I know this post is way overdue, but life happened and so it took the back seat. This is going to be a short blog post on the beauty products I bought whilst on holiday in Cape Town a few weeks ago. Short blog post…haha…famous last words!
I’m not going to go into too much detail on the actual products and what my experience with them have been like. I’ll use them for a while longer and will decide whether they should be in one of my monthly favourites or perhaps in a ‘things I regret purchasing’ blog post. I’m planning on doing a blog post on products I am disappointed in, in the next week or so. I always enjoy finding out what products other beauty bloggers have tried and have not liked, and if their reasons for dislike are valid, then I won’t be wasting my money either.
First up we have MAC goodies…
There’s a MAC Pro store in V&A Waterfront and I knew I had to stop by as I’ve been wanting to try their Strobe Cream for a while now but was hesitant to buy a full-sized tube. At a MAC Pro store, one can usually buy travel-sized versions of some of their skincare products. I have been using the Mineralized Charged Water for a while now and also wanted to try the Fix+ makeup setting spray, so I decided to get the travel-size as well. I have a thing for smaller sized products, I just find them so cute and enticing!!

Next up we have nail polishes and hair accessories…
Neal was feeling a bit under the weather the first few days of our holiday, so when we went to Cavendish Square on the Sunday morning (it was a very cold and rainy day – perfect for indoor shopping). We quickly stopped at the pharmacy to see if they could give him something for his flu symptoms. Anyway, while he was talking to the pharmacist my eyes started to wander…you know just innocently looking around at what the pharmacy sold in terms of beauty products. My eyes fell on the Bourjois counter, so I sneaked off to go have a look. To be honest, the shelves were a bit empty and as I turned around to walk back to where Neal was standing, I saw the Essie stand. Lots and lots of pretty nail polishes, I couldn’t resist!

I also bought some seriously cute hair ties at Accessorize, love the metal bows (especially the rose gold one) and the colours of the other hair ties (coral and duck egg blue are some of my favourite colours).
Last, but definitely NOT least, the reason why I actually went to Cape Town. LUSH was well….lush!
When I walked into the LUSH store, I started sniffing and testing everything. I started at one end and then made my way around but there were just too many things. It was all getting a bit too much for me so I stopped, took a deep breath, walked up to one of the sales ladies and asked her to explain EXACTLY what every single product in the store was for. I then told her what my hair type and skin type was and asked her to recommend products. So here are the goodies I bought, I will definitely be dedicating a whole separate post to all the Lush products. I can tell you, though, the Marilyn hair treatment has changed my life, I don’t know how…but it has turned dull, dry, frizzy hair into smooth, shiny, healthy-looking hair.
Items purchased: ~ Marilyn Hair Treatment ~ American Dream Conditioner ~ Bubblegum Lip Scrub ~ Wiccy Magic Muscles ~ Creamy Candy Bubble Bar ~ Butterball Bath Bomb ~ You’ve Been Mangoed Bath Melt
And the sales lady was kind enough to give us a few of their toothpaste tablets for free.
I also bought way more clothes than I should have, but hey…I was on holiday and shopping makes me happy. We’re going down to Cape Town again for 2 weeks at the end of September, this time we’ll be going in the car. You know what that means? No suitcase weight limitations – woohoo!
