Blogging Break

Pink Peonies Blog Break

Just to let you guys know I’ll be taking a short blogging break for the next week or two – I wasn’t even sure if writing a blog post about this was necessary but I didn’t want you to wonder where I am and why I’m not blogging this week.

Neal and I are going to Cape Town for a couple of days and although we’re only leaving on Friday, I have some things that I need to sort out before we leave.  AND I’m planning on giving my blog a little makeover in the future, so I’ve been trying to get my thoughts in order on how I want it to look and what I want to change (plus I’m still deciding whether I should use a local web designer or an overseas one).

Then, I’m also working hard to get my Youtube channel started, I’ve been receiving so many messages and emails from you guys motivating me to start it, so I have been trying really hard to get all my ducks in a row.  It has been a struggle (for a couple of months now), to say the least, because I want the quality of the videos to be good for you guys.  I’m the type of person who likes watching high quality (HD) Youtube videos with great lighting, and professional editing.  So whilst I’ve been trying to get a filming section set up, and been struggling with getting the right lighting and settings on my camera, I’ve also had to start doing research on how to edit videos.  Let’s get real, I’m a 31-year old woman who is VERY technologically challenged and it feels like I’ve been having one long brain fart for the past year or so.  My brain is just unable to hold information for long, plus I just can’t seem to concentrate for long periods of time.  It’s so frustrating, I even purchased a Sprayology Brain Power to see if it will kick start my unfocused mind.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, girls, but once you hit 30…it’s all downhill from there!

It sounds like I’m complaining about the things that I am planning for my blog, I’m really not, change is good and learning new things is always great.  But it can sometimes get a bit overwhelming and that’s how I’m feeling at the moment.  Overwhelmed.  So I am going to take a couple of days to get my thoughts in order, to decide what I like about my blog (and change the things I don’t like about it), and to focus on filming my first Youtube video and being 100% happy with the end result to load it onto Youtube for you guys to see.  Plus, I’ll be clearing out LUSH’s shelves whilst I’m in Cape Town so I’m training hard for that too – haha!

I need YOUR help with something please – let me know in the comments section below:

1. Whether you watch Youtube videos?

2. What type of videos you enjoy watching?

3. What you think my first video should be (Haul? Empties? Review?)

I’m thinking of purchasing a few extra things from LUSH and will have a giveaway linked to my first or second Youtube video – a type of celebration for making it through my first filming and editing experience.  What do you think?

As always I really appreciate the time you guys take out of your day to pop onto my blog and leave a comment, it’s always a highlight of my day!  I’ll see you soon!

Hi Luzanne, you definitely deserve a break! You work so hard on your blog, keeping us entertained and informed :)
I watch loads of beauty YouTube videos, my favourites being Reviews and First Impressions. I always love watching a good Haul video but it just makes me want to go out and buy everything I see!
I look forward to seeing you on YouTube. I have no doubt that your channel will be as successful as your blog!
We’ve been having amazing weather here in Cape Town. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it stays like this for your visit :)

  6. Lizna 15 July 2014 / 16:24

I really enjoy watching haul and first impression videos, then it’s like new products + a little review on the side :)

  7. Caryn 15 July 2014 / 17:05

  8. Geraldine 15 July 2014 / 17:08

We will miss you but I can imagine you would need a break, do enjoy your holiday in Cpt and remember to go for a cheese and wine tasting!
I like short videos, hauls and empties are my favourite types of videos.
You should do a Cape Town holiday haul video. :)

  9. Holly Morello 15 July 2014 / 17:15

Enjoy your trip, I have no idea where Cape Town is but I’m sure you will have a blast!

I love any type of YT video, I’m subbed to so many gurus and will definitely sub to your channel once it’s up! ♥

  12. Chelsea Harvey 15 July 2014 / 17:32

I am sad to hear you’re taking a break as I love your posts but you most definitely deserve one and hope you enjoy every moment in my city! :)

    1. I don’t often have time to, but if I’m very interested in the topic I will
    2. I love watching reviews and hauls
    3. I think your first video should be about your trip to CT and the goodies you bought

All the best for your trip and look forward to seeing your new site!

    Chelsea x

  13. Sam Siddique 15 July 2014 / 18:10

Ever since you’ve taken part in the Super Gorgeous photo a day challenges I have loved reading your blog and would love to see you take on YouTube as well :)

I think for your first couple of videos you should definitely go with some old favourites as mentioned above (hauls, reviews etc.) but also consider doing a “what’s in my bag” – it would be a good starting point as an introductory video as your bag and your purchases are personal to you so it’s a good way for viewers to feel like they are getting to know someone!

Additionally, you should think about what kind of topics you will want to include on your channel and whether or not in the future you will branch out with a second channel for things like vlogs.

Also, I would never have guessed you were 31 – thought you were in your 20’s :)

All the best and have a great time in Cape Town (lots of pics please!)

    Sam x

  14. Chante 15 July 2014 / 18:54

Im addicted to Youtube videos :) But I like them short and to the point. I find that although I love YT, I generally don’t want to watch a 10 min video. Although I do tend to make exceptions for SA bloggers, because I like to see what they have to say :)

    I enjoy watching:
    – Brand reviews or hauls
    – Empties
    – Beauty Tags:
    – whats in my makeup bag
    – would you rather (beauty edition)
    – travel essentials
    – favourite makeup brushes
    – perfect palette tag

Sorry for that ramble. Enjoy taking a break and I agree with Chelsea, being a CT girl myself I’d love to know how you found it and what goodies you got too :)

  15. Tarryn B 15 July 2014 / 19:25

Definitely watch Youtube videos. Haul, empties and get ready with me (makeup tutorial) type vids are my favourite. I also really love what’s in my handbag type stuff as well. So, any of those would be a great first video :)

  16. Melissa ❀ 15 July 2014 / 19:39

I would love to see hauls, tags and tutorials please! I am so excited to watch your videos!!! Thank you for trying so hard to give your readers the best quality blog posts (and now videos), we appreciate it! ❀

  17. stephanie 15 July 2014 / 20:06

    Enjoy ur trip :)

  18. Dee 15 July 2014 / 20:20

I dont really watch youtube videos tbh but will definitely give it a go if you start a channel. Not sure what the norm is for videos but if they’re kind of the same as blog posts, then I would enjoy hauls and empties. It would also be nice to show us how you use your Babyliss Curl Secret (I saw you mentioned it on your Instagram). :)

  19. Lily 15 July 2014 / 22:33

Your blog is so beautiful already, I can’t imagine it getting better! You are so good at this, Luzanne! I can’t wait to watch you on YouTube!! Woot woot!!
Yes, I watch more YouTube than actual TV. I enjoy watching reviews, tutorials, GRWM’s (my fave) empties, beauty tags…etc!
Hope you and Neal have a great time!!

  20. Kate Ferguson (FergliciousKate) 16 July 2014 / 10:31

    1. All. The. Time. No really, every single day of my life!
    2. I enjoy hauls, tutorials, vlogs, what’s in my bag, tags etc. I don’t mind reviews but I only watch them if I was keen on the product before hand.
    3. Considering you are about to empty Lush, I say do a holiday haul first :-)

  21. Charlene 16 July 2014 / 10:55

Cape Town is the best!! Looking forward to your new blog and youtube. I would suggest your trip to Cape Town to be the first clip :)

Good luck with it all x

  22. Anye 16 July 2014 / 12:12

    1. Yes I watch a lot of youtube
    2. Tutorials and reviews – not really haul videos
    3. Tutorial of review

We really need more SA youtubers! I feel like I can relate/connect more with them.

  23. Abby 16 July 2014 / 19:23

I do watch YT beauty vids but not as often as I would like. I enjoy haul type videos. Adore your blog as is but I am sure any changes you make will be just as cute :)

xoxo One Stiletto At a Time

  24. Erica 16 July 2014 / 19:35

I like watching you tube videos but don’t let the video became too long. Hauls and empties are always fun.

  25. adajeannie 16 July 2014 / 19:57

Cant wait for your youtube videos
    1) Yes addicted to youtube
    2) Haul, Reviews, Tutorials, Empties, Favourites etc. I will watch it all, comment and like :)
    3) Anything you want to – we support you

    Enjoy your trip

  26. Tjoppie 17 July 2014 / 09:46

Love whatever you post about! Don’t really watch You Tube videos but will definitely have a look at yours!

  27. Henriette 17 July 2014 / 11:39

Hi Luzanne enjoy your break – its well deserved! Weather is horrid here today, but we hope it clears up for your arrival 😉 (although regardless of rain and cold, winter in Cape Town is awesome!)

    1. Don’t really watch You Tube videos that much, but I’m a bit useless with hair styling so I’ve watch a couple of those (maybe a good idea for you as your hair is always beautiful!)

    2. As above.

    3. Despite my answer above I would be keen to watch a haul or review video by you!

  28. Sibahle 23 July 2014 / 06:42

I watch youtube videos all the time and really enjoy watching reviews and mostly tutorials. I’m so excited and cannot wait to see yours.
