I’m back with my second instalment of ‘Best Of Beauty 2014’ and today we’re chatting about all my best-loved bath & body products. Some of these products are old favourites (meaning I’ve mentioned them in a monthly favourites blog post before) and others are brand spanking new favourites. So without further ado, let’s jump right in!
♥ NIVEA Creme Coconut Shower Cream (R 28,99) – Smells. So. Good. You guys know how much I adore the smell of anything coconutty (yes…in my world, that’s really a word). This shower cream from NIVEA lathers up really well and leaves my skin feeling moisturised with the added benefit of an oh-so-subtle hint of fresh coconuts. If you like that tropical coconut oil scent, then you will love this shower cream. Available at Clicks, PnP, Woolworths, Dis-Chem, Checkers and Spar stores.
♥ LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub (R 95,00) – definitely an oldie but goodie, I’ve mentioned this vegan lip scrub countless times here on the blog. If you struggle with chapped / flaky lips and find it difficult to wear lipsticks or glosses because they tend to accentuate the flaky skin, then get your hands on one of these jars of magical goodness. I’ve almost run out of my little jar and I’m getting a bit antsy because I don’t want to be stuck without it, so I’m placing an online order tonight (I’m adding Sympathy For The Skin to my basket because it sounds like it smells amazing). Scoop out a tiny bit of this bubblegum scented lip scrub with your index finger and then run your finger over your lips, scrubbing gently. You can then either lick your lips to remove the scrub or rinse with warm water. Castor sugar exfoliates and Jojoba oil nourishes the lips. The result? Soft, supple, flake-free, kissable lips. LUSH products are available in the LUSH online store, as well as in-store (Cavendish, V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk and Gateway). Gauteng-based ladies & gents – keep your eyes on the blog, I hear we’ll be getting a LUSH store in Johannesburg soon!
♥ The Body Shop Honeymania Cream Body Scrub (R 140,00) – I actually mentioned this collection in my yearly favourites blog post for 2013, and mentioned this body scrub in my ‘September 2014 Favourites’. This creamy scrub exfoliates (without over-scrubbing) and nourishes the skin, all while leaving the most amazing honey-sweet floral lingering. I always receive compliments whenever I wear something from this range (especially when I layer a couple of products), and I think it’s because the scent is the perfect mix between floral and sweet. Now if only The Body Shop would create a hair oil mist of sort, I would love for my hair to smell heavenly too! The Body Shop products are available at…well…The Body Shop stores, as well as selected Clicks stores.
♥ L’OCCITANE Arlésienne Body Oil (R 470,00) – I’m smitten. I received a beautiful parcel from L’OCCITANE South African towards the end of last year containing products from their Arlésienne collection. It was love at first sniff for me and I haven’t stopped using the products from the range since. I’m very picky when it comes to products with a rose fragrance because, for me, there is a fine line between an ‘old granny’ rose scent and a fresh, hip & happening rose scent. Now I feel like a granny for saying ‘hip & happening’… Anyway, the Arlésienne range is a thing of beauty – the scent features notes of rose, violet, saffron and mandarin. This is a dry oil, which means when you spritz it onto the skin, it is almost immediately absorbed (no oily residue). Combine a super light dry oil texture, with a beautiful soft rose fragrance and you have a WINNER in my book. I’m also obsessed with the striking pink & rose gold packaging of this range (you guys know me and pink & rose gold, we’re all BFFs). L’OCCTANE products are available in the L’OCCITANE SA online shop or in-store nationwide.
♥ LUSH Brightside Bubble Bar (R 54,50) – handsdown my favourite bath product of the YEAR (I’ve mentioned it on the blog before, here and here)! Brightside instantly lifts my mood, it’s like taking a bath in bright orange bath water overflowing with light & fluffy bubbles, while filling the bathroom with a fresh & zesty sweet citrus scent. This Bubble Bar from LUSH is particularly huge and can easily be cut up into 4 or 5 pieces, so you can get a bang for your buck! LUSH products are available in the LUSH online store, as well as in-store (Cavendish, V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk and Gateway).
♥ Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Intensive Lip Repair Balm (R 185,00) – also a featured in a previous monthly favourites blog post, this lip balm nourishes, moisturises and hydrates dry lips. I love the subtle, yet refreshing, Eucalyptus scent of this gel-based lip balm, plus it can be worn alone (it gives the lips a natural glossy finish) or on top of your favourite lipstick. I apply this right before I go to bed at night & wake up with soft and hydrated lips. Elizabeth Arden products are available at Edgars, Truworths, Foschini, Red Square and Woolworths stores.
♥ Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturiser Cocoa Radiant ($ 6,49) – don’t shoot! This is unfortunately not available in South Africa but I am holding thumbs it will arrive soon. I’m normally so lazy when it comes to applying a body moisturiser after I get out of the shower / bath but this product has been a total game-changer for me (I mentioned this in my ‘August 2014 Favourites’). The spray nozzle spritzes a light misting of body lotion onto the skin, which means it is absorbed almost instantly. This lightweight lotion is super moisturising, and yet doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky / greasy. I think we should all sign a petition & send it to the Vaseline HQ to bring this to South African shores. This unique spray bottle can also be used right-side up or upside down, which means you can now moisturise the middle of your back without trying to bend your body like a contortionist.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing my skin care saviours of 2014 with you – my favourite face masks, cleansers, lotions and potions. I’m still struggling to narrow down my makeup favourites to 6 or 7 products. If you think about it, 7 products don’t even cover my full face makeup routine (primer, foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, contour powder, blush, highlighter, brow pencil, eyeshadows, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick) – those are already 13 products!
I’ll just have to try harder, I guess…
But first…let me go make an iced tea in my new Zoku Iced Coffee & Tea Maker. If you follow me on Instagram (@PinkPeoniesBlog), then you probably saw the photo I posted last week. I know it’s totally off-topic but if you love making homemade iced tea / coffee but you hate waiting around for it to cool down in the fridge, then get yourself one of these nifty travel mugs. From piping hot tea / coffee to a yummy ice cold beverage in 8 MINUTES, no ice that dilutes your drink & you know exactly what has gone into your drink (no preservatives or any other nasties).
