Get Ready With Me – Lunch Meeting & Shopping

Get Ready With Me - Lunch Meeting & Shopping

Hello, friends!  Wouldn’t it be fun if you and I could sit in my beauty room and do our makeup together?  Well, that’s exactly what these ‘Get Ready With Me’ videos are like for me.  These #GRWM videos are some of my favourites to film and watch, because it feels like we’re just relaxing together, applying our makeup and listening to some music.  One day I would like to upload a ‘Chit Chat Get Ready With Me’ type video, where there is no fast forwarding and I chat to you about what’s been going on in my life in real time.  But a video like that would be 30 minutes long (no jokes!) and I doubt anyone would want to watch me waffling on for half an hour.  I personally don’t enjoy watching videos that are longer than 15 minutes, that’s why I like to keep mine under 10 minutes for the most part.

I had so much fun with this video!  I filmed a ‘Get Ready With Me’ about a week ago before going out to run errands, attend a lunch meeting and do a bit of shopping.  It’s a quick & easy makeup look – very glowy and natural, which is the type of makeup look I prefer.  I’ve come to realise these past few months that I really enjoy filming makeup tutorials, ‘Get Ready With Me’ videos and the odd ‘How-To’ video.  I’ve gone off filming haul videos as I’d rather just feature those products in a tutorial or review blog post anyway.  Do you enjoy watching haul videos, or do you prefer tutorials?

In today’s video I used a lot of my current favourite makeup products and brushes – it’s a mix of both drugstore and high-end products.  You will also see the ‘Shade Adjusting Drops’ from The Body Shop mentioned in this blog post, in action in the video.

I indicate the name of each product & brush on the screen while I’m using them, and going forward I will also list them in the accompanying blog post.

You can watch my video by clicking on the image below, it will take you through to the video on YouTube.  Please give the video a ‘thumbs up’ if you enjoyed it, and share on your social media platforms if you think it’s something that might interest your friends or family.

Remember to watch in HD (720p) – all you have to do is click on the ‘Settings’ button in the bottom right corner of the video screen and choose 720p.

P.S. You have convinced me to buy MAC Creme de Nude lipstick, Sigma Inner Corner brush, MAC Soft & Gentle and NYX liquid liner. You are bad for my bank balance!! 😉

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:06

Will do! Thank you for watching, Jenise! 🙂

      • 22 January 2016 / 16:07

P.S. I’m so happy to hear that – I love it when my readers buy products based on my recommendations. You are going to love all those items! 😀

Hi Luzanne, brow tutorial asseblief.

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:10

Ek sal definitief ‘n brow blog post or video doen. Sjoe, maar jy’s gelukkig om ‘n ABH Dipbrow Pomade te besit! Ek verkies maar altyd eerder ‘n wenkbrou potlood of so iets, want dis vir my baie vinniger. En dis ook maklik om oorboord te gaan met produkte soos die Pomade, dis hoekom ek my MAC Brow Fluidline Gelcreme eerder gebruik om fun haartjies te ‘mimick’. 😉

I enjoy GRWM videos more than hauls, if only because most of the YT videos I watch are international!

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:10

Thank you for letting me know, Dineo – I really appreciate the feedback. 🙂

Want to get the MAC Indianwood paint pot and the tiny Beauty Blender. 🙂 I bought the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation on your recommendation and I love it, thanks.

    XO Talitha

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:13

My pleasure, Talitha – so glad to hear you are enjoying the Double Wear Light foundation. Indianwood is a stunning colour, and so versatile – it looks beautiful on the lids, you don’t really even need to top it with an eyeshadow. 🙂

    Hi there,
Thank you very much for your video. I’m so impressed with your combination of affordable and high end products that are readily available to us. Definitely a look I’m going to try 🙂

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:14

Thank you for taking the time to watch my video, Mithi. And I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it! 😀

YES please to a brow routine video! Need to know how to make my brows look better! 🙂 Lovely video!! xxxx

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:14

Great! Will try to do a brow routine blog post or video ASAP. Thank you, Amy. xo

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:15

It’s quite similar to what I said in my comparison review of all the different makeup sprays I own. 🙂 I continue to use it because I paid R400,00 for it and it does make for a nice refreshing spray. ♥

A brow routine would be awesome! Please could you also do a favourites for Catrice, everyone seems to be jumping on the Catrice train and I’m still a bit uneasy if its worth it (even though its cheap). Thanks for the amazing blogs and videos xoxo 🙂

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:17

Will do that very soon! I’ve actually been thinking of an interesting way to feature certain products. I must admit, some of their products are great and others are misses for me personally. Thank you for watching my videos and reading my blog posts, Shannon. xo

Loved this!! Now I need to go to the shops to buy the MAC highlighter, Benefit primer and Stila palette. My credit card is going to hate me lol!

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:18

Ooooh, you are going to fall in love with Soft And Gentle from MAC – guaranteed! 🙂 And the Stila palette is a winner too! 😉

Don’t worry….my credit card hates me already! xo

How is the Claire’s makeup sponge? Is it worth it?

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:21

Hhhhmmm…good question! It doesn’t expand as much as the Beautyblender does, and also feels a lot more dense than the Beautyblender and Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I always wet my makeup sponges before using them (they just work better that way and absorb less product) and it did a decent job of smoothing over my foundation. They do have another makeup sponge with a similar shape to the Beautyblender (egg-shaped) and I want to test that one to decide which one I would recommend. I’m planning on doing a review blog post featuring only Claire’s products, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I swear you are the best South African youtuber out there!!! Your videos are so bright and colourful and helpful. I loved this and hope you will do more. I like that you showed both affordable and more luxury products, I like the mix. 🙂

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:22

Wowie! Thank you so much for the amazing compliment, Marisha! 😀

I think I need to invest in some Real Techniques make-up brushes. Which ones do you prefer, Luzanne? Real Techniques or Cala?

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:34

Shew – tough question!! If I had to choose, I would say I prefer Real Techniques face brushes and CALA eye brushes. You can’t go wrong with CALA eye makeup brushes, especially since they are so affordable (pricing starts at R30,00) but Real Techniques have a much wider selection of face brushes (and they are top quality) and a makeup sponge. So, I guess in the end I can’t really choose – CALA for eye makeup brush and Real Techniques for face makeup brushes. 😉

You make it look so easy! I love these neutral makeup looks, they’re so wearable. 🙂

    • 22 January 2016 / 16:36

Thank you for the compliment, Ursula – I told one of my readers on YouTube or Facebook that I often worry people are going to start saying my makeup looks are always so similar. But to be honest, these are the types of makeup looks I prefer to wear. I’m not big on bold smokey eyes and lots of colour – I like soft, feminine and wearable makeup. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you for posting this comment – I feel relieved! 🙂

    22 January 2016 / 21:52

Loved it! What nail varnish are you wearing? X

    • 23 January 2016 / 11:37

Hi Caryn – thank you for watching! 🙂 I’m wearing Morgan Taylor ‘No Way Rosé’ & OPI ‘Teenage Dream’ on top. I always mention what I’m wearing on my nails in the ‘Show More’ section of each video. 😉

I’ve just gone and bought the Estee Lauder DW Light and the Catrice concealer and highlighter. These videos are bad for my bank account! I usually use Chanel Vitalumier Aqua and love it but fancy a change. Fingers crossed!

    • 30 January 2016 / 10:20

Hahaha! I’ve always wanted to try the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua – what skin type do you have?

I hope you love your new products – the Catrice Re-Touch Light-Reflecting Concealer contains a tiny bit of shimmer but it’s not a true highlighter, it’s more of a brightener. 🙂
