Kiehl’s #ChangeYourSkin Challenge – Week 1 + GIVEAWAY

Kiehls Change Your Skin Challenge

It’s been a full 7 days since the #FABFour started testing the above 3 Kiehl’s skin care products as part of the #ChangeYourSkin challenge.  We have been following our normal everyday skin care routine (cleansers, toners / facial mists and eye creams) but have replaced our serums, moisturisers and facial oils with the Dermatologist Solutions Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution, Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturizing Serum Concentrate, and Midnight Recovery Concentrate morning and evening (with the exception of using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate only at night since it is a facial oil).  Make sure to read until the very end of the blog post, because there may or may not be a Kiehl’s hamper giveaway waiting for you…

Here are our updates for Week #1:

Lee-Anne Geldenhuys (27) says:

“My skin looks so (for lack of a better word) bright – I think I can thank the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution for that.  Clarifying is really the best term – to the point where I now want to go out and buy the toner and the dark circle perfector from the same range.  I haven’t noticed major changes to the pigmentation as yet, but my skin tone as a whole looks great.

With the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate, I’m really focusing on massaging it in around my eyes and forehead – all the places that those little dehydrated fine lines are making appearances – as well as in areas over my cheeks and around my nose where I tend to get dry patches.  So far the dry patches have definitely gotten a bit less.

As for Midnight Recovery Concentrate – I love it because it’s one of the few products where you can see almost instant results.  I’m so fine with people seeing me first thing in the morning after sleeping with that on!  My skin looks all plump and dewy.  It’s basically magic.”

Simone Cameron (34) says:

“I truly love these products. The Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturizing Serum Concentrate and the Dermatologist Solutions Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution have no scent and they don’t leave any stickiness or any sort of residue on my face, which I love.  I don’t like to feel my face is heavy or oily from a product.  The Midnight Recovery Concentrate facial oil has a lovely scent from all the different oils it contains, which is very soothing and relaxing as you get ready for bed.  I do battle with horrible hayfever, but this doesn’t seem to irritate my nose too much.

In the morning, from day 1, my skin has felt noticeably smoother.  As the days go by, it just feels better and better.  Initially I thought perhaps it’s just the product from the night before, but after cleansing my skin and drying it, it still feels great.  Definitely an improvement in the texture.  It’s not dry, no dry patches, it really just feels healthier if I can put it that way.

I am trying to concentrate on one spot on my face and to me it does seem lighter, but I had a deep cleanse facial last week where they did brutal black head extractions so as a result I am all scarred up again, but the spot I have focused on was not touched and to me I see an improvement.  Excited to see what the next 3 weeks bring in terms of changes to my skin!”

Cicilia Kaufmann (50) says:

“For now my skin is less dehydrated and the fine lines from dehydration seems less visible.  The Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturizing Serum Concentrate feels silky and smooth on the skin, and I apply all three products to the face and neck area.  I love the scent of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate because I usually love essential oils (it contains Evening Primrose oil and Lavender oil), and find two to three drops is more than enough.  I am a firm believer in facial oils for more mature skin, because they most certainly help with dehydration.

The Dermatologist Solutions Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution stood out for me the most this week as it feels very hydrating on my dry and dehydrated skin.  I apply it to my whole face (not just my hyperpigmentation marks) because my skin looks very dull at the moment, and I am hoping it will add some glow and radiance.

All the products feel very pleasant on the skin, and I have not experienced any irritation (my skin is quite sensitive).

I have not experienced any miracle changes in my skin as yet, I think it is too early, but I remain hopeful.”

Luzanne Ashby (32) says:

“There’s one product that really stood out to me this week – the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturizing Serum Concentrate.  This lightweight serum targets age related dehydration by flooding the skin with moisture.  It contains Shiso Leaf that penetrates skin layers and hydrates skin at the cellular level.  It also contains Glycerin that attracts moisture and keeps the surface hydrated.  Glycerin in skin care products gives you the added benefit of acting like a makeup primer, because anything you apply on top of it, will adhere to it.  That means your foundation and concealer will last longer during the day.

What I love most about this serum, is that it has a ‘bursting’ texture – yes, you can actually feel the texture of this serum changing while you rub it into the skin.  It initially feels like a silicone-based primer, and as you massage it it slowly changes into a watery texture (without being messy or sticky).  Kiehl’s explains that this dual phase, ‘bursting’ texture protects the star ingredients, Shiso Leaf and Glycerin, and ensures that they’re only activated upon usage – clever, right?  It is also unscented, wax- and cream-free, which means it is suitable for even sensitive skin types.

Is age related dehydration really a thing?  Well, Kiehl’s seems to think so…  Age related dehydration is an imbalance of moisture in the skin that causes accelerated aging, dullness, and lifelessness.  Dehydration is a common sign of aging and it’s the first sign to appear in women in their 20’s.  Think about how your skin looks when it feels tight and uncomfortable – for me, I can instantly see when my skin loses radiance and appears to be lacklustre.

I have quite sensitive skin, especially during the colder Winter months.  When I say sensitive, I mean that my skin tends to go all red & blotchy, dry and flaky but with no burning sensations.  When I apply the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturizing Serum Concentrate, it almost feels like my skin experiences relief.  This serum instantly takes care of any tightness, my skin is left feeling hydrated, plump and comfortable.  And that’s the most important thing for me right now, skin that feels comfortable.”

Lovely lovely giveaway!!!!! I have used the MRC before and I loved it, but just couldn’t justify buying it again as it is quite pricey – I’ve been using The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil which is nice but just not the same. I’d love to especially try the Dermatologist Solutions Hydro-Plumping Retexturizing Serum Concentrate as I battle with dehydration lines that are starting around my eyes, and around my nose is permanently dehydrated. I think this might be that magic potion for it!

Reading Siobhan’s comment, I also previously used the Body Shop’s night serum and I must say, the 2 don’t compare. I thought the Body Shop one was doing nothing, but now I KNOW it was doing nothing for me.

Many people don’t seem to know about Kiehls products that I speak to, but it seems we don’t have a stockist here in PE, well at least not at our Edgars stores.

Luzanne I’m so honoured to be ‘featured’ on your blog…he he.

i think the product I’m the most excited to hear on is the “Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution”. I use to suffer from intense acne (I’m pretty sure I’m over exaggerating due to the fact everyone had clear skin around me,besides me) and thus the horrid acne scars came along…

I still have a few here and there (ranging from dark to not-so-dark) and I’ve been treating it with my vitamin E oil from body shop (which I like for when my skin is in the dry state rather than blemish control… I’ve also tried the tea tree range..)…but I’m yet to find anything else “worthy” to remove these scars, so the search continues..

Hope to hear good things for later weeks 😀

    Pri xx
