Estée Lauder Goodies

I have heard so many rave reviews on the Estée Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow Duo in Raisins , I decided I needed it in my life.  Funny enough, it was the day after I had decided this that I received a Edgars pamphlet containing all their beauty promotions.  One of them was an Estée Lauder promotion where you had to purchase 2 products (1 of which must be a skincare product) in order to qualify for a free gift.  And what a glorious free gift it was!

So off I went to the Edgars store at The Grove to go pick my products.  Unfortunately they were running low on certain items (and they didn’t have Raisins in stock – boo!) but I wasn’t going to give up, so I went to the Edgars at Centurion Mall.  Fortunately they had Raisins in stock (only 1!) and the assistant helped me choose a skincare product.  I decided to get the ‘Resilience Lift Firming / Sculpting Eye Creme’ because, for some reason, my eye area is not as sensitive as the rest of my face (I have mentioned in previous posts my skin is extremely sensitive and dry at the moment).  I was worried that if I bought a facial cream / serum, I could very well have a reaction and that would be money wasted.

This is a gorgeous super thick and creamy eye cream.  Estée Lauder describes this as “an intensely nourishing formula empowered with both  exclusive Photo-Activated and Nocturnal Lift Complexes to help skin boost its natural collagen and elastin production. Luminizing optics instantly blur the look of fine, dry lines.”  In other words it contains illuminating pigments, which brightens the under eye area.  Does it brighten?  Yes.  Does my under eye area appear firmer and younger?  Too early to say.  Does it smoothen my under eye area?  Definitely.  A little goes a long way, so this should keep me for well over a year.  Price = R 585.00 ($ 58.00) for 15ml (0.5 oz).

Now let’s get to the reason I even considered going to Estée Lauder.  Raisins… *swoon*

Let me start with the packaging.  Gold sturdy packaging with the signature swirly ‘EL’ on top makes it look rather classy.  The compact also contains mirror on the inside – bonus!  This is by far the most luxuriously packaged eyeshadow palette I own.

The duo palette consists of 2 colours (hence it being called a duo, Luz – derp!).  The first colour is a soft, shimmery light pink / peach colour – perfect for highlighting under the brow bone or inner tear duct.  The second colour is my favourite – a deep cranberry shade (if MAC Swiss Chocolate and MAC Cranberry had a baby, this shade would be it).  This highly pigmented eyeshadow is not too shimmery – perfect for the crease or smudging on the lower lash line.  I find these 2 colours complement each other really well and the texture of these are smooth and doesn’t need a lot of blending.  I am definitely looking forward to using this duo during the colder months ahead.  Price = R 395.00 ($ 32.00) for 4,5g (0.12 oz).

The Pure Color Eyeshadow Duo in Cobblestones looks gorgeous as well, but perhaps I’ll be cheeky and wait for another free gift promotion!

Please note the promotion unfortunately ended on the 31st of March 2013 and is not available at present.

Good news though –  Estée Lauder South Africa have launched their new online store where you can purchase all your favourite skincare and makeup products.  There’s free delivery for orders over R 750.00 plus a free sample (which you can choose) with every purchase.

In the next post I’ll be showing you exactly what I received in my free gift.  I definitely got a lot of bang for my buck!

Estee Lauder stuff is great and good value! And the freebies one gets with the promotions are usually to die for! Unfortunately my pennies are no longer enough to afford her skincare and makeup range!
