MAC Collection – Archie’s Girls

Hello everyone,

Today I am doing a review on 2 items I purchased from the MAC Archie’s Girls collection.

Who remembers the Archie & Friends comics?  I used to adore reading them, and might I add, I always secretly hoped that Archie would choose Betty as his girlfriend.

After reading the reviews Temptalia posted on the WHOLE Archie’s Girls collection (*swoon*), I decided to purchase the Pearlmatte Face Powder in ‘Flatter Me’ (this is from Betty’s collection), as well as a Lipglass in ‘Kiss & Don’t Tell’ (also Betty’s collection).  The MAC collections usually arrive in South Africa about a month after it has been released in the US.  From looking at the various items in the collection, it was quite obvious that Veronica’s items were more cool-toned and Betty’s were more warm-toned.

My complexion has a warm undertone and although I occasionally try the odd cool-toned product, I usually stick to what works best for my skin tone.

Pearlmatte Face Powder – Flatter Me

This beauty is described as “Pearlmatte Face Powder combining pearlized and satin shades to achieve an array of looks.  Hearts are adorably stamped onto the base”.

I couldn’t have said it better myself!  The texture of this is rich and creamy and it gives your cheeks a beautiful velvety smooth finish with a pop of coral.  Used on the top of the cheekbones it will give you a gorgeous glow.

As mentioned before this has a warm undertone and can be used as a blush, highlighter or eye shadow (bonus!).  Retail price = R 300.00 ($30.00) for 10g.

Lipglass – Kiss & Don’t Tell

Next up we have a gorgeous Lipglass (this is what MAC calls their lipglosses) in ‘Kiss & Don’t Tell’.

This little pretty is described as “High-gloss, glass-like finish tinted with pale peach, pink and coral as sweet as Betty herself”.  This is a very vibrant pinky-coral lip gloss with subtle warm undertones.  I found it to be very creamy and opaque, but with a light hand it can also be applied to look quite translucent.   The colour payoff is great!  I noticed that if applied too thick, it settles into my lip lines (some people were born with naturally plump and smooth lips.  Me?  Not so much…).  Retail price = R 160.00 ($16.50) for 5ml.

I think the collection is super cute and caters for most skin tones.  Other items in the collection include blushes, eye shadow quads, eyeliners, pigments, lipsticks and nail polishes.
