Shew, the #FABFour have been testing 3 Kiehl’s skin care products for the past 4 weeks. It’s been an amazing 28-day journey testing the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate, the Dermatologist Solutions Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, and the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I think it’s safe to say we’re all impressed with the overall look and feel of our skin, plus there is still a lot of product left for the months ahead. I asked the ladies to send me their ‘after’ photos wearing absolutely no makeup, scroll down to see who took me up on the challenge. Let me start off my mentioning none of these photos have been photoshopped or edited (except for cropping to fit to size).
The final #FABFour updates for Week 4 are as follows:
Lee-Anne Geldenhuys (27) says:
“As you can see, my chronic dark circles and pending crow’s feet are unfortunately just a fact of life that I’ve become comfortable with.
Otherwise as a whole, my skin feels softer, plumper and dewier – a near impossible thing to achieve in winter! I’m really pleased. My complexion is much brighter and more even, to the point where if I need to dash out to run errands I’m comfortable to just throw on a bit of sunscreen and mascara and run out. My normal redness across my cheeks and around my nose definitely seem better – not gone, but definitely improved.
The fine lines around my eyes definitely appear to have lessened, which goes to show how dehydrated my skin was before! Pigmentation has seemed to have gotten darker, so I look forward to continuing with the products (and DEFINITELY getting a few more goodies from the Clearly Corrective range) and seeing if that keeps working. I just keep repeating that it must get worse to get better over and over!
** To explain what Lee-Anne means by this, I’ve copied a section from her previous update (Week 2): I’m not sure if it’s actually happening or if it’s just because I’m scrutinizing it every day with desperate hopes that it’s working, but it seems that my pigmentation marks have actually gotten a bit darker – having spoken to facialists and read up about this a bit before the challenge started, I assume this is a very good sign. That it gets darker as it gets closer to the surface or some such – basically that it gets worse before it gets better. So that’s super exciting! The Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution has definitely been the star of the show for me.
I’m really happy overall – on top of the products being really great and lovely to use, this has really forced me to focus a lot more on my skin and skincare routine. And as it turns out, it’s something I really love doing. So thanks, Kiehl’s! I got to learn quite a bit more about my skin in the last few weeks, and am a lot more aware of how I take care of it.”
Simone Cameron (34) says:
“So the 4 week challenge has come to an end!
I really loved using these products, but I think maybe I need more than 28 days to see a difference in terms of it clearing and reducing blemishes.
My skin definitely feels better as previously reported. It’s healthier, hydrated, smoother. I was hoping to see more of a difference with blemishes, but after scrutinizing my pictures I took over the 4 weeks, I unfortunately can’t see much of a visible difference, a slight one, but not too much.
After reading your tip about using the serum on your lips, I decided to try it as my lips were so dry and flaky, and after 1 – 2 days I felt and feel a huge difference! So thanks for the tip!
I will continue using the products and if I see a visible improvement, I will definitely report back! Due to the challenge and quality of the products though, I am keen to try some more of their products in future.”
Luzanne Ashby (32) says:
“See? Not a speck of primer, foundation, BB cream, CC cream, powder or concealer on my face (you can click on the photos to enlarge them). Is it just me or does my skin tone look more even? You can take a look at one of my ‘Get Ready With Me’ videos on my YouTube channel to see just how uneven my skin tone used to me, plus I usually have a lot of redness on my cheeks too. I think my skin looks fresh and youthful, what do you think? P.S. Please excuse my fluffy-bedhead-second-day-hair, it was early in the morning when I took this photo.
I had a hormonal breakout at the beginning of last week – two blemishes popped up out of nowhere and decided to stick around for a while. I am, however, VERY impressed by the overall speed of the blemish lifecycle (if one could call it that). They appeared and started to go down and fade within 4 days, which is a huge difference considering my breakouts usually last for well over a week.
I just checked how much product I still have left after 4 weeks of use – I applied the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate twice a day (2 pumps each time, applied to face and neck), the Dermatologist Solutions Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution twice a day as well (3 drops applied to face), and the Midnight Recovery Concentrate once a day at night (4 drops applied to face and neck). I am amazed! I still have about 80% of all 3 products left, it’s difficult to tell with the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate because the packaging isn’t clear, but it feels like there is still a lot of product left.
As mentioned before, I think the star of the three products is the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate for me because my skin feels smooth, hydrated, plump and soft to the touch. I can see myself using every last drop of this gel-textured serum, and will be purchasing a backup soon. I forgot to mention in my previous blog posts that I have been applying the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate to my lips at night before going to bed, and I have noticed a significant difference in the overall texture of my lips – dry, chapped Winter lips are a thing of the past!
I am also definitely still going to keep using my Midnight Recovery Concentrate each and every night, as it really hydrates and nourishes the skin. The flaky patches on my forehead have disappeared completely and I have this facial oil to thank for that.
I absolutely adore the scent of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate – Evening Primrose oil and Lavender essential oil ensure the senses are relaxed whilst applying this elixir to the face (plus it also induces sleep). Evening Primrose oil boosts blood circulation, which means it is great for treating tired & dull skin and Lavender essential oil is one of the most beneficial oils in the treatment of acne because it inhibits the bacteria that cause breakouts, regulates the over-excretion of sebum, and is also know to reduce acne scarring.
As for the Dermatologist Solutions Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, I still don’t think there is a noticeable difference in terms of the hyperpigmentation areas on my face but my complexion does look brighter and more radiant. I do, however, think it has faded my acne scars (from previous breakouts) a bit faster than normal. As mentioned above, I struggled with a few breakouts this past week and can say with certainty that the redness has faded significantly.
These Kiehl’s products have changed the way I look at skin care products, because I have seen such a noticeable difference in the tone and texture of my skin in such a short amount of time.
I always thought one would only really start seeing significant results after more than a month of using skin care products, but these Kiehl’s products have definitely changed that mindset.”
Cicilia Kaufmann (50) says:
“From last week to this week I have not seen any dramatic changes. I cleansed as normal, applied my toner, then used my Kiehl’s products and applied a day or evening moisturiser and an eye cream.
My skin definitely looks less dull and tired the rough texture I had on my face is gone and my face feels really smooth. It feels hydrated and looks plump.
I have also been sleeping very well and I was wondering if perhaps the lavender in the Midnight Recovery Concentrate could have helped with that.
I have attached my after photo this time with a little makeup #nofilter #nophotoshop #selfie seeing as I am a makeup artist and I was the only one of the #FABFour that initially submitted a makeup free face very brave of me.
Thanks to Luzanne from Pink Peonies and Kiehl’s for a wonderful experience and I am so happy that I still have so much of the product left to use for weeks to come.”
