I’m doing things a little bit differently for the very last ‘Blog Birthday’ giveaway blog post – I’m pretty sure you were expecting a review of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette… Fooled you! Today’s giveaway blog post is going to be short & sweet (well, as short & sweet as a Pink Peonies blog post can be…) because I know a lot of you ladies want to get to the good stuff – the giveaway prize. First & foremost: This is an INTERNATIONAL giveaway, thus all Pink Peonies blog readers are able to enter. I wanted to feature at least one international giveaway that’s open to ALL my blog readers & social media followers (I’ve had quite a few of my overseases blog readers ask if I can open up the giveaways to everyone), and since the Chocolate Bar palette is relatively small, I decided it would be easy to send anywhere in the world.
Get ready for a rave review, because I am utterly obsessed with this eyeshadow palette! The first time I opened the palette, my eyes glazed over… Not only because the eyeshadow shades are absolutely stunning but also because the shadows smell like rich cocoa. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate, but the scent of this is just hypnotising. The magnetized tin contains 16 eyeshadows that are made with real cocoa powder (for its anti-oxidant properties). The inside of the palette features a mirror and plastic sleeve with each shadow name printed on it.
The Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette contains an array of matte, shimmer, glitter, frost and satin finishes – 6 of the shadows are matte, which makes it very versatile. The shimmer and satin finish eyeshadows glide on like butter, plus I find all the shades (except for ‘White Chocolate’) to be highly pigmented. This palette is the perfect mix of the Urban Decay Naked 1 (warm neutrals) & the Naked 3 (pinky neutrals) palettes.
For today’s FOTD I decided to do an eye look that will suit most eye shapes – I didn’t mess about with dramatic winged liner or an intense smokey look. I wanted to play around with some of the darker shades (because it feels like I always gravitate towards doing bright & shimmery eye looks), especially since Winter is just around the corner for us South Africans. I also used the shimmery highlighter shade called ‘Champagne Truffle’ (bottom corner) to highlight my cheekbones and cupid’s bow (I kept it quite natural since the shimmery highlight shade can be quite intense).
Dermalogica AGE Smart Skinperfect Primer
L.A. Girl PRO BB Cream – Light/Medium
MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer – NW25 (for my ridiculous under eye circles)
Catrice Re-Touch Light-Reflecting Concealer (to highlight the rest of my face)
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural – Medium
The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder – Fair Matte (to bronze the perimeters of the face)
MAC Matte Blush – Taupe (to contour)
Bobbi Brown Blush – Apricot (this blush is SO gorgeous!)
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette – Champagne Truffle (to highlight the cheekbones and cupid’s bow)
MAC Brow Pencil – Lingering
L’Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist – Brunette
MAC Paint Pot – Painterly (used as an eyeshadow primer)
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (smells sooooo good…):
White Chocolate (a matte cream shade, used all over the lid, crease and brow bone to set eyeshadow primer)
Salted Caramel (a matte warm-toned brown shade, blended into the crease)
Milk Chocolate (a mid-tone matte brown shade, blended into the lower crease area)
Semi-Sweet (a rich chocolate brown matte shade, applied with a Sigma E25 brush to give my lid a sheer wash of colour)
Marzipan (a beautiful shimmery rose gold shade, applied to the inner third of eyelid and inner corner to brighten up the eyes)
Cherry Cordial (a matte plum shade with flecks of sparkle, applied as an eyeliner to the top lid)
L.A. Girl Glide Gel Liner Pencil – Black Magic (to tightline upper lash line)
Salted Caramel and Semi-Sweet (blended onto lower lash line)
L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes Mascara – Black
Eylure False Lashes – No. 118
Catrice Long Lasting Lip Pencil – What Rose Wood Do (current favourite lip liner)
The Body Shop Lip Gloss – Lychee
I then set my makeup using my trusty MAC Fix+ Finishing Mist.
Whoop! Whoop! I bought an extra Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette a couple of weeks ago just for YOU! I’m planning on doing a short haul blog post this week and I’ll give you more info on who the online stockist is, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that blog post.
