Get Ready With Me – Winter Edition + 3 Lip Options

Winter Makeup Tutorial

I did it!  Last weekend I sat down and filmed a fun ‘Get Ready With Me’ video.  I have been trying to get back in to filming YouTube videos for a while now, but each time I sat down, I just couldn’t get myself to start talking on camera.  I know it sounds ridiculous, and there are far worse things in life.  But I had a serious mental block after I wrote this blog post.  It took me a full 6 weeks to feel like I wanted to film another video again, and so I sucked it up & started small.

I missed interacting with you in a different way than blog posts and social media.  I missed the whole creative side of filming a video.  So, a couple of weeks ago I sat down and thought about all the things that bothered me about the whole YouTubing process.  I’m not going to list the things here in the blog post, because I doubt it’s something you’re interested in.  I sat down with a cup of tea and started thinking of SOLUTIONS to the ‘problems’.  I think I came up with some positive ideas and here I am today, posting about my first video since I decided to take a break from the ‘tube.

I actually really like the end-result of this video – basically it’s just you and me, listening to music while I apply a full face of makeup.  The makeup look I created is a Winter-inspired makeup look, plus I give you 3 lip options to wear with it (should you decide to recreate the look).  For me, there are 3 stars of the show in this video – the new MAC Dazzleshadow in ‘She Sparkles’ (part of the MAC Le Disko collection launching in July), the new Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-porter mascara, and the new L’Oréal Color Riche lipstick in ‘Preliminaire’.

I also tried something a little bit different with the editing of the video – I think it looks good (without tooting my own horn), what do you think?

Check out my video by clicking on the image below, it will take you through to my video on YouTube.  Please give the video a ‘thumbs up’ if you enjoyed it, and share on your social media platforms if you think it’s something that might interest other people.

Let me know which lip option is your favourite, I’d love to know!  I’m in love with L’Oréal Color Riche lipstick in shade Preliminaire but I know it’s extremely bold and might not be for everyone.  Preliminaire is part of the new Color Riche lipstick range that launched beginning of June.

I have a few ideas for videos I want to film during the next few weeks, so make sure you subscribe to my channel here.  I’m actually planning on filming another video later today – wish me luck!

Oh my god, Preliminaire is amazing!!!!!

    • 29 June 2015 / 17:33

Isn’t it incredible? It honestly doesn’t look like much in the lipstick bullet, but once applied it completely transforms. 🙂

Aaaaah this makeup look is so perfect for Winter and I love how you used so many shadows from one palette.

I need to get my hands on MAC Select Cover Up concealer, Benefit High Beam, Stila eyeshadow palette and the Lancome mascara. Do you like that mascara, Luzanne?

    Odette XO

    • 29 June 2015 / 17:35

That palette is definitely a firm favourite of mine. 🙂

The MAC Select Cover-Up concealer is great, you won’t be disappointed. I’m so glad Benefit is coming back to SA in July, I want to get my hands on a few more of their products.

I love the mascara, from the very first time I used it I knew it would be a winner. The mascara wand is plastic (which I LOVE) and the formula is quite wet and jet black. No flaking and no clumping either.

What do you think of the Beauty Fix makeup spray?

I wish I had your makeup skillz

    • 29 June 2015 / 17:37

I like it, it feels very refreshing on the skin and takes the edge off when I’ve applied too much powder. It makes my makeup look more natural because it helps everything set and blend together. It’s difficult to explain, but it makes my foundation look a bit more like skin. 🙂

Thank you for the lovely compliment, Wendy.

Well done! Loved it. I have my eye on that Revlon lip butter.

    • 29 June 2015 / 17:39

It’s the perfect shade for Autumn and Winter, plus you can apply it as sheer or as intense as you want.

I honestly love all my Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters, they feel so comfy on the lips.

    Back with a bang!!!
Well done, jy het niks om oor bekommerd te wees nie, dis stunning verby!! Ek lief opsie 2, dit pas jou so goed.

Nou weet ek, dankie xx
