Introducing Snow Angel Bath Melt – a brand spanking new LUSH Christmas 2014 collection item never seen before, although it is the scent-sister of Snowcake soap.
You guys know I’m a total sucker for gold and glitter, so naturally I was drawn to this Bath Melt. When I picked her up and placed her in a cozy little LUSH paper bag, my fingers were COVERED in glorious golden glitters. Heaven! The inclusion of that much glitter in a product will no doubt deter many people from giving Snow Angel a chance. I find it such as shame since the glitters didn’t stick to my skin (after my heavenly bath), there were a few stubborn ones but they were quickly removed by a sweep of my bath towel.
What is a Bath Melt from LUSH? It’s basically a solid oil-based bar that dissolves / melts very slowly in your bath water and is packed full of nourishing butters to soften the skin. Snow Angel left my skin feeling soft and supple, but not the least bit greasy. Just comfortable…
Snow Angel is snow-white Bath Melt shaped like the angel you find on top of Christmas trees, adorned with a gold glittery base. I LOVE how this Bath Melt is a 2-for-1 type of deal (like a Top Deck choccie) – it’s part luxurious Bath Melt and part Bath Bomb. The top half creates a snowy white blanket of froth, and the bottom half fills the tub with a halo of golden lustre. Rich in hydrating Cocoa Butter, balancing Rose Absolute, sweet Benzoin Resinoid, floral Gardenia extract and fruity Cassie Absolute, Snow Angel will leave your skin super soft and conditioned with a lingering scent of rich Marzipan. If you are not a fan of Marzipan, fear not, the fragrance is not too intense.
Benzoin is an oil commonly used to calm sensitivity in the skin, it also has warming qualities believed to stimulate blood flow & ease aching muscles. Cassie produces a fragrance that is similar to violet and orange blossom. What I find really interesting about this oil is that Aroma Therapists (yes, it’s a ‘thing’) use it for treating depression, nervous exhaustion and stress-related conditions because the scent is so uplifting.
I gently slipped Snow Angel into my hot bath water and watched her fizz at a very slow pace, almost like she wanted her little ‘show’ to last for as long as possible. Yes, I am THAT person…I see beauty products (and even cars) as little beings with their own personalities. Snow Angel releases an abundance of soft, white foam that initially covers the surface of the water (but later disappears), to moisturise and nourish the skin. Cocoa Butter also leaves little droplets of oil on the water surface, that is later absorbed into the skin. As the angel dances around the surface of the bath water, golden lustres and glitters are dispersed – she really is a beaut!
I bet you expect Snow Angel to melt down & turn the water into a milky white shade? I’m very happy to report that this is not the case, instead it turns the water into a vibrant golden yellow shade. While we’re on the topic of bath water, I’ve tried and tried (and tried) taking photos of the bath water (photos I would be happy to put on my blog) and I just can’t seem to get it right. The lighting in our bathroom is absolutely atricious, so I’d rather give my best descriptions and if you feel you really want to see what the bath water looks like, then maybe google a few images? The truth is, I’m a perfectionist (I’m pretty sure it will be the end of me some day) and I get anxious and stressed out when I try to do something to the best of my abilities and it STILL doesn’t work out.
Remember what I said in this blog post about running your fingers along the inside of the bath tub once the water has drained? Look at this!
Snow Angel has become another favourite of mine, and I wish it wasn’t a seasonal offering. This is the perfect product for those who dislike the popular candy sweet scents (Candy Mountain & Snow Fairy) and don’t particularly enjoy the spicy Christmas scents either.
Top Tip: Remember, Bath melts are designed to melt at body temperature so keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Snow Angel Bath Melt retails for R 65,00 and is currently out of stock in the LUSH online store (Christmas Elves tell me it will be back it stock soon), but I’m sure you will find it in stock at the LUSH stores (Cavendish, V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk and Gateway). Yes, it is quite a pricey little bath product but the heart wants what the heart wants…
