La Vie Est Belle – Happiness Is A Journey, Not A Destination

Lancome La Vie Est Belle

I’m back with the big reveal!  I can finally show you the new official TV ad for Lancôme La vie est belle featuring the ultimate girl-next-door beauty – Julia Roberts.

The 48-year-old actress positively glows in her latest La vie est belle campaign for Lancôme, for which she is an ambassador.  She’s definitely the belle behind the brand, and her smile is as inspiring as her fun, loving and bubbly personality.

Everything radiates beauty in the short film, and I adore the crystal and floral touches.  I’m sure most of you already know I’m all about sparkles, flowers and pink hues.  Julia Roberts looks absolutely breathtaking in that gorgeous white dress, natural makeup and loose curls.

Did you know? Julia Roberts has made People magazine’s ’50 Most Beautiful People in the World’ list 11 times.  Eleven times!

Take a look at the official short film featuring the heart of the French capital, Paris, below:

I really like the message behind the ad: “Happiness is a journey, not a destination.”

In my previous campaign blog post, I mentioned I have an exclusive interview Q&A with Julia Roberts that I would like to share with you.  Below she shares her thoughts on La vie est belle Intense, her favourite scents, plus her favourite Lancôme products.

La Vie Est Belle Julia Roberts

Q: It’s been three years since the launch of La vie est belle, and it has quickly become an iconic fragrance. How do you feel about its worldwide success?

A: Very proud. It seems silly, but if I smell someone wearing it, I’ll get super excited.  I was talking to someone this morning about how Lancôme let me be a part of developing the scent.  It wasn’t just, “Here’s the product, now go take a picture with it!” I was really involved.

Q: Did you have any idea that it would become nearly as successful as it has?

A: You never know for sure, and the more we got into it, the more I panicked before it came out. Sometimes fragrances flop.

Q: Can you describe the scent of La vie est belle Intense (reviewed here) in a few words?

A: It’s a very intense smell, yet it’s also airy and fresh.  Tuberose is the main note, which gives it a very classic feeling, but there’s also an exotic hint of hazelnut that adds an interesting twist.  It’s truly addictive.

Q: On what occasions would you wear this fragrance as opposed to the original one?

A: I’d wear Intense more as an evening scent and the original for day.

Q: Do you ever combine fragrances?

A: I do. I recently found a letter I wrote to my mom about being chased by one of those fragrance girls in a department store. I wrote a whole paragraph about this spritzer girl who was stalking me. Now I’m a professional spritzer girl. And layering fragrances is my specialty.

Q: What scents are you most attracted to?

A: I’m into woody ones.  I don’t like anything overly sweet.  Patchouli and earthy scents are my favourite. There’s some patchouli in La vie est belle. We tested so many versions.

Q: What message do you hope to relay to women about beauty through your role with Lancôme?

A: Not to take away from how great Lancôme products are, but for me, beauty is about your spirit. That’s what we try to convey in the La vie est belle campaigns: Be happy and live the life you want to live. That’s the key behind looking your best.

Q: What’s the one Lancôme product you can’t live without?

A: The Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover is unbeatable. A lot of times you take off your eye makeup at night, and the next morning you wake up and look like you already put makeup on!  But this formula gets rid of every stitch of makeup.  For more than 6 years, it’s the one product I’ve used every day.  I also love the Absolue L’Extrait.  It’s wonderful!
