I went through the cupboards in my beauty room, this past weekend, in anticipation for a big Spring cleaning session and noticed that I have A LOT of unopened beauty products – makeup, skin care, hair care, nail polishes and body care goodies stashed away. As I’ve mentioned before, I am very fortunate in the sense that brands often send me products for review but sometimes 1. I already have the products in my collection because I bought them before the brand / PR company sent them to me; 2. I am sent products that I know I won’t be able to use because it doesn’t match my skin tone, hair type etc.; 3. Sometimes brands / PR send me doubles of certain products; and 4. I unfortunately can’t feature ALL the products that I receive here on the blog. That would probably mean I would have to blog on a daily basis, and that’s just not in the cards for me right now.
By the way, I use the term ‘beauty room’ very loosely…it’s actually just a spare bedroom that has my vanity (to apply my makeup), a blogging area (for photos) and a filming area (for my YouTube videos). It sounds luxurious, but trust me, it’s just like any other ol’ room.
So, here’s the deal: I’ll be doing A LOT of giveaways during the next few weeks, especially since I have the giveaway stash here at home, plus I’ve been contacted by a couple of brands to do giveaways for them too (they’ll send the prizes directly to the winners). Some will be brand-specific giveaways and others will be hampers containing a mixture of beauty products.
Here’s where I need your help, so please feel free to leave a comment down below. My question is: Shall I create specific type hampers i.e. a hamper containing only hair care products, and another hamper containing only makeup products etc? Or would you prefer a hamper that contains an array of beauty products i.e. makeup, nail polishes, body care, hair care etc?
And here’s another question: Do you prefer social media giveaways i.e. I give away a hamper to only my Twitter followers OR do you like it when all my giveaways are all in one place on my blog? I personally prefer hosting all my giveaways on the blog, because that means people are able to choose how they want to enter. Maybe you only feel comfortable leaving a comment to enter a giveaway? Or perhaps you don’t have Instagram or Twitter, and so you’d prefer a giveaway on the blog to have additional entry options?
At the end of the day hosting giveaways on the blog is my way of saying THANK YOU to my loyal readers (and ‘followers’, although I really dislike that term). But, and this is a BIG BUT…I don’t want my blog to become known as the “giveaway blog” and that’s why I always try to take a break between giveaways. It is far more important for me to know you return to my blog every day or every other day because you enjoy reading my reviews or because you think you can learn something from me.
I also always try to combine my giveaways with either a review or ‘Face Of The Day’ blog post, just to make it a bit more meaningful. I’m not really a fan of just posting random giveaways saying “You could win this awesome prize, even though I have no idea whether it’s any good.”
I have quite a collection of goodies to give away during the next few weeks – let’s just call it Women’s Month giveaways, so please bear with me if you see new giveaway blog posts popping up at least twice a week. To be quite honest, I get anxious when I see clutter around me (even when the clutter is stashed away in a cupboard, I still know it’s there) and so I’d like to sort most of the giveaways out during the next month or so. So many products are waiting to go to loving homes, and I feel guilty for leaving them unused and unloved stashed away in my cupboard.
Please keep in mind that I won’t be able to choose the winners based on skin type, skin tone or hair type – so if you win a hamper that contains products you can’t use, maybe share the loot with your friends and family.
As with all my giveaways on the blog, I’ll be making use of the trusty Rafflecopter widget. I use this widget because it keeps track of all the entries on all my social media platforms for me and also chooses a random winner on my behalf. That means I have no control over who is picked as a winner, and I think it keeps it honest and ethical. Also, remember to always tweet using the Rafflecopter widget (I usually allow for entrants to tweet every day to gain entries) otherwise it won’t register your Twitter entry.
Top Tip: If you are not sure how to enter a giveaway using the Rafflecopter widget, then check out this blog post. It’s a brilliant step-by-step guide on how to complete each entry.
I would like to make it very clear that I will NEVER include any used products in my giveaways – everything is always unused / sealed.
While we’re on the subject of giveaways – have you entered my Red Square #BeautyWinterWonders giveaway? There’s a R 1000,00 gift voucher up for grabs!
And so I’ll end this blog post off by thanking you for supporting my blog these past 2,5 years. It really is because of your comments, tweets, messages and emails that I am where I am today.
P.S. Be sure to pop by the blog a bit later today, as I’ll have a brand new giveaway up for you.
