even though it’s hard to admit, if my hair isn’t the way I want it to be I’m not as confident. Even when my hair is looking dry or has split-ends, it makes me feel like others can clearly see it.. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves! P.S. thanks for always having amazing giveaways 🙂 🙂

I was born with fizzy , curly hair . In my attempts to make my hair straight and manageable , I have ironed , chemically straighten , used the hairdryer as well as the electrical straightener . My hair is left dry and damaged and began to fall.

I do love my hair as I do with every part of my body, however I have very oily hair and that can be difficult to manage as I need to wash it all the time, so I am usually that female with washed hair all the time!

  53. 15 March 2016 / 18:16

I agree with you hair and eyebrows two most important aspects of my look. I love my hair Bcos it can hold pretty much any style. Sleek straight hair or fun curls. I don’t like that it gets oily a bit quick and seems to be falling everywhere recently.

The problem with my hair, my roots get oily very fast. So the roots gets oily and the hair is still fine.

Stil looking for shampoo/conditioner that will prevent the oilyness and nourish the longer hair.

I absolutely love playing with the colour of my hair! At this moment they are a dark cherry colour and I have really fallen in love with the colour! I have always had blue black hair, but I feel like this is a good chance for me!
The things I don’t like about my hair is the excessive frizz, I don’t mind the curls at all, just wish the frizz would settle a bit.
Other than that I love my hair…..on a good hair day, coz just like for you, a bad hair day really messes up your day!
    Great post lovely!

I wish my hair were a little bit more resistant to frizz 🙂 but I’m pretty happy with it.
I keep it in a short bob so I never really have damaged hair because I cut it often so that’s a good thing as well.
    But frizz.
    Hate the frizz.

I really hate my hair at the moment. It’s just so weak ,lifeless, oily and it’s been dropping so much. I wish I could have beautiful healthy shiny hair. Planning my wedding but my hair really depresses me, I wish I could have beautiful hair my after all a women’s beauty is in her hair.

What i dislike about my hair is that is it’s very weak, breakage happens easily, also i have a very dry scalp. And it’s gets oily quickly after a wash

  63. Remona Engelbrecht
    16 March 2016 / 07:49

I love the colour of my hair, which is a natural copper brownish red. I used to have dead straight fine limp hair. But after the birth of my 2 sons my hair became more wavy after each pregnancy. I like the wave it gives it a bit of volume but it can be prone to frizz and I struggle with dry hair. My hair is definitely part of my personality.

  64. 16 March 2016 / 08:09

I have thin, fine, limp hair that’s curly as well. I love it sometimes, when it’s quick to just wash, dry, style. Them there are times I hate it, oily roots, so thin and fine I can see my scalp, won’t hold a curl! Even my stylist struggles and I’m not a hard hairspray curls girl. But on the styling front it grows so quick so I can cut it a few times a year and have long hair a few months later. And I love to colour my hair, reds and browns really suit my skin tone. I’m obsessed with the dove pure care dry oil which has really helped with making my hair soft, smells great and soft and shiny. Dove all the way xxx

  66. Annette Hamann
    16 March 2016 / 09:11

What I like about my hair now is that it’s quick to style because I cut it short because I’m a runner. What I don’t like is that I had to cut it short because it use to dry out so badly from all the washing. So I would love to have long hair that won’t dry out but I have to use a straighter everyday because I have frizzy hair. And the frizziness I absolutely hate

Hi my name is Charlene and this is my hair story!
I love my hair. I have thick coarse hair that’s not silky soft but feels dry and damaged. But that’s ok!
I have volume for days and enough hair for two people. It holds its style nicely without needing lots of products.

I recently discovered the Dove Nourishing Oil range that leaves my hair soft to the touch. I wouldn’t mind this hamper but regardless I will still purchase this product when it hits the shelves.

    And that’s me!!

So, since I was little, everyone always swooned over my silky soft pin straight hair, suffice it to say it was my pride and joy. That is until one fateful day in high school. A friend of mine was fooling around with superglue…naturally this story does not end well. He stuck a girl to her chair, glued another girls bag to her back and “accidentally” dropped some SUPERGLUE in my hair. I cried so much and looking back I want to cry some more. It took me more than 3 hours in the bath trying to get it out until i just gave up and cut it off and yet it hit my scalp too. Since then my hair has never been the same. The spot where the glue landed never grew back to normal so there’s a little bald patch there now that I cover up with some tactful styling, thankfully it isn’t huge and my hairs texture has never been the same since. It’s sort of rough and grainy, although, I don’t think grainy is the right word. It just feels all weird and dry and sad. And yes, we are still friends =/

I haven’t coloured my hair in a year !!After colour g my hair for 16 years straight this is quite the milestone. I quite enjoyed allowing my highlights to grow out naturally as it gradually turned into the trendy ombre. I am yet to find a decent haircare line for my non coloured almost natural hair and desperately need that extra smoothness and shine that non coloured hair lacks. This would be amazing to try

    My Hair Story

I love my hair, it takes work but I love it when I take the time to wash, blow and flat iron my hair, it can be a mission at times but its always worth it in the end. Love the straighten flat iron look and how beautiful it makes me look and my husband will agree. I dislike the fact that my hair is weak and tends to break off and fall out . I also hate that my hair frizzes very quickly but have invested in Oil Elixir to combat my frizzy hair. So yes we gotta work with what we have…

Weet jy Luzanne dis so waar wat jy sê rakende vra n vrou oor haar hare en dan hoor jy n storie. My verhouding met my hare is amper soos n love and hate verhouding op hierdie oomblik!

I need this hamper in my life… My hair is so damaged from heat styling and colouring that it just stops growing once it reaches my shoulders. I have now decided no more chemicals and minimal heat styling l, I’m sure that these amazing dove products will bring my hair to health so much quicker!

  87. 18 March 2016 / 09:33

Ahhh, Where do I begin, I love my hair for being naturally curly, big and voluminous, yet I dislike it for being unruly and dry. Having curly hair means- adding moisture, moisture, moisture! I’m always looking for products to protect, repair and add shine, but not weigh down or ruin my curls. I love that I can switch between wearing my hair big and curly and easily transform it to being straight or wavy. My hair is unpredictable, but I wont let it stand in my way of trying new products, How will we ever know if something suits our hair, if we dont try, right? My hair is definitely a reflection of my personality, We are experimental, We change our minds frequently, We have depth and Character. I love Dove products and would really love to win this hamper. Thank You Luzanne! xx

My hair is long frizzy with dry ends, I never have time to give myself a treat, so in a bun it is ALWAYS. Most people have no idea how long my hair actually is. I only use Dove products (spray, soap etc) #HeartDove

I have always had dry, coarse hair that is prone to frizzing ☹ I have so much split ends although I trim it regularly and because of it breaking a lot, my hair does not grow past my shoulders. I use a lot of heat styling tools and chemicals unfortunately I can’t go natural without looking like a Pom Pom I change my look a lot because of my persona, so I bleach, dye,cut and shaved my hair at one stage. I find it hard to find the right product that suites my hair.

I am currently giving my hair a break from all chemical products…I have 4c hair type (african coily hair type). I have previously had dreadlocks, chemically relaxed my and used permanent hair dyes…note that chemicals are the worst enemy of african hair. The hair looses it natural moisture and it becomes brittle and breaks. What I love about my hair now is that it requires less maintenance unlike weaves and hair extensions! I NEED this hamper to restore my hair moisture and nourish it!!!

My hair is extremely frizzy, no matter what steps I take to tame it, I guess living next to the coast doesn’t really help much! I’ve also noticed that my hair is thinning at the roots, thats why I decided to do highlights, that gives me a lot more body at the roots but now my hair is dry 🙁

I have a ‘hopefull outlook ‘ on my hair if you can call it that 🙂 I used to have very strong ,healthy, long blonde locks and about 2 years ago i was a hair model for a hair show where this Korean hairdresser came to south Africa to show the techniques and stuff they use on hair in Korea… that night the hair model didn’t show up and they asked me if i could stand in for her since i have the perfect hair length little did i know that he was going to do a straight blunt cut, like a bob only shorter… the length was to the middle of my ear , i cried so much, so now for 2 years ive been trying everything to grow my hair back to that length , ive been trying almost every product on the market to keep it strong and healthy so it can get back there, i must say im starting to love my hair again , its at a good length now 🙂

I have tried everything humanly possible to get my hair on the right track again, but nothing seems to work! I recently bought Salon quality hair products with the hope that it will help the process along, but is seems like a no-go. The worst part is that it is expensive, especially now that it doesn’t work. I used to have wavy healthy hair, but now it is just unmanageable and it ends up in a ponytail almost everyday, it is like a bad hair day everyday! I will love to give #DOVE a try.

I have long hair which I have done an ombre to way over a year ago. I have been so tempted to dye my hair, but I have been stopping myself as I want to have my whole head my natural hair colour which I have not seen in years. I really want healthy looking hair, so I wash my hair 2-3 times a week and leave it to dry naturally as I do not want to use too much heat (which I recommend everyone to do). I also try to eat better (such a struggle) and “try” to drink a lot of water, and I honestly do believe it has made a difference. It also comes down to what products you use on hair, and I would love to win the dove hamper to help on my journey to healthy hair.

I love my hair! It hangs down to my butt and has a natural curl to it that I do embrace, although I do really like to have sleek and shiny, pinstrait hair too. I love the way it glistens in the sun, but what I hate is that, when I leave my hair curly, it can get really frizzy, dry and knotted. Thats why I have to put in some extra effort to keep it moisturised, shiny and healthy. I hope I win this hair care hamper to treat my long, luscious locks! 🙂

I love my hair and it is finally the length I have always wanted it but being blonde and having long thin hair makes my hair very stressed out and fragile. I have tried the Dove Nutritive Solutions range and I could immediately feel my hair being moisturised and cared for ♡

Im happy with my hair – kind of have the best of both worlds because I can rock a curly afro if I want or after an hour of blowdrying and using my ghd I have sleek hair. While its prone to slight dryness and some frizz because- DURBAN! It pretty manageable with some treatments. It would be awesome to win- the weather is changing and I need to up my game to have soft, shiny locks this winter.

Natural. I don’t like the fact that I have thin and damaged hair. I have a lot of hair but thin and at the moment I am protecting it like gold. About one and a half years ago I went for colour. I wanted an ombre. They were exited and started working. I trusted them because it was one of the top 10 hair salons in Gauteng for 2014. It was horrible. My beautiful long hair has been chopped off with lots of layers. I looked like I had a mallet. And the colour was reddish with dip dye that made it look orange. I got a massive bill and cried my eyes out my soft locks of ombre was now a monstrous mess. I cried so much I felt so ugly. I changed my hair colour back to normal and for a year my hair was pinned up with the illusion of braids to hide my ugly hairstyle. This year it is finally long enough to let it down. My hair is still in the process of recovery . It still gets knotted from the bleached dip dye and it still needs to catch up on the length to get back to where it was. I need this so badly.

I love the texture of my hair, it’s naturally straight and silky, but I do lack volume because I have fine hair. My hair also tend to get very oily but I’ve started to embrace it because the natural oils are good for your scalp.
A bad hair day can put a demper on my mood but I’ve learnt ways to manage it. My go to style when I have a bad hair day is a sleek centered part ponytail.

My hair is extremely thick, long, dry and damaged. Such a combination right? I battle with my hair. And in the end I just give up and tie it on a big bun in the top of my head. Please help!

Hi Luzanne. I have always had healthy hair. For the last year its just become dry and lifeless. I suspect its due to home colours that i experimented with 🙁
I Have tried every mask and oil to restore it back to normal but I have yet to see the results I want

I love my long thick hair and it definitely suits my personality…love to put it up in a messy bun for Varsity but long hair allows me to experiment with different fun styles. The only thing that gets me a bit down with long hair is when I go surfing because even when I tie it up, I always end up losing the scrunchie in the surf. My hair takes a lot of maintenance, especially as it gets really dry from being in the sea a lot. Would love to win this amazing Dove hamper to pamper my glorious long locks.

My hair is very fine and limp. When I try to curl or blow wave my hair it never holds its style. I have even tried the manual or electrical curlers. Please help. @lizaan_jacobs

At this stage I really don’t love my hair, for some reason after my son was born my hair started falling (Shedding) he is now a year old and I’m still experiencing this problem, and it’s become very dry and untamed

I dont like the that my hair is so dry, I highlight it to keep my blonde hair from going yellow. The bleach takes all the oil out my hair and I battle to brush it when its wet. Its an absolute nightmare!

    Awesome giveaway✔
    I simply love it♡♡♡

My hair is half way down my back and I’m still growing it. I love the length. My hair isn’t thick as I would love it to be or shiny either. After pregnancy my hair fell a lot and its split end prone. Winter is the pits as my hair frizzs and is so uncontrollable. I have never coloured my hair though I think its time because @ 35 years my grey hairs are showing. So my hair is generally in a bad state but I don’t want to chop it all off. O my goodie I do believe this prize is the answer to my nightmare hair. ♥

    Hope to win☀
