We’re halfway through ’12 Days Of LUSHmas’ – if you’ve only just discovered my blog and not sure what this Christmas series is about, then click here. It’s been a lot of fun doing daily blog posts but it’s also quite challenging – especially on the days when I load 2 blog posts in one day (like yesterday). Shew! I filmed 2 YouTube videos today as well, that’s why this blog post is up a bit later than normal.
A yuletide favourite, loved by many…this is Cinders Bath Bomb and is part of the LUSH Christmas 2014 collection. Even though Cinders is a lot smaller than your average Bath Bomb, is packs a punch…a BIG fragrant punch! Fortunately for us, being smaller also means it comes with a cheaper price tag – R 34,50.
Cinders Bath Bomb smells exactly like Christmas to me – cinnamon, spice & all things nice! The red speckles you see on top are vegan popping candies (you know, like the popping candy crystals you used to love when you were a little kid?) and they’re supposed to pop and crackle as soon as soon as Cinders hits the bath water but…
I was listening to my bath water like a child listening to their Rice Krispies…and nothing…niks…nada. No snap, crackle or pop! The popping candy is supposed to be reminiscent of the popping sounds a warm cozy fire makes, but like I said: Nothing.
I plopped Cinders into my bath water on a lovely rainy evening and found it to be the PERFECT warming and comforting bath product. It fizzes quite fast and before you know it, the show is over – which could be a bit of a letdown for some. When dropped into the bath it whizzes around like a little ball of energy giving the water a slight yellow tint. I didn’t take a photo of the bath water as there were no bubbles, no shimmers, no glitters and no foam – just plain ol’ yellow bath water. It’s probably not the most interesting Bath Bomb LUSH has ever produced but its the warm & inviting, yet sweet scent makes me want to go back for more. I would describe the scent as a mulled cider aroma with a spicy cinnamon twist.
Cinders is packed with Orange Oil and Citric Acid, these combined moisturise the skin and give the bath water a fresh citrusy scent. Almond Oil is rich in Vitamin E to soften and nourish dry skin and Cinnamon Leaf Oil is also added for its spicy, woody notes to create an comforting & uplifting scent. My skin did feel moisturised after my Cinders bath, however, I wish it was just a tad bit more moisturising.
Cinders is for those people who love the smell of Cinnamon but don’t necessarily enjoy the smell of Cloves – Hot Toddy has a delectable spicy scent but contains Clove extract, which might not be for everyone.
Ultimately, I love the warm & inviting smell of this Bath Bomb and given its size, I was really impressed by how strong the scent was and how long it lingered on the skin for BUT if you’re looking for a Bath Bomb that is going to put on an extravagant show, then Cinders is unfortunately not the product for you.
Cinders Bath Bomb retails for R 34,50 and is currently available in the LUSH online store, as well as in-store (Cavendish, V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk and Gateway).
