Final Results & Review – L’Oréal Revitalift Filler Renew

Happy Wednesday, the weekend is in sight (so close, yet so far)…  Wow, time has whizzed by…it feels like just yesterday that I posted my ‘New In & First Impressions – L’Oréal Revitalift Filler Renew’ blog post.  In actual fact, though, it was almost 4 weeks ago!

In today’s blog post I’m going to share my final thoughts on the above mentioned skincare range from L’Oréal.  I’ve included a ‘Before & After’ photo at the end of the blog post, so you’ll be able to decide for yourself whether the final results are noticeable (and perhaps impressive).  Plus, I’ll also let you know how my skin got along with the Revitalift Filler Renew Hyaluronic Replumping Serum, Revitalift Filler Renew Anti-Ageing Day Replumping Care, Revitalift Filler Renew Filler Precision Eye Cream, and Revitalift Filler Renew Anti-Ageing Night Replumping Care.

I think it’s important that you take a quick look at my first impressions of each product in this blog post, because for the most part my experience with the products these past few weeks has remained the same.  I also explained exactly what Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is, and why it’s so important to incorporate products that contain this as an ingredient into your skincare routine.  Take a look at the blog post here.

Starting in our late twenties, our skin starts losing its ability to retain moisture, leading to fine lines & wrinkles.  Hyaluronic Acid acts as a humectant, this means it draws water in. HA helps your skin absorb moisture more effectively, because it can hold 1000 times its own weight in water.  It also helps to decrease water loss, plumps up the skin from within, and assists in maintaining a healthy barrier.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) molecules can travel deep into the skin and fill in the spaces between cells, this boosts collagen production and in turn makes skin firmer and smoother.  Keep in mind, though, collagen takes about 6 to 8 weeks to form, so improvements in the skin will be much more noticeable after 2+ months.

Rich in HA, this serum replenishes and retains moisture for intense hydration.  It’s suitable for all skin types, and I have found it has improved dryness & dehydration on my forehead, dullness and uneven texture, and has ever so slightly plumped up the fine lines I have around my eyes and mouth.

I can feel this serum maintains the level of moisture in my skin (more so than some of my other skincare products) and I can quite possibly get away with using just this as a moisturiser (although I don’t recommend it).  The ‘syringe’ delivery mechanism is very interesting, and I’ve started applying little dots of the serum directly to my skin (instead of onto my fingers, and then onto my skin).  I like to pat the serum with gentle pressure onto the skin, this helps to ‘push’ it into the skin (helping it to absorb more effectively).  It feels light (almost like water), and because it is so lightweight, it dries almost instantly.

What I like most about the Revitalift Filler Renew Hyaluronic Replumping Serum is that it doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky of oily.  My skin is left feeling smooth, supple and moisturised.

Did you know?  Applying a Hyaluronic Acid serum can help stimulate collagen (a protein that is responsible for maintaining skin’s elasticity), resulting in firmer-looking skin.

During the trial period I applied this HA serum in the morning and evening to freshly cleansed skin.  I then followed it up with the  Revitalift Filler Renew Anti-Ageing Day / Night Replumping Care Moisturiser.

I’ll admit the floral scent of this serum did take some getting used to, but after continuously using it for almost a month, I hardly notice the fragrance at all.  Be warned, though, if you have very sensitive skin this might sensitise your skin even more.

This lightweight cream comes in a squeezable tube with a metal tip applicator that feels fresh, cool and soothing.  The cold metal applicator depuffs the under eye area, almost like the old-school ‘refrigerated metal spoons trick’.  It feels like you’re applying a treatment to your eye area, it hydrates and works to minimise crow’s feet (you’ll see in my ‘After’ photo below, the results are definitely noticeable).  It’s definitely a must-have to wake up tired eyes, especially on those dreaded early mornings (note: I’m not a morning person).

Hyaluronic Acid helps the skin around my eyes retain moisture, whilst creating a smooth canvas for your foundation / concealer.  The cream itself glides across my dry and dehydrated under eye area, and melts right into the skin (a little bit goes a long way).   The Revitalift Filler Renew Filler Precision Eye Cream also has a subtle floral fragrance (just like the serum mentioned above) but fortunately it didn’t irritate my sensitive eyes (I have VERY sensitive eyes).

If you have crepiness that you would like to get rid of (without causing irritation), then this is definitely an affordable option to consider.

Did you know?  The order in which you apply your skin care products is of the utmost importance, this allows the active ingredients to effectively penetrate the skin & work their magic.  Here’s the correct order: Serum, eye cream, moisturiser, SPF.

A daytime moisturiser that feels super luxe and hydrating, but is still lightweight enough for my combination skin (and oily T-zone)?  Yes, please!  This cream leaves my skin feeling soft and touchable, and I can slowly start seeing some of that youthful fullness that we all lose as we age.  The HA helps to moisturise from the lower layers of the skin (it’s not just a surface fix), so my skin feels smoother and looks plumper without a greasy film or oily residue.  A little goes a very long way, I’ve been using this little jar for the past 3+ weeks and I still have at least 3/4 left (if not more).  A pea-sized amount is all you need – just dot all over the face, and then gently massage it into the skin (but never pull your skin or use downward motions).

As mentioned in my previous blog post, the Revitalift Filler Renew Anti-Ageing Day Replumping Care also contains glycerin, which is not only a skin repairing ingredient, but it also helps to retain water in the skin.  In addition to these skincare benefits, glycerin also acts as a ‘glue’ when applied to the skin, so anything you apply on top of it will stick to it.  If you don’t like makeup primers, then the glycerin in your daytime moisturiser will help your makeup to last just that little bit longer.

Until recently (maybe about a year ago), I used to always apply serums and moisturisers / face oils to just my face.  But when you think about it, your neck is exposed to the environment too.  It needs those active ingredients just as much as my forehead does.  So, always remember to apply your serums and moisturisers to your neck as well – I don’t know about you, but I definitely don’t want a turkey neck by the time I turn 40.

There are 2 things that I think L’Oréal can improve upon with regards to this daytime moisturiser:  Ditch the jar packaging (rather opt for an airless pump, to keep the ingredients fresher for longer), and add an SPF to protect skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

Did you know?  Skin cells are like cute little dolphins, they need water to live.  So a great way to lock in all the hydrating benefits of your moisturiser, is to apply it to damp skin (this can enhance absorption up to 10%).  Not dripping wet skin, ladies, damp skin i.e. after you have lightly patted your face with a towel – usually within 60 seconds of cleansing to prevent evaporation.  This will help the active ingredients to penetrate deeper within the skin.

So, usually a night-time moisturiser is super thick and creamy, right?  Well, this one from L’Oréal provides all the skin care benefits you need, but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.  It’s great for all skin types, I can vouch for this because it works really well with my oily T-zone and the dry, flaky areas on my forehead and cheeks.  I like that I wake up in the morning with a healthy glow, plus after using this for 3+ weeks, it has made the fine lines around my mouth and forehead seem a little shallower.

The gel-like texture almost feels like water on the skin (but like a velvety water, if that makes any sense at all) and maximises hydration without clogging pores.  It absorbs so well that I don’t have anything to remove in the morning – bonus!

If you’re in the market for a lightweight formula that still boosts skin’s moisture levels, while combating fine lines, I highly recommend you give this evening moisturiser a go – it’s an inexpensive option, especially considering the fact that it contains Hyaluronic Acid.

Did you know?  Dull, tired-looking skin is often caused by lack of proper blood flow to the skin.  You can combat this by massaging the skin immediately after applying your night-time moisturiser.  Just close your hand to make a loose fist and use your knuckles to massage the skin in small circular motions.

The proof is in the pudding, right?  Take a look at my ‘Before & After’ photos below – the before photo was taken on the 12th of August, and the after photo was taken today (7th of September).  I made sure to take both photos at the same time during the day (14h00), because I wanted the lighting of both photos to be the same.  I also didn’t brighten the image too much (over expose it) because I want you to be able to see texture and fine lines.  Blegh…  I’m wearing absolutely NO makeup in the photos (except for a little bit of brow pencil), and smiled just a little bit so that you can see some of the lines around my eyes and mouth.

As you can see in the ‘After’ photo below, my skin looks smoother and for some reason more even too!  The fine lines around my eyes (crow’s feet) have started to plump up ever so slightly, plus my smile lines are a teeny tiny bit less noticeable.  Even my dark under eye circles look a bit better, right?

P.S. Please excuse the terrible burn mark on my neck in the ‘After’ photo – one of these days Neal is going to remove all hair styling tools from my possession (I burn my neck or ears at least once a month!).

It’s important to remember that a skincare product is unfortunately not a magic wand, one can’t expect to see incredible results in just a month.  BUT I truly believe the results will be even more noticeable with continued use of these products, and I’m quite happy with the outcome so far.

Let’s be real, Dermal Fillers and Botox are expensive, in my opinion there are a number of things one can do before resorting to ‘the dreaded needle’.  The  L’Oréal Revitalift Filler Renew range is a cost-effective way to counteract the effects of aging.  I know not everyone can afford to buy the entire range – if I had to recommend just one product from the range, it would definitely be the Revitalift Filler Renew Hyaluronic Replumping Serum.

The L’Oréal Revitalift Filler Renew products retail for R284,95 each at leading pharmacies (Clicks & Dis-Chem) nationwide.

Please share your thoughts on the results in the comments section below, I’m really interested to hear what you think.  Do you think the results are noticeable after using the products for 3+ weeks?

There’s definitely an improvement in the under eye area…and as you say, it’s been shy of a month, so after some more time I’d love to see if there’s an even better improvement.

Your posts are so well thought out and I love the little Q&A after each product is discussed. As I was reading I thought: I wonder which items she’d say we have to have…..and true as BOB, you answered that question. Definitely the most educational beauty blogger on the block! I just love your posts.

I’m definitely going to give the serum a try, especially now that I’m out of the Kiehl’s serum.

My goodness, I didn’t think we would see much of a difference after 4 weeks but I’m happy to eat humble pie. I can most definitely see a difference, your under eye circles look much better and the fine lines around your eyes as well.

Shew, I must get myself that serum. Do you think it’s necessary to apply it morning and evening?

    • Luzanne
      13 September 2016 / 10:24

Yay! I’m so happy to hear the results are noticeable – mission accomplished! 😉

I think you’ll see a more noticeable improvement a little bit faster if you use it morning and night, but you definitely don’t HAVE to. 🙂
